《Dear, JJ | JJ Maybank》39. freddie's current father.

freddie's current father.
Walking out from the graveyard Otto felt a sense of relief, it was the same relief that you get after delaying a menial five minute task for way too long. Except it wasn't a five minute menial task. It was a lot more serious than that.
It was a big deal for her, she had accepted her father had died, there was no way of pretending to be oblivious to that, she couldn't turn the other way and shove her feelings to the back of the head.
It couldn't work like that, she couldn't pretend her father was still alive without losing her sense of reality. That really wasn't something she felt like losing.
She thought it would sour her mood and taint her day, which was a lot of the reason she didn't bring JJ. She hoped that by the time she got to the Chateau she'd be in a better mood and wouldn't bring down the vibe. But she was content, not overjoyed or ecstatic, that wasn't a situation that you could be either.
She decided he'd be proud of her, of her development as a person, when he died she was so closed off, not letting anyone see anything that was going on in mind. No one was allowed in the fortress that was her head, not even her parents truly ever knew what went on. They were only left to guess and hope she was okay.
There was so much they didn't know, and they would never know about her.
Otto decided what people knew, letting them know enough that they weren't concerned but keeping the truly concerning stuff to herself.
They knew most teenagers dabbled in things like alcohol and sometimes some weed, that's what they had done and knowing Otto it wasn't something that would come as a shock to them. Otto was very purposeful in coming home a little drunk a few times, just tipsy but enough that her parents were aware.
But with them knowing she drank and she hid it poorly they assumed she wouldn't be able to hide anything overly well. They'd find out.
They were very wrong, she slowly fell into the hole of prescription pills. Getting stronger over a few years.
But, then she got pregnant.
And she changed, very quickly. Everything began changing around her and she had to run to keep up, she had to desperately keep her head above water that was rising quickly. And she did, she caught up with the changes and rose to the surface of the water.
The day her father died JJ snaked his way into Otto's head, and he had yet to come out of it.
She may have trapped him in there, not letting him go. Clinging onto him.
But with everything she pushed away something was bound to fight back. Breaking their way through from the prison she created for them.
She was content in the bubble she had created for visiting her father, memories of him still flooded her brain. She didn't want anyone to disturb that, she wasn't ready to break that bubble.
But when demons from your past break free they don't care about what you're feeling.
With her phone turned off sitting comfortablely in her back pocket she walked in the direction of the Chateau, by the time she got back there she'd be able to talk to other people. Not about what she did that day, only JJ knew that.
On her walk a car rolled up next to her, not entirely in her right mind she didn't recognise the car and instead turned to look at it.

With the window rolled down and a cocky smirk that screamed he knew something she didn't Wesley fucking Harrington sat behind the wheel.
Although, there was a good reason for the smirk, he did know something she didn't.
"Get in the car, princess."
"Go suck a dick you arse licking daddy's boy." She said, now looking straight ahead with her middle finger directed at the car.
"One last chance, make it easy on yourself, get in the car."
"I'm not getting in a car with a psychopath. It really doesn't sound like a good idea, does it bud."
He tutted and drove the car further, Otto assumed he was leaving. But she was wrong.
Wes came to collect, he needed her. Afterall, he really was an arse licking daddy's boy.
Once the car sat half a dozen meters ahead of her, he got out, Otto turned on her heel and began walking the other way. She should've run, but she thought he was psychotic and don't a complete devil in human form.
"Why can't you get the message, go. fuck. yourself."
She hadn't seen him in months, she wrongly assumed she was free of him. That he was going to leave her alone and live his own life free of her.
If she knew of the plans in motion she would've sprinted like Usain Bolt was chasing her.
Wes quickly caught up to her, afterall she was walking, not running. He grabbed her arm, tugging her back, she turned around and did something she should've done a long time ago. With the force of her spin and his pull she pulled her hand out and slapped him right across the cheek.
The whole of the Outer Banks could probably her the noise of the slap.
She tried pulling her arm free but he only dug his dirty fingers in tighter.
His face had moved to the side, a bright red hand print quickly raising on the skin of his cheek. After a few seconds he looked back at her, he ran his tongue across his teeth, tainting them with blood. He must've bite his tongue of the side cheek.
