I'm not sure why I still write

The words no longer fulfill

I start to wonder if I was ever bright

I think I've always been ill

The darkness hovers over my life

Crushing me, breaking me down

Many relationships couldn't handle the strife

Just like the one now is about to drown

Watching my love slip away

But my hands are tied

It's never been easy to pray

As the belief and reassurances slide

I'm not sure why I write anymore

There's no relief in on the page

The darkness has reached my core

Keeping my soul trapped in a cage
