"How? How can I be happy?"
Tears were flowing down my face nonstop.
"Figure it out."
"I love athy.. She was there when you weren't around, she took care of me, she loves me and I love her with all my heart."
He added, then slowly walked away.
"Its unfair, how can you be happy? When I'm not?"
"Its so unfair..."
Sadness and Envy filled my heart. I am so envious of that girl. But what can I do? Nothing, will bring back Lucas's love for me.
I slowly walked out of the dark alley.
'I hate you Lucas! I hate love! I hate you so much!'
All I could think about were those cruel words, as a single tear dropped down my cheek.
The cold wind blew against my face making it colder.
Tears ran from my eyes. I tried to fight back all the emotions inside. They hurt too much for me to handle them right now. My head was spinning.
And then.. *thump*
I fell on the rough ground.
Was I this weak?
I opened my eyes and saw that I wasn't in the dark alley anymore.
Everything around me is glistening, I just stared at awe.
'Where am I?'
I asked myself as I stood up and walked towards the balcony. It was so beautiful.
'Where in the world am I?!'
This place is even bigger and even more majestic than I thought.
"How long have I fallen asleep?"
I asked myself.
I didn't notice but suddenly someone replied.
The voice was familiar but I couldn't put a name to it so I just turned around.
It's him. What was his name again?
Zekiel? Ezel? Oh right, Ijekiel. Though I might have forgotten his Surname.
He was a tall young man with white snowy hair and golden eyes. His eyes are so captivating.
I snap out of my thoughts when he said.
"You've been out for about 2 day's."

"2 days?"
I repeated.
He nods, while smiling softly.
"I'm sorry for being a bother and thank you alot for taking care of me, I should get going now."
I bowed and went straight to the door but the man stopped me.
"You weren't a bother. Stay here for a little while, I will call the doctor."
He insisted.
His voice was soft, kind but firm. His eyes were full of concern and care.
I nodded slowly and he let go of my wrist.
'Is he worried?'
"She's all well now, The reason why she fainted is probably cause by stress."
The doctor said.
My eyes trailed on his face, he looked very calm and collected while he was talking with the doctor.
"Thank you Dr. Lin."
Ijekiel replied.
"It's nothing Duke Alpheus."
'Duke?'
'how could I be so rude infront of a Duke?!!'
With that the Doctor left, leaving the 2 of us alone inside the big room.
Ijekiel walked slowly towards me and sat on the empty seat next to me.
"Are you sure you're feeling better now?"
He asked and I nodded.
"I don't know why but I think you should stay here for another day, I'm worried that you might faint again."
He said in a soft voice.
"But.."
"You should stay here, I will ask the maids to prepare your food."
He then stood up and left.
He's so.. Kind to me.
A small tint of red crept on my face.
I mentally facepalm myself.
'idiot..'
I thought as I sighed deeply. Whatever, Lucas was just like that... Behind those soft smile he'll probably just play with my feelings.
In the end everything is useless, Even though I tried so hard it won't be all worth it.
'From now on I should just love myself and be happy, no one would anyways.'
My thoughts were interrupted by a sudden knock at the door.

