《She's Mother {Rengoku x Demon! Reader}》Christmas Special

This is short, sweet, and to the point. I hope you guys enjoy it!
You tried to cover your body more as a nipping wind whipped through your temporary home. Rengoku had invited you to spend this holiday called "Christmas" with him and his family, and he had just exited and accidentally left the door cracked.
You wouldn't complain, considering you were a guest, but the whole holiday was confusing for you. Your children were still with Ubuyashiki and you wondered if he too celebrated this strange event.
Rengoku rushed back in, rubbing his hands up and down his arms in hopes of gathering more warmth, the door clicking shut behind him. "Sorry, there was a messenger from Master Ubuyashiki, he said that the children are fairing well in the cold." You smiled up at him, sitting in front of the lit hearth, "thank you Rengoku, I really can't thank you enough for all you've done for my family."
He blushed and turned away, a hand raising and running through his long and tangled hair. "It's nothing really, the praise is unnecessary, you did save my life after all." You laughed softly, "then I guess that makes us even?"
He smiled back at you, sitting next to you, "yes I believe it does." You smiled at each other but his intense stare caused you to grow further embarrassed. You turned, face flushed deeply. "Oh," he spoke out softly, "please call me by my given name when we're alone." His tone was soft, his gaze softer.
"Of course, Kyojuro," you breathed, flush deepening even more so. He found his own face heating with bashfulness. It sounded so good coming from you, he bit his lip unconsciously and leaned further into your space.
Just as he shifted his weight to bring a hand to cup your face you broke the silence, "so what is this holiday you invited me to celebrate anyway?" He was dumbfounded, "you don't know what Christmas is?" He questioned.
You shook your head, and he was thoroughly surprised. "It's pretty common and popular here now. I," he paused, "I'm not sure why you don't know the holiday." He mumbled to himself, rubbing his chin in thought.
"I've been out of touch for a long time, but I will celebrate with you nonetheless," you smiled and rubbed his shoulder. He sat still, thinking, for only another moment before he snapped back and continued conversing with you.
You had a blanket wrapped around your shoulders, accidentally cutting him off mid-sentence to ask, "aren't you cold Kyojuro?" You stared up at the flame hashira curiously. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I interrupted you." You gasped and covered your mouth with a hand.

When you were still human a man could have punished a woman for interrupting him. Your husband would never have been that cruel, and while you firmly believed Rengo-Kyojuro would never do that, you were always wary.
"Oh... A little," he smiled sheepishly. You opened one side of your blanket, and you'd never seen a man, who wasn't fighting for his life, move so fast. He ducked in, snuggling up to your side and grabbing the blanket that you had held out to wrap around himself.
You withheld your laughter, simply snuggling back into the larger body. He was warm, and you wanted to melt into him, merge your beings in hopes of staying this warm for the rest of your life.
If you could purr you were sure you would be shaking his bones with the forcefulness of the noise. You couldn't purr, however, so you just tucked your body as close as possible. Somehow the two of you ended with you tucking yourself so closely that your head rested under his chin, and he took the liberty of resting his chin there.
You didn't comment, enjoying the quiet and peacefulness of the interaction, and he seemed to feel the same way. He lowered his head, taking a deep breath, breathing in your scent and reveling in the sweetness of it.
He had a fleeting thought, a truly awful one at that, he just wanted to bite at you. And it was incredibly tempting, but the action would likely be poorly received. So, he elected not to do as he wished and simply sit there and enjoy your presence.
You had both managed to drift off, and you awoke to a soft snicker. You were barely coherent as you attempted to figure out who had laughed. You turned and saw the smallest and cutest kid to exist. He looked like a small Kyojuro and you, for a split second, wondered if that's what you and Kyojuro's children would look like.
You shook the thought away, simply staring at the young boy. Everything finally clicked as you had woken up enough to process what was in front of you. "Oh, Senjuro, would you like to join?" He blushed but scurried over. You wrapped your arms around him the blanket following, and only his head popping out from beneath it.
You laughed softly, the boy curling into your embrace. You brushed your lips on the top of his head, leaning back into Kyojuro and allowing sleep to take you once again.

