Linkin had driven himself off to school, his bag packed with the lunch Grams had made him. He was stuffing some stuff in his locker.
"Hey Link." Matt said coming up beside him.
"What's up?" He asked not turning around.
"Ah, nothing. I just wanted to check if you where okay."
"I'm fine." Linkin said.
Matt picked up on the undertone in his voice. "Okay." He said confused.
Linkin closed his locker and started walking away.
"Woah, wait up." Matt called after him catching up.
"I don't need you to check up on me. I can take care of myself." Linkin grumbled.
"Hey there phyco." One of the football players said as to Linkin as he walked pass with a posse of jocks.
"Shut up Jake." Matt growled.
The boys immediately shut up as they kept walking.
"Don't lis-" Matt stopped mid sentence as he turned back seeing Link was gone and he just groaned.
...
History class had started and Alaric had gotten onto the topic of the the end of one of the greatest ancient nations. "How did the end of Pompeii come to pass?"
"Pst. Linkin." A voice came from behind him.
He decided to ignore it as he started doodling in his work book around the countless notes he had written down. That was until the back of his chair kept getting kicked.
"What." He growld jolting around quietly.
It was someone he didn't expect. One of Drakes little group. "How are you?" Amon asked.
"Are you seriously asking that question?" Linkin asked with a glair.
Amon genuinely nodded.
"Linkin?" Alaric called.
The teen groaned before turning with a painted smile. "Ah, it was.."
"Is was a pyroclastic density current that flooded the city after the nearby volcano erupted." Amon spoke up.
The whole class looked at him with shock and complete suprise.
"It like a super hot cloud of ash. It like turned all the poeple that where still in the city to like, statues an stuff. I saw it on the old documentary channel." He explained.
"That Mr Kormack. Is correct." Mr Saltzman said.
Many fellow classmates jaws dropped.
Amon just smiled letting out a little laugh.
"Linkin. Stay back after class please."
The teenager sighed at the already on coming headake.
...
"You wanted to see me sir?" Link asked standing infront of Rick's desk as the last student left.
"Are you okay?" Alaric asked him.
"Why dose everyone keep asking me that." Linkin groaned.
"Well you did pummel your brother to the point where it's been almost a week an he isn't in school yet." Alaric said.
"Well that's one way to put it." The teen muttered.
"I just wanted to let you know that if you need someone to talk to. You can come to me."
Linkin looked to his teacher. He couldn't pick up any sign of dishonesty and he wasn't sure if that was a good thing, or a bad. "Thank you for the concern sir. But I can handle it."
"All right then." Rick said wearing a smile. "Best you be off to your next class."
"Yes sir." Link replied heading out.
"An stay out of trouble." He called after the teen.
Linkin scoffed to himself as he walked out hearing him. "Trouble seems to have a way of finding me."
...
"So, I have a date."
Linkin went wide eyed. "What, since when?!" He demanded.
"Since the dance last week." Bonnie said giddily

"Do I know him?" He asked.
"I doubt it." Bonnie said. "He use to go to our school. He was a timber wolf state champ and works at the grill."
"Wait, the new bartender guy?"
"Yep, his names Ben and he's super hot." She said smiling.
"Oh, well ah. That's nice." He said akwardly.
"So what are your plans for tonight?"
"Probably just watch the tv. Nothing fancy."
"Boring." Bonnie said.
"What? What else am I supposed to do?" He said with light laughter.
"You should go out an fins yourself someone. Then we could doubble date." She said before holding a pink top over her chest, seeing how it looks in the mirror.
"Firstly go the dark purple. It'll go with the shoes and jeans."
Bonnie grabbed said shirt and put it over her chest before nodding in agreement. "You're right."
"Secondly, there isn't really anyone I can think of who would go out with me. I've got way to much baggage." He half joked.
Bonnie put down her shirt and turned around with a serious look. "You, Linkin Lockwood are one of the best people I know. Any girl.. or guy." She said rasing her brows playfully making Link scoff. "Would be lucky to have you."
Linkin smiled at that. "Thanks Bonn."
...
On the couch layed a sleeping and snoring teen. The television still playing quietly in the background as the sound of Buffy filled the silence.
Seeing Linkin like that brought a grin to Sheila's face as she quietly snuck out of the living room into the kitchen to make some tea.