"You may come in."
I said.
A petite young maid entered my room while carrying a tray filled with food.
She placed it on top of the table and silently left.
"Thank you."
I muttered, she must be new here that's why she's shy.
I think I finally can say that I moved on from that dude, we'll it has been a few months..
I found a place to stay and also a good job.
But ever since I met Ijekiel.. I know it's wrong to say this but, he has never stopped annoying me every. single. day.
His reasons we're always the same.
"I'm worried that you might faint like the last time."
At first I was cool about it, but now he is like a leech.
I got ready to go to the bakery, and started to leave my house when suddenly a carriage stopped infront of me.
I wasn't surprised by this anymore.
"Y/n."
I raised my head up and saw Ijekiel waving his hand while grinning ear to ear.
I forcefully smiled at him.
"Hello, Duke Alpheus."
I replied.
"I told you to call me, Ijekiel"
He pouted.
"I think 'Duke Alpheus' is much better."
I added.
"Anyways, isn't it a great day, Y/n?"
He asked.
"Yeah it was a great day not until someone decided to ruin it.."
I murmured.
"By someone who do you mean? I shall punish them severely for disturbing you."
He was really serious about this 'punish' thing. I wonder what it will look like if I tell him, that it's him.
"I should get moving now, Good bye."
I left hurriedly though I can hear him say:
"Y/n! You should've rode the carriage with me!"
As time were passing I couldn't help but tell Ijekiel why I was crying on that day.
After hearing my story he comforted me nonstop, and surprisingly he also knew Lucas and kinda hate him.
He told me that he liked Athy, but Athy didn't like him.
I'm not really good with words but I just hugged him.
I also notice that he becomes less annoying to me... Everytime I see him it feels like I'm in a different world, His smile is like the sun shining on a clear sky; his laugh is beautiful and melodic, his presence makes you feel at peace.
It's like.. Im In love with him.
But.... I will never love again. But also another side of me says, He's different and better than anyone else.
That side of me knows I can be loved... And this is what scares me the most. This is what makes me scared to get close to someone. I'm scared that they might betray me.
When did it get this complicated?
"I love you."
What? I was not expecting this at all..
What do I say?
I'm not ready yet..
Im scared.
My heart is racing, and I just don't know what to do with myself...
"Y/n, if you're worried that I might betray you just like what Lucas did.. I won't I promise you that."
He said.
"Promises are meant to be broken."
I replied, looking at him straight in the eyes
He gently grabbed my hand and said:
"I'll never break a promise to you Y/n."
He looked back at me with determination in his eyes.
I knew he was sincere because his eyes would give nothing away but the truth.
"My heart is ready when yours is Y/n, I'll do whatever it takes for you to be happy. I will never do anything to hurt you, I swear on everything that I'll never leave your side. I love you and I will always do, you know that right?"
The way he looked at me made my heart flutter in an unusual way.
I couldn't just say no after that long speech he said..
"I love you too, Ijekiel."
He leaned into my face but then stopped.
"May I?"
"You may."
He kissed me passionately.
I hope this won't end like last time.

Adagio of the Enlightened
The Elders will tell you the stories and lore. Of our ancestors, their deeds, and of the foes of yore. They will praise to you the chariot, and how it flew to the stars. How it stole the sun's light and slew the night’s roar. The Shamans will tell you the tales of their wisdom. Their wars on schism, and the unlettered world of ours before. Perhaps they will sing you the songs of what our clans' ancient customs tore. Poems of how our ancestors took what the discs had offered them, the manna and the mundane, and made it more. The kings will tell you of the follies, the sins, and the anecdotes of all our ancestors' wrongs. They will curse to you their names, the Ender of Fate and the Ruined Song. How they had dug up the hearts of the discs, euchred its relics, and blasphemed its prophecies, with oracles withdrawn. But they will only tell you the legends, recount the myths, and sing the allegories washed ashore. The Elders, the Shamans, and the kings can only retell what the storytellers of their own time had voiced. What they have read in books or heard in the minstrels' songs they adore. They don't know what really happened. They were never there. They can't tell you how our ancestors slew the angels from the sky, and sent them back to where they belonged. How they poisoned our minds, and made our people slothful and feeble, with the reforms they had undergone. But I can.I can tell you how the Ender of Fate severed destiny's strings, weakened them, and weaved them to our feeble flesh and souls.I can tell you how the Ruined song razed the heavens with her blood-stained melody, and reshaped our hell into utopia, with the deaths she deplored.Because I was there. I can tell you the truth, with my virtue strong. ----> Disclaimer: This will be a slow-burn, character-driven, non-harem, slice-of-life web novel with cultivation and kingdom-building elements. You have been warned...

I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)

And no one to call her 'short' anymore, either. Just enormous living expenses that have to be covered. In this New World, colossal monsters will be preyed upon. (I used a pencil for the first time since elementary school for that cover art, so I'm proud of it, as imperfect as it is.)