The next time you awoke, it was because the heat had become sweltering. You found Kyojuro had wrapped his arms around your waist, and Senjuro had curled up in your lap. You had attempted to wiggle away, but the grip Kyojuro had on you only tightened. You huffed and threw the blanket off of you.
He grumbled, but none of it you could make out, and pushed his face into your neck. You blushed and attempted to wiggle away again. He groaned, teeth grazing over your skin. You froze, and he just grumbled and shoved his face into your hair.
You were going to die, you weren't sure why, but every one of your organs felt like they were about to shut down. You didn't know how to get out of his hold and decided to sit there until one of them woke up.
Kyojuro woke not long after you did, shifting around and kissing your shoulder before fully awakening. When he was finally awake enough to realize what he was doing, he scrambled away, chest heaving.
He looked like he was about to pass out, and you thought you might as well. You hadn't expected him to give you such a clear display of affection, and you desperately wanted to feel his lips on you again.
"I-I am so sorry (Y/n)" he stuttered, bowing low. You turned away, blushing, "it's fine." It wasn't but if you said anything about it you feared he would take it negatively. Senjuro stirred at that moment, starting Kyojuro. "W-when did he get here?" He was thoroughly confused. He should have awoken if Senjuro had come in and disturbed the pile the two of you had created.
"I'm not sure," you spoke candidly. "He came in and saw us and I invited him in, he cuddled right up," you smiled gently and pet his hair tenderly. Kyojuro felt his heart swell. You really couldn't have been any more perfect in his eyes. He just wished he had the courage to do something about his feelings.
He knelt beside you then, gently shaking Senjuro. "Time to wake up baby brother," his speech was soft, but his shake was firm. Senjuro stirred, mumbled nonsense, and wrapped himself further around you.
You couldn't help but chuckle at the young boy's actions and put a hand on Kyojuro's shoulder. "It's alright, really. I'll move him if necessary." Kyojuro smiled at you and wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
If he didn't tell you how he felt he would likely implode. "(Y/n), I have something to tell you," he spoke delicately as if you were a fawn that would be spooked easily. You nodded, fearing the worse. He cleared his throat, trying to go through with his plan. He knew if he didn't tell you, you'd think it was something terrible.
"I... I have deep romantic feelings for you." He turned away, thoroughly flustered. After an awkward silence, he finally looked back at you. Your face was the color of his sword and your mouth was agape.
Kyojuro was ashamed of his actions. You didn't like him after all. This would be awkward and uncomfortable, he thought with distaste. "I," you gasped but threw your arms around his shoulders. "I like you too Kyojuro." And god he wanted to kiss you so badly.
"May I kiss you?" He whispered, praying to whatever higher being, that you would say yes. "Any time you want Kyojuro," you smiled sweetly. He leaned forward slowly, gently gripping the base of your neck to anchor himself. This kiss was chaste and sweet, but everything you wanted.
You sighed into the kiss, chasing after him as he slowly pulled away. He rested his forehead against your own, breathing each other in. "Thank you for the best Christmas present (Y/n)."
You smiled and laughed slightly, "try toping this Christmas next year," you joked. He smirked, leaning in to kiss you again. You giggled but reciprocated the kiss. A gruff noise broke the two of you out of your haze.
There stood Shinjiro, Kyojuro's father. Even though you were an adult you were thoroughly embarrassed. Shinjiro simply pointed upwards before walking away. You both looked up, to see a small plant.
While you were confused by its presence, Kyojuro laughed. You stared at him quizzically. "It's mistletoe," he laughed. You were more confused now. "Whoever is under the mistletoe has to kiss," he said and proceeded to laugh.
You couldn't help but chuckle yourself, and as Kyojuro leaned in again, Senjuro awoke. "Did I miss something?" He questioned sleepily. Kyojuro smiled brightly, "why yes my dear little brother you did."
I know this wasn't really "christmassy" but I figured it would be a decent enough special chapter. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and your Christmas!

The Weather Vane
This is the first few chapter of my new book available on Amazon. The beginning is very light and fun, but more mature content comes later. From medieval fantasy to ultra high-tech to dinosaurs, The Weather Vane is a grippingly fast-paced adventure full of fun and excitement, literary flourish, and colorful characters. A group of ascendant masters find themselves in the afterlife and learn that they are newly recruited into the cosmic battle of good versus evil. Before they can join the fight, shipwreck strikes and they are lost in the ether. Stranded in a magical land beyond the reaches of the universe, The Weather Vane follows our crew of heroes as they try to piece things back together even while The Dark Lord’s forces march, maraud, and murder at every turn. Themes of darkness chase the overall levity of The Weather Vane which suffers not a lull as the climax begins near the beginning of the book and drives on through the greatly satisfying finish. The most epic of epics.
