After ten whole minutes of trying to get Hoodie to talk, Amy was exasperated and she blew out a breath, throwing one of her pillows at his face. It bounced right off him and fell on the floor by his feet where he still stood since entering through the window.
I grinned behind my own pillow, prepared to run just in case he happens to not be as harmless as he looks right now.
Amy slipped of the bed, and I raised a brow as I watched her walk over to him. He followed her movements until she was standing right before him, arms crossed.
"If you're going to stalk me at least make it a little bit more entertaining."
I tried not to laugh, wondering if Hoodie was either really confused right now or actually considering her words.
"Why does your hood have a sad face on it?"
When Hoodie made no move to speak Amy started reaching a hand up towards his covered face, grasping the fabric and tugging on it.
Just before the hood could slide off, Hoodie caught her hand with his and I watched her wince as he grunted out, "No."
But he was too late.
I watched as the hood slid off slowly and he was looking down at her with his brows knitted and jaw tight. His cropped hair was messy but he was definitely more attractive than I thought he'd be.
Amy grinned arrogantly as if to say 'I win' and as Hoodie dropped her hand she turned to me, "definitely cuter than I expected."
I gave two awkward thumbs up, not sure what to say to that and she turned back to Hoodie to see him sliding the hood back over his head, his face red.
"Are you blushing?"
"No-"
"You're blushing aren't you?" She tried to grab at his hood again but this time he was ready and I watched him grasp her hands, holding both her wrists together as she squirmed.
"I feel like I'm third-wheeling at a very important time in your life!" I whisper-shouted over to Amy and she turned her head to look back at me.
"I'm being held against my will."
I shrugged, "you did invite him in."
"That's terrible logic," she grunted and tried pulling her arms free before giving up shortly after. She then narrowed her eyes at him, "you know this doesn't change the fact that you were blushing like an idiot earlier."
Seeing Amy and Brian brought back memories of Masky and my stomach did a small flip. He was way more direct that's for sure but Brian was cute. It didn't make sense for someone like him to blush like a schoolgirl though.
"He's like a giant killer teddy bear."
Amy rolled her eyes at my description and he finally let her go, watching her rub her wrists that were slightly bruised.
"I know it's like 4 am but I'm really feeling like waffles."
As hungry as I was, I just felt like calling it a night, "Not me."
"What about you?" Amy turned to Hoodie, "do you want waffles?"
After a few seconds ticked off he finally nodded.
"C'mon," she led him from the room and I flopped onto the bed, squeezing the soft pillow to my chest.
Now I can finally focus on something more important.

How to get Masky off my mind.
The whole time I'd been watching Amy and Hoodie shamelessly flirt in from of me, it reminded me of him.
Where is he?
When Masky had said a few days I wondered if he meant any more than three. People usually say few when they really mean two or three right?
Come to think of it, he and Hoodie were always together so it was strange that they'd be apart for so long.
I figured if anyone knew Masky's whereabouts it would be Hoodie and I sat up abruptly.
Sleep can wait, right?
I thumped down the stairs to find them both in the kitchen, whipping up some waffle mix.
"Change of plans," I hopped up onto a stool, "yes to the waffles."
"Knew it," Amy poured the batter into the waffle iron and closed the lid, watching the timer count down, "that's why I made extra."
"Godsend," I mouthed in her direction before clearing my throat and turning to Hoodie, "Uh Brian, do you happen to know where Masky is right now?"
It was a long shot so I was surprised when he actually answered.
"Yes."
"Could you take me to him?" I didn't mean to sound as excited as I did and Amy blinked, lifting both brows in question.
"What are you doing?"
"Er just thinking out loud."
She then smirked at me, "That's stalker behavior."
"I wasn't gonna stalk him," I bit my lower lip a bit, "I just wanted to make sure he's okay."
"It's been a day. You need to relax," the waffle iron beeped and she popped it open, using tongs to get the goodness out, "besides we're going to Liam's tonight remember? If you don't hear from him by tomorrow then you can start worrying."
I stuck my lower lip out in an exaggerated pout and nodded, "fine."
After we'd finished eating waffles piled high with syrup and whipped cream, I took a warm shower before allowing myself to climb into bed again.
The blankets were so comfortable I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.
×××
"-s-still asleep?"
"Yeah, she'll probably be out all day."
I could hear voices coming from outside the door but I didn't bother to open my eyes.
I was still sleepy and besides the voices outside expected me to stay in bed so why not.
"S-so she won't come with us?" Was that Toby? Where were they planning on going without me?
"Guess not. C'mon before you wake her."
I heard footsteps retreating and heavily considered getting up but my body wasn't feeling very cooperative.
Instead, I nuzzled further into the warmth, drifting right back to sleep.
Sometime later when the shadows were high on the wall I heard the sound of a car door slamming outside and my eyes shot open.
I relaxed as soon as I remembered where I was and I reached my hands up, arching my back on a stretch that had my legs spasming.
Nothing like a good stretch after an even better nap.
I looked over at the alarm clock to see that it was already 2 pm. No wonder I felt so charged up. I haven't slept that long in weeks.
I padded to the bathroom to wash my face before going to meet Amy downstairs. She was with Hoodie and Toby putting groceries away.
I was glad I went back to sleep. Grocery shopping was way too tedious for me and since when did these guys become regulars here?

"Hey sleepyhead," Amy greeted, getting on her tiptoes to put the cereal away. Hoodie took the box from her and easily slid it into the top cupboard.
