Owlbiet and I walked for a while. With every step, I felt sluggish and tired beyond belief, like a fat man trying to run at one mile an hour. Something was clearly wrong but what?
"Master, is something the matter?0 you have been quite slow." Owlbiet asked as he turned to me. "Perhaps we should take a brea-"
"No." I replied still barely walking. "I have a deadline to reach..." I leaned on a tree beside me panting.
Owlbiet looked at me, visibly worried "I Understand master but-"
I couldn't hold my irritation any longer. "Just stop!" I yelled.
"Stop?"
"I hate the fact you've been following me, talking none stop with no reason to, without any care in the world!". I screamed at the top of my lungs and I didn't care if anyone was around to hear it. "And now you act like you care about me?"
"But master, I do. I'm your frien-" He didnt get to complete his sentence
My teeth gritted in irritation as I slammed the tree. "Bullshit!" I replied. "You were NEVER my friend and You'll NEVER be my friend..."
"Ma-"
"Get out."
Owlbiet shivered in shock. "What?"
I threw the blade at his direction. "I SAID GET OUT DAMNIT!"
He flapped his wings whilst jumping to the side avoiding it completely. He looked at the blade, then me, his eyes met mine. "Very well." He turned away and flew towards the dark night sky. After a week, I was finally free... alone.
"G-Good rida-nce." I whispered as my legs finally gave in and dropped on the floor, I couldnt walk anymore. "Come on, work damnit." I said under my breath trying to push through for a bit... but i couldn't.

"Dude?" A farmiliar voice from the darkness called to me, Toneless and deep. I turned to face him, and as always, he had that straight expression on his face.
"Bridge?" I asked in disbelief. "What are you-"
"Doing here?" He pulled down his hood as he replied. "I'm on a mission. What are you doing here."
I looked at the blaze blade. "Same." I leaned my back on the tree.
He stared at me knowing fully well what I got myself into. "Ken?"
I turned my head to him. "What's it to you?" I asked while positioning myself to sit on the floor.
"Calm down." He took a sit beside me. "How've you been holding up?"
"What do you think?" I scoffed.
"Dude... I'm just trying to make conversation." Bridge explained as he pulled out some stone bread from a sachel he carried. "Here, I know how you get when you're hungry."
I Hadn't eaten since the cave. On a normal day, a week without food wouldn't be a problem. But there clearly was a problem that I was too stubborn to understand. "Don't want it."
"Bruh..." He replied as he dropped it on my lap. "Eat."
I sighed as I took a bite of the bread. "Too Hard."
He smirked. "... As always."
I turned looking at him. "You're talking about the bread right?"
"Yeah... sure."
I could see he was trying to hide his amusement. I threw a rock at him and he dodged it. "You're laughing at me aren't you?"
"Nah. Just being silly."
"...Why did you give me the bread?"
"Because I thought you might be hungry." He shrugged. "I've been on a mission for three weeks now and I'm starving."

"Three weeks?" I repeated. "And you still look like that?"
He didn't reply. "Why are you here anyway?" I asked again. "HE told you to check up on me?"
"No." He shook his head. "I just felt like seeing you. And... I need to speak with you."
"About?"
"Well... I'm not sure."
"You don't know?" I said as I rested my head against the tree. "That's odd."
Bridge sighed. "I'm just tired, man." He looked at the sky. "It's been a while since we last spoke."
"You knew I had to leave." I replied." Look, I've got to get going. Times almost up."
"Fine, fine." He nodded his head. "We'll talk later then." He stood up and stretched before turning back to me. "Hey, can I give you a hand?" He walked towards the blade on the ground. "This yours?"
I hesitantly responded "Don't touch that".
He jerked his hand back from surprise. "Oh, okay."
"So what's your mission?" He asked. "If you dont mind me asking."
"None of your business." I huffed.
"...Dude...." He replied again with the same monotoned voice, as always.
"Listen, I'm done with your bullshit! I'm going to get my sword so you better stay away from me or I'll stab you where it hurts, alright?!" I shouted at him. He seemed more surprised than angry by that.
"Dude, chill... It's only me." He said with the same monotone voice, as always.
"You can go back to hell." I picked up the blade and turned around to face him. "Or whatever you call that damn place." I said.
Bridge sighed as he put on his hood again. "Look..." He started walking back to the trees. "I'm sorry if you're feeling uncomfortable with me around. I just... wanted to see how you were doing."
"How am I doing?" I repeated as I slowly stood up. "Like this?"
He stopped and turned around. "No, Kai. That's not what I meant."
"Then what do you mean?"
"Nothing really. I just... wanted to make sure you were all right."
"You can't do that! You can't just 'make sure' I'm okay." I yelled at him. "You know full well I'm not! I've been through too much shit and there's nothing you can do about it so leave me alone!"
Bridge stared at me for a moment, then his eyes widened as I fell to my knees, "Kai, are you-"
"I'm fine! Don't patronize me, alright!?" I said while exhailing deeply. "Just leave already".
The wind blew his black hair in his face. I could see he had something else to say but instead, he walked away.

This story has been published, but I'm adding it here for Royal Road readers to enjoy.
