Volume 2, Chapter 1 - That time I was reincarnated into another world and had a strange dream
Ask anybody in my class, and they would all agree: I was the raddest kid in all of Neo Shinjuku. I may not have been the smartest boy in school, or the most handsome, but if there was one thing I was proud of, it was the new skateboard I'd gotten last Blissmas.
I'd been practicing with it every day, and now I was even able to do an olly! I was the only 3rd-grader in my entire school who could skateboard. And even among the older kids, I was one of the only ones who could do any kind of tricks. I raced around the corner, grabbing onto a signpost and hopping over a Public Sanitation Droid as it swept up a homeless Class-M man who had been sleeping on the sidewalk.
The board lifted off the ground, and I felt a surge of fear and adrenaline as my momentum carried me up until I was almost fully horizontal with my arm. I spun around the pole and slammed back onto the ground, somehow landing the trick. That... that was amazing! I looked up at the security cameras and wondered if I'd be able to ask Public Control for a clip of that to show my friends!
I took a ramp down to street level, hopping off the board so that I didn't go too fast. My neighborhood had forgotten to pay their monthly traffic bill, so the stoplights were off today. I'd have to be careful, Especially now that schools had let out for the day. Traffic usually got really dangerous around this time.
I walked down the side of the street, looking up as the sun started to dip below the city skyline, and night began to fall. This was my favorite time of day: just after the sun had set, in those first few hours before the local gangs came out in force. The lights from the holosigns and projector-ads lit up the night, glowing in the haze and making every chrome or glass surface dance with color. I lifted my board and propped it up on my shoulder as I watched the dazzling display of light and sound.
Something caught my eye from the alley, and I tensed up, ready to run in case it was a chromehead, a junkie, or worse, a roving taxman. I let out a sigh of relief when I noticed it was just a cat. It looked like it'd just woken up, stretching in that cool way that cats stretch, its paws splayed out in front of it. I crouched down and reached out to it. It must have been pretty young, because it came over to let me pet it instead of running in fear.
Still, I wasn't about to look a gift cat in the mouth, and I gave it all kinds of nice pets and scritches before standing back up. Cats were nice and all, but I shouldn't hang around for too long, or else I might run into trouble. Satisfied with the pets, the cat walked away from me, and started crossing the street. I should probably get going too, so- huh?
I looked back at the cat, who had stopped in the middle of the street to clean itself. Headlights flashed over my face, and I felt my stomach plummet. An Autolorry was coming down the street! The AI drivers only cared about getting their shipments in on time. They didn't stop for people, let alone cats!

"Neko-san!" I shouted, (TL Note: Neko-san means cat-san). "Get out of the road!"
The cat turned and looked at me in confusion, either not understanding my childish accent, or not having a firm grasp on the subtleties of language. More importantly though, he wasn't moving. He winked his eyes at me and started walking back towards me, getting even further into the truck's path. No! That's not what I meant! The Autolorry was barreling towards him! I had to...
I threw my board down and jumped onto it, shoving to pick up speed as I shot into the street. I'd get speed going, then lean over and swoop the cat out of harm's way, before the Autolorry could get him. I went to shove one more time, but as soon as my foot left the board, I realized that my neighborhood hadn't paid their pothole insurance either! My foot slipped as it landed directly into a massive pothole that the city had dug back up. My shoe caught the edge, and I tripped, launching forwards and rolling on the ground, directly into the path of the truck. It blared its horn, thereby giving me ample warning and releasing itself from legal culpability.
The truck was bearing down on me. There was no time for me to get out of the way! Acting on instinct, I grabbed the stunned cat and tossed it to safety. The bright lights of the truck shone down on me, bleaching out the neon that danced in the sky. I clenched my eyes shut and...
"Hello?"
A voice was calling me in the afterlife. It sounded like... a girl?
"Are you okay?"
"にゃー!” (TL Note: にゃー means "meow")
I opened my eyes. I was... still in Neo-Shinjuku? Had the Autolorry missed me? I sat up and saw that the truck had luckily sheared in half down the center, narrowly avoiding me. The two halves were still smoking, and people were already helping themselves to the surviving packages that had spilled out of the cargo container, like some giant steel pinata. The cat I had saved had come back, sitting on the ground next to me and rubbing against my knee.
"Thank goodness!" the voice said from behind me. I turned and saw a girl about my age, standing in the middle of the street. Huh... she was wearing the same school uniform as me, but I don't remember having seen her anywhere. She was a bit on the short side, and kind of scrawny. She looked down at me with concern painted on all of the thousands of eyes that spun on gold rings orbiting her head. She had long purple hair tied into a ponytail, and a white bow ribbon that sat primly on her head, just below her floating 4-dimensional crown.