As the kettle began to boil on the stove she had a tugging sensation in her chest. She realised that someone was at the house, someone she didn't like.
Damon walked up the stairs of the porch to the Bennett house. He was about to knock when the door opened before he had the chance. He put on a charming smile.
"Hello. I'm looking for Bonnie."
"I suggest you leave." Shiela said with a hard glare.
"Listen lady, yo-"
"You got some nerve knocking on Bennett witches door to come around and ask for favours." She grumbled.
Damon took in a deep breath an keeping his composure. "I'm sorry. I think we got off on the wrong foot. My nam-."
"Yes, I know who you are. Spirits talk Mr Salvatore." She said with her own fake smile.
"Look." Damon said flatly as his smile dropped into a scowl. "I w-."
'I don't care what you want. I am not Bonnie or Linkin. I won't be scaired by you." She threatened.
"Why don't you come out here and say that." Damon snarked with a smirk.
Sheila's intensified her glare as she took a step passed the threshold of her home.
Damon was about to attack when his head suddenly felt like it was behing crushed. Groaning in pain he fell to a knee clutching the sides of his head.
"If I see you near my house or my children, I'll burn the skin off your bones." She threatened before stepping back inside and quickly closing the door behind her. Quietly, she took in a deep breath of relief safe back in her home. Having not used magic in years, she was starting to fell the full toll of magic draining from her body.
The kettle began to whistle as the sound filled the house.
With a sigh Shiela made her way to the kitchen.

"Who was that?" A tiered Linkin asked walking into the kitchen.
"No one you need be concerned about." She told him grabbing another cup from the cabnit an made two cups of tea.
Linkin had propped himself onto a stool at the kitchen island as Shiela passed him a cup. "Thanks Grams." He said. He was about to take a sip but hesitated. "You're not gonna roofie me again are you?"
Sheila laughed. "Would I be drinking out if the brew If I did." She told him as she took a sip from her cup.
"Fair enough." He said befor taking a sip.
"So do you want to talk about it?" Shiela asked suddenly.
"About what?" Linkin said now nervous.
"Don't play coy with me child. You've skipped out on the last two magic sessions with Bonnie an I."
"Oh." He said with relief. "I ah. Well since what happened with Emily, I've... I've been struggling to do any spells let alone ubsorbe magic." Linkin looked to his hands, at the fient remnants of scaring left from the burns. "It's like every time I try I.. I.."
"You what?" Shiela asked.
"It's like there burning all over again." He admitted.
Shiela seemed suprised by that.
"What? Do you know what it is? Is it a spell or something Emily did to try an stop me doing magic?" Linkin blurted out seeing the look on the elder Bennett.
"Oh no sweet child. It's something far simpler." She told him with a soft smile.
"What? What is Grams?" He asked with an almost pleading look in his eyes.
"Well, I think you're scaired." She told him
"Of what?" He asked confused.
"I think you've become afraid to do magic because of how hurt you have gotten. It's made your scaired and so you body won't ubsorb any power because of it."
"But I'm not afraid. I love magic." He told her unbelieving of her words.
"Have you done anything fun with magic?" She asked.
That threw him. "I don't understand question?" He said.
"The only times you've ever done magic was to defend yourself or others correct?" Shiela asked.
Linkin thought about it. He delved through his memories trying to find a moment where he had not been fighting with magic.
Shiela could see she was eight as Linkin couldn't come up with any argument. "An there in lies your problem my child. All you've known of magic is how to protect yourself and others. But when that failed you the night Emily possesed Bonnie it scaired you because you couldn't help. Ontop of that your hands had gotten nearly burnt off for trying to take away Emily's spell."
"So you're saying I'm blocking myself from using magic because I'm subconsciously scaired that I'm going to get hurt again." He slowly realised.
"I want you to try an take some of my magic." She told him.
"What?! Absolutely not." He said immediatly.
"I know you won't hurt me Linkin." She said laying her arm over the island, her palm facing upwards. "You need to get through this block you've put on yourself." Shiela told him.
"Nope, not happening Grams. Last time I took some of your magic you nearly went to hospital." He argued.
"You didn't know what you where doing. But now you have control over your ability. You don't need to be afraid." She said trying to encourage him.
