《The Alpha's Little Runner》Chapter 15

We were just finishing the 3rd movie when the boys came down. I was really enjoying the series so far and couldn't wait to see what happened next. Marcus seemed to have calmed down some as he came to sit next to me.
"What are you ladies watching in here?" Sam asked as he took the seat next to Polly. "The Harry Potter series since Maddy hadn't seen it before," Clover said while stretching out her legs. All the boys looked at me like I was crazy. "You have never seen it." Everett asked while looking at me with mock horror. I laughed and threw a pillow at his head. He quickly dodged it, "No I haven't. Unlike some, I spent the last 5 years locked up or in the woods." I said while crossing my arms.
Marcus pulled me closer to that comment, so I snuggled closer into him. I enjoyed the comfort he brought me. I could tell the mood shifted slightly at my words. "Well on that note lets go to dinner," Sam said trying to lighten the mood. I hadn't realized the time until I looked at the clock on the wall.
It was already past 6:00pm. I guess we got caught up watching the movies.
Dinner went along smoothly. The people of the pack seem to have gotten used to me. They don't stare as much now that they have gotten used to me being here. We were just finishing up dinner when a loud nasally squeal came from the doorway.
A girl came running into the room. It seemed the mood shifted quickly as she came closer to the front of the room. Marcus didn't seem to care as she seemed to have her eyes trained on him. "Marcus!! Did you miss me?" The girl asked just as she came to a stop in front of him. She must not have noticed or cared that I was sitting right next to him as she reached forward to touch his chest.
Willow snapped in my head. "I don't know, but I want to see what he does," I said while turning my attention back to the situation in front of me.
"I know I missed you," the girl said while batting her eyelashes at Marcus. He didn't seem phased as he finished his plate. "No, I didn't Stacy." He said coldly toward her. She flinched back at his words which caused me to stifle a laugh that was coming up.
"What is so funny bitch?" The girl, who I now know is Stacy, snapped over to me. I had to try harder to not laugh in her face. She tried to look mean but failed miserably. "Oh nothing," I said while looking at her with amusement.
"Marcus, are you really going to let this omega talk to me like that? Why is she sitting up here anyway?" Stacy asked while turning her attention back to Marcus. He was quick to his feet and in her face in a heartbeat. "She is not an omega. She is my mate your future Luna, so I suggest you quit talking while you are still alive," Marcus said as his eyes went darker. I could tell he was trying to hold Ian back.
"What are you talking about? I am your mate. I am supposed to be Luna." Stacy said while trying to put her hand on Marcus again. This time I was the one to lose my temper. I growled low which caused her to look at me with fire in her eyes. "You are not and never will be my mate or Luna," Marcus said through gritted teeth.

Stacy looked hurt but decided it would be best to not challenge the Alpha in front of her. She turned to me and smirked with her next words.
"I, Stacy Harris, challenge you for the title of Luna and Marcus' mate." The room went quite at her words. No one dared moved. Marcus was seething. Everett and Sam had to jump up and hold him back to prevent him from killing the girl right then and there.
I looked at her to see her waiting for my response. I knew I could I take her. Stacy seemed to just be all talk and show. I stood from my seat and looked her in the eyes, "I, Madelyn Rivera, accept your challenge."
"Tomorrow afternoon then," Stacy smirked before leaving the room. I watched as she left the room. Everyone seemed to be on edge as Everett and Sam let Marcus go. He knew he couldn't interfere now that I accepted the challenge.
"Madelyn, are you crazy? What if you get hurt or lose?" Marcus said while pulling me from the room. I looked at him with hurt in my eyes. He thought I couldn't defend myself. He thought I was weak. "What do you think I can't take her? That I am too weak and can't defend myself?" I said while stepping away from him. I didn't except him to not have faith in me. I thought he thought highly of me.
"Madelyn, that is not what I am saying. I am just worried is all. I can't lose you not when I just found you," Marcus said while stepping closer to me. I knew he was telling the truth, but it still hurt that he didn't have faith in me.
"I need time to myself." I said before walking out of the house. I wasn't sure where I was going just that I was running again. I needed to clear my head for a while and hoped running would help.
I quickly dashed into the forest not looking back as Bryan called for me from the front door.
**********
To say I was pissed at Stacy was an understatement. I was about to kill her when Madelyn accepted her challenge. I wanted to chase after Madelyn when she ran from me, but I knew she needed time to think. I know I hurt her feelings with what I said. I couldn't help the thoughts that flashed through my head. I was worried my mate would get hurt. I have never seen her fight before. I could only hope she had some form of training.
I made my way to my office to work on the pile of paperwork I had to deal with. I had cleaned the room after my outburst this morning making sure everything was back in place.
I pushed my office door open and fell into my office chair. I was just getting started when Everett and Sam came into my office. They both seemed on edge after the events that played out in the dining room. They seemed nervous like they wanted to tell me something. "What is it you want to tell me?" I asked not looking up from the paperwork.
Everett was the first to speak up, "Stacy is going around telling everyone she will be their new Luna come tomorrow." He said before looking at anything but me. I was fuming at this point. I knew I need to handle this before it got out of hand.
"Go and bring Stacy here now," I said while looking at Sam. I opened the pack link for everyone to listen "I want to make this very clear. No one is to talk about the events that are to come tomorrow. The things Stacy is saying are to be not listened to. Anyone I hear talking about this will be dealt with by me personally."

