"Bye..... We'll finish up. Make sure to be here by 5."
"Alright. Won't miss it."
Alex made his way back home after that.
He tossed his hoodie aside as he fell in the couch. Turning on the TV, he played a little games before heading to his room.
*Chirp*
A notification came in.
Mutation notification: powers stabilized.
" Finally." he said to himself.
_______
"So.... Did you have fun?" Abigail. Moves around their room oraginzing some stuff talking to Julie who sat in her bed staring in the air empty minded.
"Mm." she nodded.
"Julie. What's wrong?"Abigail stopped as she came closer to Julie when she noticed she wasn't her usual self.
" Nothing. "
" Come on. " Abigail sat beside Julie," You can tell me. "
Julie flashed a playful smile at Abigail," We almost died today. "
" What! "Abigail abruptly stood up," Why didn't you tell me, are you joking right now?"
"What happened?"
"We almost got ran over."
"Why didn't you tell us earlier? Did you get hurt or something?" hurriedly Abigail checked Julie's body.
"No no. Nothing is sort happened." Julie laughed at her paranoid sister.
"Alex..." Ralph noticed Alex enter the lounge.
"Good after noon." Alex greeted.
"Good after noon." Ralph replied as he approached Alex smiling,"Now that you have stabilized your powers, guess what?"
"What?" Alex couldn't help his excitement as he looked into his uncles eyes.
"You can now officially join us."
"What really?"
"Yeah, well you and Joseph over there." Ralph pointed at the carefree teen munching on some potato chips watching TV.
"Wait. What?" Alex looked at Joseph.
Joseph, being not to far away heard the whole conversation. A mischievous smile forming on his face, he looked at Alex;"Sap kid."
"You can't be serious right?"
"Yes I am. Since he needs money for his mom's treatment. We can't just let him be out as the villain." Ralph said bemused by Alex's shock.
Alex had finally been allowed into the group after so much effort yet this kid just walks in and is already selected.
Why wouldn't he be shocked.

But he understood Ralph's explanation perfectly.
" And besides, we need to prepare for which ever organisation Gaia is working in. I don't think she's working alone."
"Alright alright." Alex simply sighed.
*Chirp* a notification came in.
Alex raised his wrist where his eyes could see and displayed the notification.
Mutation notification: new mutation: telekinesis, category: interlectual, location: brain. Lvl: 0
Alex's face lit up when he saw the notification. He finally had a power he could actively use. Why wouldn't he be delighted.
Ralph, who was standing infront of him couldn't help but ask, "Why the excited face?"
"New mutation, telekinesis."
"Hmmm..."
"That's perfect. I can now set your bracelet to receive emergency calls."
Alex left the hq quite happy.
Along the way, lec thought of which gift he should buy for Julie and Abigail.
He passed by the mall, to matching necklaces of which he finally got.
They were golden colored necklaces with a half heart at the bottom.
When he joined the hearts together it spelled for ever.
"Perfect!"he thought to himself.
But then, an alarm went off. Someone had stolen something.
And just then, three men carrying large black bags ran passed him.
And right behind them, police ran after them.
When the men saw they had nowhere else to ran, they pulled out guns from their bags.
"Shit!" one of the cops said pulling out his pistol.
"Stay where you are. Nobody move."one of the robbers said grabbing a little child who was arms length away from him.
He pointed his submachine gun at the little boy.
Although the cops had halted their steps, they still pointed their pistols towards the robbers.
" Put down your guns. "
The police were reluctant to do so prompting one of the robbers to shoot at the ceiling.
BANG!
The loud gun shot echoed through out the mall.
Everyone screamed in panic as they ran in different directions.
The mall now looked like a chicken pen.
The people all around ran aimlessly like headless chicken.
The reluctant police slowly lowered their guns as slowly and raised up their hands in surrender.
"Good." one of the robbers smiled very pleased, "Now don't try any funny business. Kick over the guns." he said.

Slowly by slowly, they withdrew with the little boy along with them.
At this point, Joseph had teleportes to the mall and met up with Alex.
Alex and looked for a private place to gear up.
For Joseph, he simply put his hoodie over his head and wore a mask that covers his nose and mouth.
"Stop right there." Alex and Joseph stood in between the cops and the robbers.
The robber a promptly turned back to see who dare stopped them.
As soon as they noticed the pair, they burst out into a loud laughter.
"Hahahaha. This is serious and business kids. We are real bad guys
Better turn around and leave before we hurt you. This isnt the time to play super hero."
They laughed again.
"Well... We're real good guys." Joseph stayed staring right into the man's eyes.
His eye sparking up and lighting electric blue.
The bemused smile on the robbers' face was replaced with a terrified frown. "Fuck! Metas!"
Immediately, they pointed their guns at Alex and Joseph.
The one that held the young boy moved to the guard rails and held the boy over. Threatening to throw him.
As Alex and Joseph were about to advance, they immediately halted when they saw this.
But then their bracelets flashed red twice.
Revealing playful smirks they advanced towards the robbers.
The robbers were immediately petrified with this.
"Why havent they halted?"
Immedistely, they attempted to pull the trigger.
But just as they were about to shoot, electricity bolted from Joseph's hands hitting the robbers hands that held the guns one my one.
Subconsciously forcing them to drop the guns.
Followed by which Alex, used telekinesis and pulled the guns to him.
The robber that held the boy seeing this, started shaking; "Don't come any closer. Or else I'll drop him." he said.
A ray of hope lit up in his heart when he Alex and Joseph halting their steps.
But then, something unexpected happened.
Alex and Joseph leisurely leaned against the guard rails.
"This place is beautiful."
"I know right."
"What is up with them? Don't they see what is going on." these questions filled the robber mind.
He surveyed his surrounding noticing that his companions had already been hand cuffed.
"Oh no."
Immedistely he let go of the boy letting him fall from several stories down to the ground.
But all this was useless. To Ralph who was as fast as light, the world came to a stand still as blue lightning pulsed around his body.
He couldn't help but laugh at the scared expression on the robbers face.
Now that the world was on a standstill, everything looked like a photograph.
He Immedistely jumped down to the ground right in time to catch the falling boy before speeding back up and putting cuffs on the robber.
Those who saw this scene could only see black speed in a mommemt besides the two robbers, then disappear and reappear downstairs catching the boy and placing him down then disappear again and reappearing next to the third robber putting hand cuffs on him then disappear again.
Joseph walked to the third robber and touched him sending electricity through his arm and onto the robbers body making him fall to the ground paralyzed.
He then picked up a blue disk from his pocket and threw it in the empty air.
As if it hit something, it formed a small explodion forming a small space crack in the air.
This crack slowly expanded and a blue portal was formed.
Immediately, both Alex and Joseph jumped though the portal.
Immediately, the portal shrank in the blink of an eye completely disappearing.
This whole incident caused an uproar in the entire mall.
Many had already pulled out their smart phones and had filled the whole incident from the very beginning.
And obviously, such things couldn't escape the media's attention.
The police took the robbers into custody with news reporters interviewing the witnesses of the incident.
But then, another portal formed and the hooded boy stepped out of it.
"Sorry.... I just need to grab a bottle." Joseph said apologetically walking to a vending machine and picking a cam of soda before jumping back through the portal and disappearing.
"Did you get that?" one of the news reporters asked her camera man completely forgetting she was live.
"Yeah."

March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