"No Grams, that's not happening." He said getting off his stool and marching out of the room.
"Link where are you going?" She asked moving after him.
"If what you said is true then I'm doing this to myself. If I want to push through this I need to do this with someone who can handle it." He said walking up the stairs and into his room.
"I can handle-"
"I'm sorry but I'm not hurting you again. Besides I have someone else in mind who can help." He said as he grabbed his jacket and spell book from his cupboard. He put his small grimoire in his inner jacket pocket before leaving his room and heading for the door.
"I hope you don't mean those Salvatore brothers." Shiela said with slight resentment.
"Stefan, an yes. He's the good one and he would help if I asked him. Damon would probably just eat me if he knew my magic wasn't working." He said as he opened the front door.
"That's comforting." Shiela remarked dryly.
Linkin took one step outside when red and blue lights filled his vision. His eyes zoned onto the police car as someone got out.
"Sheriff." Shiela said.
"Miss Forbes?"
"Hello." She said with a seemingly forced smile.
"What can we do for you?" Shiela asked.
"Well, I've come to take Linkin to the station." She said.
"What why?"
Shiela immediately stepped infront of Linkin.
"You're father is there and he's worried sick. He said you haven't been home in days."
Shiela scoffed. "That man wouldn't care about an old woman I. The middle of the street let alone his own son. You can tell him that Linkin is in better hands." She said in a bitter tone.
"Unfortunately that's not how this works." Sheriff Liz said.
"He kicked me out." Linkin spoke up.
"Even if that is the case. He's you're legal guardian. My hands are tied here." She said looking to Linkin.
The teen just sighed. "Grams."
Shiela wasn't moving.
"Grams, it's okay." He said stepping around her. "I'll be fine." He told her.
"Come on kid." Liz said leading the way to her car before opening the back door.
Shiela looked away as Linkin followed. She caught the glimps of someone looking up the road but in a blink they where gone.
Liz looked to Shiela wondering if she was doing the right thing. She heard him get in and she closed the door with a sigh before getting into her car. "Look kid. I'm sor-. What the hell?" She said immediatly jumping out of the car.
Shiela wore a smile on her face at the scene.
"What? Where did he go?" Liz asked confused.
"Where did who go?" Shiela said from her porch. Smiling as she walked back into her house.
Sheriff Forbes looked around completely confused and very suspicious. "What the hell just happened?" She asked herself before reaching for her walkie. "All units, I need eyes out for Linkin Lockwood."
After getting yanked out of the Sheriff's car Link felt dizzy at the unbrut stop of motion, he hunched over putting his hands on his knees.
"I think I'm gonna throw up." He said trying not to gag. They where in the empty park that around the corner from Grams that connects to the woods.
"Well don't do it on my shoes." The person said.
Linkin went wide eyed. He didn't recognise the voice. Slowly he stood back up and turned around. "Who are you?" He asked the gurl who wasn't much older than him.
"The names Anna." She said with an overly bright smile.
"Um. How did we get here?" He said acting confused.
"No need to play dumb Linkin. I know you're little witchy secret and no doubt you now know mine." Anna said plainly.
"What do you want with me?" He asked her slightly taking a step back under the covers of a tall tree.
"You're my plan b incase something goes wrong for my plans." She said.
"And what's you're plan?" He asked her taking another step towards some fallen branches.
Anna huffed. "The same as that anoying Salvatore brother."
"You want to get into the tomb?" Linkin asked suprised. "Why would you want to do.." He remebered Emily's words from the night she had destroyed the pendent. How in order to save Katherine she had to save everyone else. "You have someone in there don't you? Someone who was in the church with Katherine." He realised.
Anna quirked her brow suprised. "Well I guess Bonnie was right, you really are smart."
That made Linkin stop moving. "What do you mean?" He asked starting to worry. "Where's Bonnie? What have you done to her?"
"She's my plan A." Anna told him with a cunning smile. "Your my plan B."
He went to run but Anna zoomed infront of him and he saw a fist before everything went black.
...
Groaning Linkin had opened his eyes. His surroundings were different to before. What happened before he wondered.
His eyes shot up at the sound of a door opening. He went to move but found his hands were bound to the bottom of the bed frame.