Toby was busy trying to be discreet about the wafers he was stealing while pretending to put them away.
"Hey," I grabbed a banana from the fruit basket on the table, "Toby, do you know where Masky is?."
"This again?" Amy scrunched her face up at me, "it's giving desperate."
I rolled my eyes shamelessly but decided not to be petty, taking a bite of the banana instead of answering her back.
"Y-yeah I do," Toby scratched his neck a bit as his head jerked to the side, " want me to t-take you?"
"Ye-"
"No," Amy interrupted me, "she'll be too busy hanging out with her very best friend at Liam's shit party."
"Right," I scrunched my face up a bit, "I'll go to a party that you'll drag me away from at the first sign of me actually having fun."
"You think that guy who was trying to skewer you was fun?" she was smiling but I knew it wasn't a good one.
"Maybe, I dunno?" I shrugged, confused myself, "why is it so wrong that I wanna see the guy I like?"
"We agreed to spend the weekend together-"
"I'm not allowed to change my mind now?"
She paused in her tracks, "Are you really doing this again?"
"Doing what again?"
"Playing the victim so you can justify doing whatever the fuck you want to do with no consequences."
I shook my head, dropping my shoulders. What the hell was even happening?
"Kit just go to Liam's party with me," Amy finished stashing away a jar of spices before she turned to look at me directly, "I wanna spend time with you. You know when he gets back you won't even remember I exist."
I grinned at the way she rolled her eyes by the end of her sentence.
"That's not likely but fine. I'll go to Liam's shit party."
"C-can we come?" Toby asked gesturing to himself and Hoodie and I immediately shook my head.
No way. These two would definitely stand out, even in a crowd.
"Absolutely not," Amy seemed to agree.
Done with my banana, I deposited the skin into a nearby trashcan and sighed internally.
Amy pulled her phone out of her back pocket and I sighed again, this time out loud.
Why couldn't I have a normal boyfriend who can at least text me he's okay instead of someone whose only use for a phone would probably be as a murder weapon?
I grabbed a bottle of water and started to chug from it as I headed back up the stairs, texting Sara that I was still alive and missing her. About a minute later she sent me a voice message of the twins babbling in the background while she proceeded to complain about everything she's heard on the news lately.
It made me embarrassed to think of the things I've done under her roof. If she had caught us it would've ruined what I worked so hard to maintain.
I killed Mason for this.
I liked things this way though. It felt like I was just slightly dipping my toes into a monster of a river with its rushing waters threatening to pull me under and wash me away. One wrong move could end the whole charade.
One wrong move could end me.
I sent her back a message before closing out of the messaging app and going to my home screen.
My wallpaper was a picture of Amy and me after her birthday last October. She'd wanted us to go to a Halloween Party dressed as silent hill nurses but just before the big day I was rushed to the ER to get my tonsils removed.
In the picture, she'd come to visit me after the surgery was a success and had gotten one of the nurses to snap a pic of her standing over my hospital bed with her fake knife and bloody disfigured nurse's outfit.
Despite the fact that we sometimes bicker like an old married couple, I loved Amy. She was always looking out for me no matter what. She definitely made me feel like I could be more confident in myself too, by just being unashamedly herself.
I swiped the screen, my thumb pressing on the gallery widget. Immediately a slew of pictures popped up and I swallowed. Pictures of that night; when I met him.
I had hoped when I got my new phone and transferred my data, that those images and videos would have been lost in the process. No such luck.
Clicking on the first video, I watched in silence as the camera panned the deserted kitchen area before stopping at the 'Employees Only' door where blood was slowly seeping out from under it.
The video ended and I clicked on the following one, inside the room this time where the bodies of the employees lay still, smiles carved into their faces.
My heart was thudding in my chest in excitement as I watched the camera zoom in on the carnage. I exited that video as well and my finger hovered over a video that didn't look like it was from the diner.
I clicked on the video and immediately there was shuffling over the speakers, it seemed that the phone was lying on the floor of the cabin. In the room where I killed Cassandra.
"Are you gonna kill me?"
Was that my voice?
More shuffling. I peered at the video feed on the screen but I could only see the ceiling fan and the very translucent shadows that the camera managed to capture dancing against the wall.
"Who are you?" my stomach clenched at the sound of Masky's voice over the speakers.
I remember this moment.
My response was barely picked up by the microphone but his next words were so spine-chilling I bit into my lower lip painfully to stave off the wave of butterflies that were rioting inside me.
"I could end your life right now," was his voice always that appealing? This made me miss Masky even more. From the very first day we met he'd decided I was his, didn't he? The idea alone was exhilarating to think about.
When my breathing picked up and my chest was heaving the video ended abruptly. I swallowed and quickly highlighted all the videos and pictures from that night on, pressing the trash can to confirm the pop-up asking if I was sure.
I didn't need any part of my old life intruding on my peace. Here everything was perfectly balanced. I could dance at a house party and kiss a killer under wraps.
I didn't need to kill anyone else either I could just be with Masky in secret. Nothing had to change.
Talk about the best of both worlds.
"You looking for an outfit already?" Amy asked as she walked into the room, unaware of my thudding heart. She sure had great timing.
I turned and went over to her, wrapping my arms around her waist in a small hug, "sorry I'm an ass sometimes."
"I'm used to it," she grinned, patting my head, "now help me figure out a way to ditch those two idiots downstairs."
