The new year had come, and Rengoku invited you to the new years festival. You were apprehensive at first, unsure about going out in public. You spent time at markets and such but you knew that this would be a very crowded place. But you and Rengoku had been courting for months, and you trusted him with your life.
Mitsuri had helped you dress for the festival, the whole interaction was new to you. You'd never had any girlfriends back before you had become a demon. It was always a competition between the girls in the town you lived in. You were lucky enough for a man in the town to pay your dowry. You had been traveling when you received the news, and that was when you met Isa.
He said he fell in love instantly and offered to pay twice your dowry just to be sure he'd have you. It was a whirlwind love story, that ended too soon. Sometimes you felt guilty for your feelings towards Rengoku, but you knew that if you had died you'd have wanted Isa to be happy again. You only hoped that his spirit wouldn't condemn your actions.
Mitsuri hummed happily as she helped you dress. You'd both gone shopping a few nights ago and she assisted you in picking out what to wear. You'd never been to one of these celebrations, always too busy with your children or your husband.
"I just love this kimono (Y/n)!" Mitsuri cheered, wrapping the cloth around your waist. You smiled, helping her place the fabric. "It reminds me of my Hashira uniform," you spoke softly. A nostalgic smile covering your face.
Mitsuri smiled happily, still humming to the toon in her head and parading around you. "I bet your husband was very happy with you as his wife," she mumbled. Your head snapped in her direction. No one had spoken to you of your husband, other than Tengen but he had a penchant for pushing boundaries.
"Thank you Mitsuri. He actually paid double my dowry to make sure I was his wife," you laughed lightheartedly. Mitsuri gawked, thoroughly surprised. "Wow, he must have really loved you then."
You laughed again, remembering all of the silly moments the two of you had together. "He really did. I miss him... Kyojuro reminds me of him often," your face filled with mirth. "Really?" She asked, "how so?" You hummed in thought for a moment. "He's," you laughed at the only word that came to mind, "flamboyant. He always looks happy, and he loves his family very much. And he cares deeply for those around him, he has a great sense of comradery. I, I really like Kyojuro Mitsuri. I don't know how to act. I loved Isa, but these feelings... I'm not sure how to behave, especially considering how different everything is now."
You turned to the younger woman for guidance. She grew up with the current customs, you'd only have about 15 years to learn all that had changed in the time you were gone, and it was still difficult to keep up most of the time. "Just... Do what feels right. I'm sure Rengoku will like you no matter what. He never stops talking about you," she laughed.
"He talks about me that often?" You inquired. "Yeah, he never stops. Always talking about your little dates," a large blush overtook your cheeks. "It's really cute honestly. I haven't seen him this passionate about something in a really long time. I understand your reservations, but I know Rengoku just wants you to be happy." She spoke softly and kindly. Mitsuri really was a great woman, whoever got to be her husband would be the luckiest man in the world.

"Thank you Mitsuri," you said as she finished tieing your clothes. "Of course. I want my former master to be happy and I think you make him very happy." She smiled brightly at you, and you returned with your own bright grin. "Oh!" You exclaimed, "I have something for you as a gift," you stepped down from the small stool you'd be balancing upon and went into a bag that was sitting nearby. You pulled out a small package of sakura mochi. "I thought you might like this," you handed the package over to her.
Her eyes filled with tears and she was reluctant to take the package. "But my hair," she breathed. "I think it's beautiful, just like sakura mochi, and any man that tells you otherwise will have to answer to me," you grinned.
She squealed and ran up and hugged you. Had you been human she may have crushed you, but you thanked your demon resilience for saving you. You hugged her back, squeezing lightly. "Thank you (Y/n)," she said with tears in her eyes. You smiled, nodded, and patted her head. "Now, why don't you let me help you get dressed?" You asked and she nodded furiously in reply.
As you helped her, she'd occasionally pop a mochi into her mouth, but you said nothing and simply helped her with her kimono. Once you were both finished you both exited the room you'd been in, seeing Rengoku and Senjuro standing down the hallway.
