《Safe at Last》Job Opportunity.

So everything's been back to normal for me. I'm back at school, the teachers are still annoying as hell, Daquan is still trying to get in my pants but luckily with the help of James, I've been able to dodge him. Joycelynn talked to the principal who in turned talked to the teachers about the incident. They're letting me turn in late work without any points off, thank God. After fifth period, I will be heading to for an interview.
I can't say that I'm not nervous but I really do need this job. Everyone that knows what happened has been walking like they're on eggshells around me. I'm not breakable so why treat me like I am? I guess because they can't get over it or believe that I can't either. I don't know. I try not to think about it. Sometimes when I'm sleeping, I wake up soaked in sweat. I haven't told my siblings about it but I'm sure they'll start to realize since the bed ends up wet, and damp. Joycelynn knows because she changes the sheets.
I'm really appreciative for everything she's done for us. Especially for me. Not many will take in four kids especially when she already has a son of her own. It's finally fourth period which is Intro to Business Tech. Fortunately, we have a substitute teacher which means I get to sleep after I do whatever assignment they're going to provide us. "Good afternoon class. My name is Mr. Johnson. I will be filling in for your regular teacher who is out for today. She left an assignment for you all to do on paper which I will be handing out." I wiped my eyes as I patiently waited for the bell to ring.
School is finally over and I get to go to my interview. I won't say that I'm not nervous because I am. I have to constantly remind myself to get out of my head. For overthinking will be the death of me, unless life takes me out first. When I made it to the entrance of the building, I briefly fixed my clothes as I made my way inside. I was greeted with the smell of lemon bleach and coffee as I watched people walk past me in business clothes. The sound of clicking from heels and keyboards could be heard.

I walked up to the receptionist desk as I patiently waited for her to get off the phone. "Hi, I'm here for my interview at 4:00 with Mr. Davis." She looked at me with a smile and what made me comfortable is that she's a black woman. She has individual braids that I could tell goes past her back. Even with her sitting on the chair. Her complexion matched mines as she helped ease my nerves without even knowing.
"Good afternoon, you're Aurora Wright correct?" I said yes as she went to typing on her keyboard while looking at her computer.
"Here's your pass. You'll need it to be able to scan the elevators. Mr. Davis is all the way on the twentieth floor. From there on, it'll be another receptionist desk that'll help you find his office. The elevators are right there to your right. Good luck to you miss."
I thanked her as I grabbed the pass from her hands and headed towards the elevators. My heart began to beat out of my chest but I had to stop myself from having a panic attack.
"Just be yourself. He'll love you. It'll be ok. You're doing this for you and your siblings. Don't be nervous momma. You've got this." I said to myself in order to stop being nervous. It didn't work as much but I wasn't going to let that stop me. Looking at the pass, I scanned the bar against the scanner, as I waited for the elevator to turn on.
Fancy ass technology I'll say.
The elevator turned on and I was able to press the "up" button. The door opened as I stepped inside. The interior gave everything that it should. I pressed the twentieth button as the doors closed and proceeded to move up. I wonder what he'll say when he sees me. Does he know this interview is for me? Will he look at me differently? Will he reject me because of what happened? I don't know what to think.

My stomach went in my ass as I had time to think about what's going to happen. This man has seen you at one of your lowest moments.... and he's probably going to be your boss.
I wanted so bad to chicken out with the quickness. Just turn this elevator back around. No one is going to question you if you leave out the building. I can't do that though. I came this far and I won't turn back now. Once the elevator reach for twenty, I knew it was over for me to then back. I'm literally right here. I can't turn back now.
Once I stepped out of the elevator, I was once again greeted with the receptionist desk on my left side. As I looked around, there weren't many offices as I imagined. I guess that's because this is where Lorenzo is.
Lorenzo.
Lorenzo.
Lorenzo.
I had to shake that thought out of my head as I turned towards the desk. "Hello ma'am, are you lost?" I walked towards the desk as I forced a small smile on my face.
"Hi, I'm here for my 4:00 interview with Mr. Davis."
"Of course, Aurora Wright?" I nodded my head but spat out a 'yes' as she began to make a call on the phone on her desk. I stood there for God knows how long but really was about ten seconds.
"Hello Mr. Davis, your 4:00 interview is here." She said as she wanted for him to respond.
"Yes sir. Right away." Hanging up the phone, she stood up as she walked around the desk.
"My name is Ariana, I am the receptionist for this floor. As you can see, there aren't that many offices up here because many have to earn that right. For the position you've applied for was to be Mr. Davis' assistant which entails you to take his calls, check over his planner, etc. If you get the job, I'll go into detail about that position more. For now, follow me please."
That was a lot to take in but I followed her as she walked straight ahead. My book bag was a bit heavy and slowed me down, but I kept up behind her. The decor matched the entire building, being black, and grey. Everything looked marble while the floors I could tell were granite. When we finally made it to his office door, I had to stop to take a breath.
"Take a deep breath and you'll be fine. Ready?" Ariana asked as she gave me a sweet smile.
"Yes."