"This is him?" A boy said unimpressed zooming in from out side, kneeling infront of his face.
"Looks can be deciving." Anna said walking in behind him.
That's when he remebered he was kidnapped.
"Let me go." Linkin growled jerking forward to the guy.
"Woah there tiger." The boy said leaning back with a smirk.
"Stop taunting him Ben." Anna sighed.
He looked at the boy, wondering where he knew that name from. Then he remebered his conversation with Bonnie the previous day. "Where's Bonnie?" He realised.
"She had an unfortunate escape." Anna hissed glaring at Ben.
"I told you, that Salvatore guy found us mid day. The sun was up, what was I supposed to do?" Ben grumbled.
Linkin noticed the way Ben was looking at her. Like he liked her. But he could see that Anna was just using him. He recognised the looks she was giving him, the same look Carol gave him whenever they wanted something and fained kindness until they got it. Linkin could use that.
"We'll leave soon. No doubt Damon's found a way to open the tomb." Anna said.
"Why wait. It's all ready dark out." Ben winned.
Ben looked skittish. His hands were twitching and he wouldn't stop walking back and forwards. Anna had a look on her face. "When was the last time you ate?" She asked him.
"Like yesterday." Ben said dismissively.
"We have blood in the fridge, why didn't you drink that?" Anna growled.
"That stuff is clod an nast. I can't swallow the stuff. I'm over it." He huffed.
Anna gave him a glare. "Go out an eat something then. The last thing I need you to do is eat him or screw up because your hungry." She demanded.
Ben licked his lips. "Finally." He said I delight, leaving to find his victim.
"I'm so over him, this town. I can't wait to get out of here." Anna said under her breath.
"Why keep him around if you don't want him?" Linkin asked.
Anna looked at him as if she had forgotten he was there. "Hmm?" She asked.
"You don't like him. So why do you keep him around like a puppy. It's kind of sad really." Link told her.
Anna arched a brow. Then she smiled. "You know." She began. "Jeremy talks about you alot.
At the mention of Jeremy his eyes widened. "Stay away from." Linkin hissed.
Anna's smile grew bigger. "Oh, I've already been closer than you think."
Linkins stomake dropped.
"Don't worry, I havn't killed him. Yet." She teased.
"I you hurt him-"
"Save your breath siphoner." She interrupted. "He's going to serve a purpose just like you."
Linkin was mad. He was getting angrier the more she talked.
"I needed the Bennett witch because of her blood connection to the magic on the tomb. Unfortunately we lost Bonnie and that Katherine doppelganger and Damon has Emily's spell book. But with you I can by-pass all of that." Anna said with something in her eye, like a twinkle of hope.
Linkin had taken in her words. Her whole plan relied on him and his unique ability. He started to giggle, then he just laughed.
"What's so funny." Anna hissed, her smile fading.
"It's just, your whole plan B. It relies on me sucking out thw magic of a almost centrys old spell." He sighed taking in breath.
"Yeah." She said as if he was dumb.
"Well your plan B is a fail." He told her.
"And why is that." She asked with a vindictive grin.
"Because my power dosn't work any more." He admitted. "It broke after I tried fighting the witch who spelled the tomb in the first place."
Anna's smile dropped.
"You're not getting into the tomb." He said now wearing the smile.
The girls viens under her eyes budge as sped down infront of his face, clasping her hand around his throat. "Then what use are you to me hm." She said.
"None." He said. "So kill me if you want. I can't help you either way."
Anna's eyes returned to normal as she stood up and began laughing. "Oh, poor Linkin. Wow you must really hate yourself if your ready to just die like that. But givin how you've grown up I'm not suprised."
Linkins looked at her as his smile fell.
"No doubt your just blocked from loosing. But even if you won't let yourself use magic your still a pen I can use to get the Bennett witches to do what I want."
"You really think they'll help you." Linkin said. "They both hate vampires and wouldn't risk the whole town just to open the tomb letting God knows how many vampires out." He argued.
Anna simply crossed her arms and smirked at him. "I think you severely under estimate how important you are to them." She told him.
"An what gives you the idea I would just come willingly." He argued.
"Who said anything about you coming willingly." She rebutted.
"Go ahead. I've been beaten all my life. I can take the hit." He snarled.
