Ludic (adjective): full of fun and high spirits

“Everybody quiet!!”

At her overwhelming shout, the room snapped to silence. The LED lights stopped flashing rainbows and stopped on a modest white. Blaring beats of music kept thundering through the room, but a quick hand from the crowd swiftly shut it off.

All eyes fell upon the two girls in the middle of the dance floor.

“Yes, thank you! Peace at last!” The one that roared a moment ago was loudly saying, her voice reverberating in the silent space. “Now, I don’t want a peep from any of you until my friend says what she thinks!”

Her friend, or more accurately, her polar opposite, peeked through the curtains of her dark long hair and nervously glanced across the unfamiliar faces around.

“Go on! Don’t worry! I know you always have fun thoughts!” Like a sun beaming next to a shy moon, the energetic girl eagerly grabbed her friend by the shoulders. “You got this! Nobody’s gonna interrupt you, okay?! Go for it!”

The introvert returned a weak smile. There was hair in her eyes, so she reached out with a timid hand and brushed the strands aside. “Well, um… I think that this party has been very fun-”

“Woooo!!” A jubilant howl erupted from the first girl. “That’s what I’m talkin’ about! I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying it! Now, why don’t we turn the music up?! C’mon DJ, even louder than before!”

Rolling like drums through the room were the same explosive beats as before and the LED lights restarted their seizures of colors.

The shy girl laughed softly under her breath. Only her best friend could command the entire room to shut up and listen, only to interrupt her herself.