Mitsuri pulled your sleeve, stopping you in your tracks. "Obanai isn't here," she whispered. "I'm sure he's hiding somewhere, you know he finds Rengoku too loud." She nodded, seeming placated for now. You both walked out. Senjuro stopped engaging with Kyojuro and turned to look at the two of you. His face lit up, and Kyojuro turned his head as well.
Kyojuro's mouth sat agape, staring at you. "You look good Lady (Y/n)!" Senjuro cried, coming forward and tugging you forward. "Obanai is outside Mitsuri," Senjuro spoke seeing how nervous Mitsuri was. She squeaked, thanking the young boy and leaving through the open door.
Senjuro pulled you to stand in front of his brother before scurrying off into the estate. Kyojuro stared at you in adoration. "You look beautiful (Y/n)," he choked, reaching down and gently grasping your hands with his own. "And you look very handsome Kyojuro," you giggled, squeezing his hands.
He stuttered, a blush beginning to cover his face as he dropped it to rest on your shoulder. "You embarrass me my darling," you giggled again, patting his head affectionately. "I only speak the truth," you remarked as you raked your fingers through his hair, gently running your nails down his scalp. He shuddered and wrapped his arms around your waist. "You're truly evil my darling."
You guffawed, "how so my love?" You questioned with a smirk spreading over your lips. He grumbled, shifting his weight from foot to foot as he tried to find the right words. His head rose from your shoulder, and he simply turned his head and glared at you. You only gave him a cheeky grin.
"We could just stay here all night," he offered, a sly grin obvious on his face. It was your turn to blush, surprised by his offer. "I-Kyojuro I've never been to a New Years' festival. They didn't have them when I was human, so I'd really like to go." You gripped the base of his skull, turning his gaze towards you again, "I'd really like to go with you Kyojuro." He blushed profusely but nodded, leaning in to deliver a quick and chaste kiss. You giggled, kissing him again, and brought your hand done to hold his own.

You both stepped outside hand in hand and headed towards the town. You walked in wonderment at the beautiful lights and decorations. Rengoku wasn't able to take his eyes off you. You looked so beautiful with the way the lights showed on your face and the look of pure amazement at everything around you.
He held your hand tightly as he steered you both through the crowd. You stared at the back of his head, enjoying yourself so far. "Where are we going Kyojuro?" You questioned, leaning forward in hopes of being heard properly above the crowd.
He looked at you over his shoulder, a large grin on his face. "You'll see," he spoke, raising a finger to his lips and winking. Crimson bloomed across your face, but you said nothing and followed behind him obediently.
He ducked into a building, smiling and boisterously saying, "Hello!" to the shop owner. The shop owner's face brightened greatly at seeing Rengoku's face. "Ah, it's good to see you Rengoku!" The owner called, a pretty and young woman peppering her head around the corner. "You as well sir!"
He ushered you to a table, pulling the chair out for you and pushing it in as you sat. "Thank you Kyojuro," you murmured and his bright smile never left his visage. He nodded, going around the table and sitting himself down. He leaned across the table, whispering to you.
"This is my favorite restaurant. My mother used to come here all the time when she was still alive. I've always come here so I've become good friends with the owner. Whatever you want, get, don't worry about anything," he smiled sweetly. You nodded and thanked him.
He pointed out a few things he thought you'd like, and you took his advice gratefully. He ordered a lot of food but you knew he'd eat it all. He would never let good food go to waste. He thanked the owner profusely, and once he'd left Kyojuro turned back to you and began conversing.
"Senjuro said that he'd like to see Arita again. They both got along really well and I like Senjuro hanging out with someone his own age." Kyojuro spoke. You smiled and nodded, "that should be easy. Arita spoke about how interesting he found Senjuro. I think that Senjuro is a refreshing presence for him. Arita doesn't get to hang out with boys his own age either."
Kyojuro beamed, "then it sounds like a plan," he nodded. "I'd also like to take you on a date while Arita is there," he mumbled, flushed. "I'd also like that," you smiled softly at Kyojuro, bringing your hand up to clasp his on the table.