"You're gonna regret that, princess."
The word princess held so much condescension, like he was a wolf and she was a sheep. Like he hand her in the palm of her hand.
He did in a way.
Wes began pulling her toward the car and that's when the panic set it, she tried digging the heels of her shoes into the ground but he just continued pulling her step by step to the car. After the slowed progression he rolled his eyes, turned around and threw her over his shoulder. The movement knocked all the air in her lungs out and made her desperate attempt to scream die out.
By the time he opened the door she regaimed her composure she began to scream, she screamed so loud her throat hurt and lungs burned.
But she was in a part of the island people rarely frequented, so the desperate attempts for help fell on deaf (or dead) ears.
When he flipped her on his shoulder her phone slipped from her pocket and clattered to the ground. He slammed the door shut which already had the child lock in place.
She still tried the handle again and again like it would magically open. Slapping her hand against the glass.
Eventually she just stopped, sitting back in the seat.
She couldn't do anything, not at that moment, she had to wait for the perfect time to act. Until then she just needed to play along.

The car drove up to the manor she had been to countless times, although this time the gates, the large garden that sat beneath that sprawling manor never looked so daunting, it lookedl like a prison.
Her own Alkastraz.
When he arrived at the garage the door rolled open, and then rolled closed behind them. It was only then that he unlocked the door.
Her next bright idea was to be as inconvenient as possible, perhaps if she just sat in the car long enough he'd get annoyed and just let her go. Decide she wasn't worth the effort.
It wasn't the best game plan. Not one of her brighter moments.
Wes rolled his eyes when after he opened the door she just sat there, he disappeared into the house and returned a few minutes later.
A gun sat in his hand.
That quickly ruined her inconvenience plan, she got out the cat quickly.
He began walking her through the house, the entire time he had the barrel of the gun pressed tightly against her back.
"This isn't the way this was meant to happen, it wasn't meant to unfold this way. I wanted to protect you from this." He began explaining, confusing her more and more by the second.
"Every summer I saw you, at parties, shopping, going to meals with your parents or swimming. I have spoke to you a few times, mainly at parties. Do you remember me?" He asked, she couldn't decipher what he felt.
What was she meant to say to that.
"No. I must've been drunk." She decided honesty was the best route to take.
"Every time I saw you, each summer you came to the island I loved you a little more. I loved you before you even knew my name. But when I saw you hadn't gone home when you usually did and found out you moved here. Then I knew I had to make a move."
That's got to be considered stalking.
"I had you, you were mine, after so long I finally had you. You were always meant for me, and it happened." He smiled.
"But then you began to slip through my hands, and you weren't just slipping away from me, you slipped right into the hands of the people who tried taking what's mine. What is rightly my family's."
Due to his psychotic ramblings they were walking slowly but eventually they made it to the expansive foyer.
Otto's eyes fell to the cold stone floor and she saw it. The Harrington family crest.
She had seen the drawing John B drew all those months ago, and it was right there.
The Harrington's were following Sarah and John B, they were the one's who tried killing them on numerous occasions.
Otto's stomach dropped so far it probably fell to the floor, she still had no clue what was going on but pieces of the puzzle began to fall place.
Her steps slowed as she tried taking in the information and trying to see the bigger picture, but she was snapped out of her thoughts when Wes pushed the gun further into her back and she kept moving.
They made it to the kitchen, "Sit." He moved the gun from her back to gesture to the dining table.
Swallowing back the mind numbing anxiety that began pumling its way through her body she walked and sat down. On the table in front of the table sat a pair of hand cuffs, he quickly used them, fastening her to the heavy wooden chair.
He sat in the seat opposite her, the gun sitting on the table, out of her reach even if she stood up for it.
Over the hours he offered her food, he offered all of which he refused.
"You need to drink something or you'll pass out." He sounded less concerned and more angry each time he offered. He held the gun in one hand and the glass in the other.
Otto wasn't really thinking clearly at that point so she didn't make rational, well throught out decisions.
She was sick of him threatening her, intimating her and hurting her without repercussions. She spat on him when he leaned down to give it to her, it landed right in the centre of his face.