I was fuming by the time Sam came back with a scared looking Stacy. I would be scared to if I saw me too. I let Ian out this time. I knew he wouldn't do anything because the challenge was set. "What do you think you are doing?" I asked after moving around to the front of my desk. Everett and Sam had taken a step back but were close enough if they needed to jump in.
"What do you mean? I am letting our pack know the news that is to come," Stacy said trying to not show her fear. I let a fierce growl leave my throat as I saw red. "THIS IS NOT OUR PACK AND NEVER WILL BE. YOU ARE NOT MY MATE AND NEVER WILL BE." The room went quite after my outburst. Stacy looked like she was about to burst into tears but quickly covered her fear.
"We will see about that come tomorrow," Stacy said while making her way to the door. I quickly turned around and flipped my desk, scattering the papers once again today. That didn't help the anger I was feeling toward Stacy. I needed to punch something.
"Man, not again," I heard Sam say quietly while looking at all the papers on the ground. Everett and he had helped me earlier when I threw everything from my desk. "I will clean it later. I am going to the gym," I said brushing past the two standing there.
I made my way outside to the training area. I ripped the doors open to the gym. I noticed a few people in there "Leave now!" I didn't want anyone around me right now. I was worried I would hurt someone I didn't mean to. They quickly left after seeing how mad I was. I made my way over to the punching bags hoping this would help relieve my anger.
2 hours later...
I was dripping sweat and still fueled with anger. I didn't realize just how worked up I had gotten. While my anger had dwindled down, it was still there. I heard some come in but didn't pay whoever it was any attention. I kept hitting the bag.
"You got to stop man," Everett said while making his way over to me. I only grunted at him and continued to hit the bag. I wasn't sure why I was so angry at this point, but I used it to keep going. Everett signed before coming over to me. I didn't notice that Sam and Bryan were also there. "If you don't stop, then we are going to drag you out of here." Everett said while standing in front of me.
"I am fine," I said while side stepping him. "Why are you so angry man? I get earlier, but it has been 2 hours and you are still angry," Sam said moving to stand in front of me. "Because....." I trailed off not completely sure myself.
"Because why? I get that you are worried about tomorrow, but I believe in my sister. I know she has been through a lot, but don't let that fool you. She is tough." Bryan said from his spot. He didn't try to move in front of me like the other two.
"Because I am scared of losing her okay," I said feeling defeated. I made my way to the wall before sliding down and sitting. The guys just looked at me waiting to see if I would keep talking. I guess I needed to get it out.
"I just found her after looking for so long I finally have my mate. I don't want to lose her to anything. She is still unsure of me which hurts, but I understand why. She is scared of men, and I can't blame her. I know she is strong and can hold her on, but that still doesn't make me worry any less." I admitted to the guys in front of me. I knew Bryan and Sam understood what I was saying. Everett was still looking for his mate.
I felt myself relax more after letting out my fear. I knew these guys wouldn't hold my weakness against me. "Thanks guys. I appreciate it," I said while taking Everett's extended hand. They seemed to relax seeing as I wasn't about to rip someone's throat out.
We made our way back to the pack house. We could see Polly and Clover sitting on the porch. They seemed to be worried about something. Sam and Bryan quickened their pace to get to their mates. My heart tugged at the sight. I wish I could be like that with Madelyn. I just had to wait for her to be comfortable with me.
"Is Maddy not with you guys?" Clover asked as we got closer. I started to panic. I figured she would be back by now. "No, we thought she would be back by now," Bryan said while moving closer to Clover. "She still hasn't come back. None of us can link her either. We were hoping she was with you guys," Polly said her gaze moving back to the forest. I knew I shouldn't have let her go by herself.
"This is all my fault. I shouldn't have let her go by herself." I said frustrated at the situation. "It is all our fault. We all let her go by herself," Sam said trying to reassure me.
"Let's split up and look for her. I will call for the patrol to keep their eyes open for her," I said while quickly linking the wolves on patrol. They all said they hadn't seen her but would keep an eye out for her.
We all quickly made our way into the forest after telling the girls to stay at the house in case she came back before we found her. I hoped she was okay and was just lost or something. I would never forgive myself if something happened to her.
I quickly shifted knowing Ian would be able to cover more distance faster than I could. I told Ian as he howled into the night before darting into the trees.
