《How I Became A Jarl》Journey To New Land pt. 7

Since it was my last day at Sehus so I wanted to eat at that restaurant one last time. I have kind of gotten used to this city and those religious fanatics no longer irritate me… Until they approach me and talk about their goddess.
Out of nowhere, I felt an itching in place of my tattoo. I rolled up my sleeve and it was shining. Does that mean… he is close? I looked around at first I tried to do it slowly to not look suspicious but I couldn’t see him. Then I instinctively looked behind me and there was someone with a gray cloak hiding his face.
When I started to run he did the same. He tried to hide between people but when I used False Fear everyone but him ran away in panic. This time it looked like he didn’t want to hide anymore, just run. He pushed everyone in his way. Some bigger group of people get out of the way for him and looked at him. Didn’t look like they’re gonna make a path for me. I jumped on some boxes and grabbed a sign and jumped over them. I’m not used to parkour so my landing definitely slowed me down. At the last second, I noticed him going into some alley. When I walked around a corner I saw him climbing the rope that was attached to someone’s balcony.
[ Eric ]
“Wish me luck…” Hoping for some luck I kissed my ax and threw it at the rope.
He fell down on the boxes. I could finally see his face. Skinny blond guy with a short beard and a scar on his left eye. Looked like he was blind in that eye.
[ Eric ]
“Why did you KILL THEM!!!” I shouted.

[ Cloaked Men ]
“Who? What are you talking about!” Said the irritated man.
[ Eric ]
“I know it’s you…”
[ Cloaked Men ]
“Who? And how?”
I showed him my tattoo it was glowing a bit so the person I’m after is close to me. When I took a few steps forward it got even brighter.
[ Eric ]
“That’s how I know you killed those wolves…”
[ Cloaked Men ]
“Oh… Oh, haha… That’s what you’re talking about… but… I didn’t kill any wolves. I killed monsters, beings created by a god.”
[ Eric ]
“But WHY!”
[ Cloaked Men ]
“I just did something… that their mother couldn’t do. She asked me to… Kill her untrained children.” As he said that he showed me his silver tattoo with a half moon and circles with symbols of them or should I say runes that were on his chest.
[ Eric ]
“I have something similar to do… But this time… you’re the target.”
I threw my second ax at him. He grabbed one box and stopped the ax with it. Suddenly the box broke because of my Lucky Throw. A few splinters of the box stabbed him in the face.
[ Cloaked Men ]
“I have no time to toy with you…” Said the man as he went into the shadows. He disappeared like there was an invisible curtain.
[ Eric ]
“Coward! Come and fight!”
I shouted but there were no answers to my yelling. Some guards approached me and asked what happened and I explained that I chased someone who was behaving oddly. I didn’t tell them the truth because he is mine to deal with. While I was explaining everything I noticed that Skyge is no longer on my shoulder. When did he disappear?

[ Skyge ]
“MASTER! Master!” Howled Skyge as he walked by the alley. I whistled in response and he heard that. “Master! Why did you run off that suddenly!”
[ Eric ]
“Sorry… Just saw some thief… When did I lose you?”
[ Skyge ]
“At the very beginning when you started running like a madman… Why are you behaving so weirdly? Or you’re just like that?”
[ Eric ]
“Umm… Let’s say that this place makes me feel like that… At least I’ll get paid for that.”
I ate one last time at this nameless restaurant with dishes from my world. Pancakes! Spaghetti! Dumplings! Sweet muffins! Um… I might have ordered too much… And I ate all of that… before going back to the sea… Let’s hope I won’t vomit on the ship. I don’t want to row with a full belly.
Slowly but surely I walked to our ship. The ship was getting loaded with supplies like food, drinks, clothes, and tools. Pure Sun is really helping that much with such a small village? It really made me smile seeing Tae working while I was just resting… Am I bullying him too much… Nah! It just makes me smile a bit when a “good” guy gets tossed around a little… The more I think the more I know why Loki chose me.
We were supposed to be here for two weeks but we were here only for six days. Maybe that’s for the better. On the ship, I didn’t see one person. There was someone with us on the way here but I can’t seem to find him.
[ Eric ]
“Hey!” I shouted and waved toward Astvar.
[ Astvar ]
“Oh. You’re finally here.”
[ Eric ]
“Yeah… So are we waiting for the priest or something?”
[ Astvar ]
“Not this time. We were only honored to have him on the ship only on the way here, to Pure Sun to his home clan. We’ve got the goods and that’s all that they did for us till next fall.”
[ Eric ]
“Do you mean this time if the monster appears we’ll need to fight?”
[ Astvar ]
“That’s the main reason that I hired more than four guards…”
[ Eric ]
“Reasonable. Okay… Then let’s go and we’ll prepare for the worse just in case.

The Spirit Games
Bullied at school and neglected by his parents, Tom Fiddle finds himself at his wit's end, until he receives a strange email offering him a job as a cultivation clan's spirit automaton. But what *is* a spirit automaton? After a successful application, he gets an answer to his question: a spirit automaton is an arcane spirit attached to a pocket realm. They can shape this miniature world to their liking and conjure spiritual entities, usually monsters, out of thin air. Their role is to create and administer trial-by-fires. These life and death competitions determine whether a disciple is *chosen* or merely *trash* that deserves to be left by the wayside. Tom's new responsibility will affect the lives of millions of cultivators and shape the future of hundreds of worlds, dozens of galaxies, and eventually, the universe itself. Will Tom use his newfound power to torment others and merely benefit himself? Or will he rewrite the course of history and transform the path of cultivation from a path of blood and destruction, to one of peace and tranquility?

Kichiro's Rampage
Meet Kichiro, the son of a samurai. A social outcast, he leaves his home with nothing but a musket and a sword, determined to carve himself a niche in a chaotic world of dragons and leviathans. This fiction incorporates LitRPG elements, but it's not set in a VR. It's set in a fantastical world based loosely on East Asia in the 16th and 17th Century, when the Ming Dynasty was on its last legs, with the addition of magic and monsters. I totally stole the stat tables from Exterminatus, the author of Everybody Loves Large Chests, so let me credit him for that. I'm new to writing so please don't hesitate to criticise, and reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Parental Controls
Reeve Williams always felt more at home in vivid virtual reality than in drab real reality, partly as an escape from the very real embarrassment of her technically inept parents, Walter and Wanda. When Reeve’s parents give her a new total-immersion virtual reality system for her birthday, Reeve reluctantly agrees to show them what it’s like…just for a few minutes. But a mistake only her technophobe father would make leaves Reeve facing the prospect of spending months in the greatly accelerated, fantastically complex, brutally unforgiving game world. With her parents. Posts will be every M/W/F. If I ever decide to try to turn Parental Controls into an ebook, I won't do so in such a way that I'd need to take down what I've posted to Royal Road. Thanks for reading!