Wes clenched his jaw.
Then he snapped.
He smacked the butt of the gun right on her forehead, with enough force to split her skin, she could feel the second her skin ripped open. A searing pain erupted around the fresh wound, blood very quickly rolled out of it and down into the hairs on her eyebrow before making its way down to her eye, rolling around the outside as it continued its path down her face.
He looked stone faced, just like he did the night he threw her down the stairs.
"The fuck do you want from me, Wes?"
"You have no clue how valuable you are, Ottilie. As soon as you left me and integrated your life in with the scum you became leverage, and when your little friends Sarah and John B came back your value only grew. Afterall you are not only a friend to the group, and whatever the fuck you are with JJ, but you were also pregnant, and thus they'd do more to protect you. You became more important."
With every word that came out of Wes' mouth Otto felt more and more sick, she was close to throwing up but she didn't have anything in her stomach.
He was so unbelievably insane it was more than terrifying, he was cold and calculated.
Wes was never this smart, he always acted before his brain caught up.
"I watched your every move, every time you went to the disgusting house and sat outside with your friends, I watched your stupid dates at that stupid spot near that tree, I watched when you came out of the hospital with Freddie. I saw everything"
Her head hurt with all the new information being thrown at it, she barely even registered that he knew Freddie's name.
"When you got high on JJ's birthday, and I when I saw you walk to visit your father I knew it was the perfect opportunity. You were alone, in a space without people. You made it too fucking easy for me princess."
"You're so God damn crazy." She tried to shout but the through the pain from her injured forehead and the confusion the information he gave her made her unable to.
He smirked, "I haven't even gotten to the best part yet."
Raising the hand that wasn't cuffed to the chair she touched her forehead, it stung and felt like it was quiet bad. It stopped actively bleeding but by that point it soaked into her once grey long-sleeved shirt.
Wes probably knew it was JJ's shirt, he apparently knew everything.
"I think you know how seriously my family takes its pride, we cannot be seen as anything other than a strong, united family. I tried to let you into that but you fought me, I tried to help you but you didn't help yourself."
"Wes how is beating me up and throwing me down a stairs case trying to help me?" Otto couldn't believe the insanity she was hearing, every word got worse and worse.
"You resisted, I tried to show you resistance gets you nowhere, that all you had to do is let me take the reigns and you would've have had it the easy way."
"Your little group of friends made a fool of my family and the Cameron's. You tried stripping away our dignity, and that cannot me let slide. We need to make a stand. Eliminate the aggressors."
She gritted her teeth, shutting off any outward emotion. Showing even an ounce of vulnerability would give Wes satisfaction.
"They need to be delt with, and the only way to truly eliminate them is by making them go away permanently. John B, Pope, Kiara and the current father to Freddie, JJ, are going to be here, and they are going to die."
Otto stops breathing, you wouldn't be able to tell from outward appearances but inside was a mess of terror, stress and confusion.
This was so typical for Otto's life, just when things were beginning to get good, everything falling into place the rug was pulled out from underneath her, pulling her right down to where she started.
When she was a child it was when her father relapsed.
And when she was a teenager it was when her first boyfriend cheated on her, her second boyfriend groomed and verbally abused her and when her last boyfriend physically abused her.
But that wasn't the end of it for her, then, at seventeen years old she gets pregnant, and a few months after that her dad dies.
That still isn't the end because her last boyfriend - the one that physically abused her - was holding her hostage because he had a vendetta with the father of her child
Then Wes' father, Horris walked in, all prim and proper. Of course be was behind it, Wes couldn't take a piss without his father's approval.
Otto's emotionless pretended broke for a second when she let a small laugh bubble up.
When Horris saw her he gritted his teeth, "I promise you won't laughing when I drain the life out of the father of your baby."
"What's the end goal, Horris? What happens after you kill them? That's not going to be swept under the rug, especially if you don't plan on doing anything to Sarah and me."
He stared at her life he hadn't thought the plan through entirely, like he was so blinded by rage and hatred that he didn't make a coherent plan.
"All I care is that I've taken what is mine back." He smirked at Otto.