He stared at you affectionately but you were abruptly interrupted by the food being placed between the two of you. "Here's your food," the young woman spoke distastefully. "Ah thank you!" Kyojuro spoke as he put food on your plate. "Oh, Kyojuro you don't have to -"
"I want to!" You giggled but nodded, hearing the young woman sneer. Kyojuro side-eyed her but said nothing. But she didn't walk off. "So a first-name basis huh?" She asked, clearly not truly interested. "Yes," you answered her. "Wasn't asking you," she scowled.
Kyojuro's eyebrows knit together in distaste. "But she answered you," he stated matter-of-factly. She seemed taken aback but brushed it off. "So Kyojuro," you were aghast by her using his given name. Kyojuro cut her off, "don't call me that," he glared.
She was surprised by his aggression. "But-." You were the one to cut her off this time. "He said not to call him by his given name," you glowered. She sneered at you, seemingly seconds away from beginning an argument. "My wife is correct, don't refer to me by my given name," Kyojuro smirked. She gaped at him, scurrying off as quickly as she had come.
You both stared as she left, and you turned towards him. "But we're not married," you whispered. "Well, I plan on marrying you, therefore..." He whispered back while shrugging. You giggled, and you both ate peacefully.
After you'd finished eating, Kyojuro grabbed your hand and guided you to a beautiful lake. You stopped in front of it, gasping at the water's beauty. Kyojuro smiled lovingly at you, gently bringing you to a small opening in the trees.
"We'll watch the fireworks from here. This is where my father took my mother to propose to her," he chuckled slightly, hand never leaving yours. You both conversed and stared up at the sky, waiting for the fireworks to start. And when they finally did, your eyes never left the bright lights and loud explosions.
Your eyes were wide in wonder, surprised that humanity was able to achieve something so amazing. There was a pause in the fireworks and you turned toward Kyojuro in confusion. "There is a pause when the new year begins," he began to lean in, "it's usually when the couples kiss."
He grasped your face gently, leaning in and kissing you. You reciprocated happily, grabbing onto the front of his kimono and scooting forward. One of his hands slid down, cupping your waist tightly. You sighed into the kiss, tugging lightly at the hair at the base of his neck.
He groaned, circling his arm around you and pulling flush against him. "Kyo," you gasped, climbing on top of him. He kissed you fiercely, hands resting on your thighs. "You're so beautiful (Y/n), could never get enough of you," he exhaled. You couldn't help but let out a little whimper, pulling him closer by his shirt.
"Please," you gasped. He separated from you, smirking at your flushed gaze. His face was lit up by the fireworks being released again. You kissed him again, surprising him, but he opened his mouth for you, allowing you to do as you pleased.
You kissed passionately, hands tangled in each other's clothing and hair. "You're so gorgeous (y/n), god I would do anything for you," he groaned, sitting up and gently laying you on the ground. He loomed above you, kissing you slowly and sensually.
"I-Kyojuro, not here," you turned your head away from him. He hummed, kissing your cheek and then sitting up. "Would you like to continue this elsewhere, or not at all?" He asked. You stared up at him, surprised by his willingness to stop, and asking if you even wanted to continue.
You stood up, grabbed his hands, and trotted off. You had bought a small home in this town, wanting to have a place to say other than the Ubuyashiki estate. You pulled him to the front door, and he was asking many questions. "Who's house is this?" He finally asked. "Mine," you smirked, opening the door and tugging him in.
You pushed him against the door, pulling him down and kissing him feverishly. He gasped in surprise, but recovered quickly, grabbing behind your thighs and lifting you up against him. You choke, grabbing onto his shoulders to balance yourself.
"Gods, the things I want to do to you," he growled in your ear, gently biting at your neck. "Shit," you cried, muscles tensing around him. He chuckled before asking where your bedroom was. "Down the hall, second door to the right," you mumbled, drunk on the feeling of him. He smirked, kissing you one more time before making walking towards your room.