Huh? She might have been wearing the same uniform as I was, but I don't think I'd seen her before. Sure, she might have been kind of average-looking, but I was pretty sure I would have noticed if somebody with such a distinctive bow had been in my class.
"Um..." I said, "I-I'm okay. Who... who are you?"
The girl let out a sigh of relief and smiled, placing one tiny hand on her chest.
"Me? I'm Kamiko! What's your name?"
I rubbed at the back of my head. My name? It was... right... I gave her a short bow.
"My name is..."
"Hiro-san!" Bonbon shouted, waking me up from my dreams. My eyes shot open, and I immediately squinted as they adjusted to the glaring daytime sun, made worse by the fact that I was laying in the back of a rickety cart and staring up at the sky. It was times like these that I was glad that I had been reincarnated into a Kickass Gamelike LitRPG Isekai Fantasy world. I quickly used my [Instantly Learn Skill] skill to obtain [Sunlight Resistance - Lvl 1] and activated it, the pain in my eyes quickly fading.

That dream... I hadn't thought about my previous life in a long time. It'd been several days, which was an eternity for somebody with my attention span. And something from back when I was still in grade school? That'd been the first time I met Kamiko, hadn't it? I hadn't known at the time, but she was actually a God! She transferred into my class shortly after that, and...
"Hiro-san!" Bonbon shouted again, a little more insistent this time.
I glanced over at the elf who was crouched over me. Her hair was still tied into one massive braid, hanging over her slender shoulders, with one single strand of blond hair that always seemed to come undone. She'd changed out of her chef coat, and was wearing a grass-green sundress, which clung to her busty anime babe figure in a very flattering way. By which I mean it showed off the fact that she had very big boobies.
"Huh?" I asked sagely, staring within a foot or two of her face. "Are we there yet?"
She sighed and stood up, rolling her blue eyes. "Of course not. The Kamikist temple is few days from the Starter Town. How long do you think you've been asleep?"
"Wan!" Wanda offered from the front of the cart I was riding in. She turned to Bonbon and grinned a smile. "Master loves to sleep, wan!"
I frowned. I wasn't sure if I'd say that I loved to sleep. I just did it for significant portions of the day, every day. Huh... maybe I did have a problem, actually. I sat up reached over to Wanda, giving my [Doggirl Companion] headpats to thank her for opening my eyes to my dangerous addiction. A cheerful smile spread over her face, from her floppy dog ears to the heavy bags under her eyes, all the way down to the fang that seemed to perpetually be on display any time her mouth was open, and some of the times when it wasn't.
"Sure," Bonbon replied, placing her hands on her hips. "But for days?"
Wanda chuckled, shaking her head and taking a long, several second chug from the bottle of vodka she was nursing. She let out a contented groan, before smacking her lips . "This would hardly be the first time, wan. Shortly following our first meeting, he used his [Appraisal] skill on the [Artes Catalogue], wan. He was blissfully dead to the world for the better part for several days. I gave due consideration to abandoning him, but his fugue cleared and he reawakened ere I'd been able to reach a decision, wan."
I smiled to myself, remembering the the events from a few days ago. When I found out that I'd been asleep that long, I was surprised that she'd stuck around. I guess it really was true that [Slaves] were super loyal! No wonder so many people had them!
Bonbon gave me an odd look, before shaking her head.
"A-anyways. We're not there yet."
What?! How long was this going to take? I was disappointed, and immediately began planning a major sulk.
We'd accepted a job from some old [Guildmaster] guy to go help out the [All-Female Paladin Order] with some barbarian troubles. Considering the rest of this Badass Isekai Fantasy World was full of hot busty anime babes, I was willing to bet that all or most of the female [Paladins] were also hot busty anime babes. I could hardly wait until we got there! We were moving so slow! I could probably use one of my skills to make it go faster, but that would also mean putting in effort, which I wholeheartedly refused.
"Why'd you wake me up, then?" I asked, crossing my arms as I felt the sulk coming on.
"Well," Bonbon said, gesturing off the side of the road, opposite the direction I was facing. "You asked me to wake you up if we saw anything that was, um..."
Her elf ears dipped and she sighed. She held up her fingers to make air quotes, looking to the side as if one of the random trees or boulders on the side of the road might be judging her.
"Totally badass..."
I nodded. That had been the explicit order I'd given my team before I laid down for some gamer naptimes.
"Well," she asked, "does that qualify?"
She pointed once more, and I followed the direction of her pointing this time, to see a massive skull the size of a building on a hill looking over the path, expertly hidden behind a few potted plants. My eyes widened in surprise and chuuni glee. I reached over and gave Bonbon headpats for her keen [Elf Eyes], which had somehow spotted it through its nefarious camouflage.
I turned to face the pair as Bonbon ducked out of the way of my headpats, and flashed them both a winning smile and a thumbs up.
"You guys ready for an ADVENTURE?" I asked.
