Okay, that was a bit much on the redacted side of things. I was feeling like I was reading documents that the FBI was using to show that they weren’t listening to everyone’s phone calls all the time or when the GSA was trying to hide their Vegas trip as training. I was getting just enough info to know that it makes cores, but I was missing out on all the warnings. I just knew there was a warning. I pulled up the growth tab next.
Creation
> Create core
> Consume
> Core requirements
I went down to core requirements before I started to consume things. After all it might tell me what I needed to consume.
> Core requirements
0% Mana
0% Stone
0% Life blood
Okay so stone and Mana and then lifeblood. Not happy about the blood part but maybe I can let it soak in all the blood from an Unnt or perhaps it wouldn't take much. Lets see about this consume thing.
>Consume
> Consume all touching material
> Select material to Consume
I chose the second option of Select Material to Consume.
>Mana Stone
>Arn
Yeah, I was glad I didn’t do all the touching material. I took my hand off the stone and tried to pull up the menus, and while holding the chain, I was able to. This time I selected material to consume. Only the Mana stone showed up. I was betting that Sam wanted me to get consumed by this necklace.
I selected to consume the Mana stone. I saw the opal start to pulse a pale blue light much like what came from the mana stone, and then I saw the mana stone begin to fade as the blue seemed to leave it and move into the opal. Once the mana stone looked like any other rock, I saw that it kept going and started to melt the river rock. It kind of made me think of a kitchen drain as the rock got pulled into the gem. It only took about 5 minutes for the whole process.

I quickly pulled up the core requirements.
> Core requirements
4% Mana
1% Stone
0% Life blood
Well that was good. It would only take me about 100 hours to make enough mana stones to feed this thing. Now the hard part life blood. I guessed I needed to get that Unnt today to see how much I'd to feed this thing.
With the idea of feeding this necklace lifeblood and then figuring out what a core would do for me, I figured that it was time to see about hunting an unnt. With goblins out there and knowing that they would attack if they found me, I needed to make sure that I was ready. I was hopeful that adding a core to some of my equipment would make up for my overall weakness.
I knew that the goblins would be easy to defeat based on my dream. The only thing that I didn’t have that the dream showed were steel weapons. Still, unless I got ambushed or seriously outnumbered, I didn’t think they would be able to mess me up too badly. They were, after all, the classic starter bad guy.
I packed up all my spikes and tools into my pack. I wasn’t sure what all I’d need to make a trap for the unnts. I knew that I would have to figure something out since I didn’t stand a chance as it was against even one adult. I might take out a young one, but I wasn’t even sure that I could get one by itself. While I might not be as naturally strong as a unnt as a human, I had the tools to do my bidding.
I got Blink to sit in my pack with her head sticking out as I ran so that I could move fast. I made it down to the cliff-side path and started up. It was a hike, no two ways around it. I wasn’t a trail runner, and going up this hill at a run would end up with me falling back down. Crossing the crevasse was getting more manageable, but if this stayed my way, then I would end up having to build a bridge there. A bridge, of course, was dumb because then I would be telling the local monsters I was nearby. Once I got to the ridgeline, it was back to running. Right at an hour and a half, I got to the top of the waterfall.
Then it was time to get to work on setting my trap. I was planning on a tiger pit to trap the Unnt. I was still scared of the horns. My hope was that I could set the trap and catch a Unnt in the next day or so. I wanted to build the pit in a place that I thought I could make them run to so that one would fall in, and then I could finish it. So the first thing I needed to do would be to go look at the trails the herd moved on.

When I got to the area that the Unnt were at last time, I was up here. I saw fresh tracks. I looked at one set and saw a bracket show up around the hoof print. Then I got a pop-up that was asking if I wanted to track! This was great; it was asking me about skill usage now that I turned on the visual interface. I selected track, and the next thing I knew, I was following the trail. Like every time I’d used a skill or spell actively, I took off like I wasn’t in control of my body. I followed the tracks for a good hour before I found that the unnts were in a meadow grazing.
I was scared once I came out of the skill. While the auto skill use was great in that it almost always worked at the best it could, it also took over. I couldn’t pull myself out of the tracking, which meant that if I was tracking and something else was close by that wanted to attack, I wouldn’t be able to do anything. Unless I just didn’t know the override. Yet another question for the most hated person I knew in this world.
Once I found the unnts, I went back to the path I’d taken to the water. I then went up the river just a little from where the unnts had been watering by about twenty feet, and I started to dig. Using a hoe to dig was horrid. I worked most of the rest of the day on my pit. Far longer than I’d wanted to. I was only about 4 feet down, 6 feet wide, and long. But I was breaking clay and moving rocks all by hand. I didn’t have a spade, just the hoe and axe and my hands to scoop out the stuff. I was tired and not happy about how long it took, but it was done.
It took about another hour to rush and get the spikes into the ground. I climbed out of the pit, happy that it was there. I noticed that the sun was going down, but I needed to get the trap covered, or the unnt wouldn’t get tricked. So I went and busted my butt, getting fur branches moved over the pit. After that, I covered it up with a bit of dirt. There were some places that just weren’t going to work since the soil kept falling through. Next took my tools back towards the cliff edge. I knew that I’d about thirty minutes of light up here left, and looking down at my home from above, it was already dusk down there. I knew that I would end up sleeping up here. I climbed the tree my rope was tied to, and Blink settled in next to me. Right as the sun was about to set, I remembered Sam.
I activated my spell.
My body tried to bolt up, but I’d tied myself to the tree so that I wouldn’t fall out, and so my legs just went to either side of the branch, and my hands went up in the air. Then I yelled out,
“Oh great and mighty greeter Sam, I the lowly Arn beseech you to answer my question.” I then asked, “please tell me step by step how to see what each attribute does?”
My body slumped forward being held in place by the rope.
I woke up with some blood coming down my forehead where I hit a branch, and my neck was stiff from hanging oddly, but I would be okay. Blink was looking at me like I was stupid, and she slowly laid her head down, keeping one eye rotated back at me. Then she closed it as if to say enough of the yelling already.
I readjusted how I was in the tree and settled in for the night.
