Katsuki looked up from the tree where his squad was looming over him. Their bodies covered the sunlight that made Katsuki feel warm inside yet it didn't matter their presence was enough to keep him warm through any winter.
Katsuki sat up from laying down, "Doesn't matter if it's been five minutes, you left without me! Didn't tell me anything!"
"You feel asleep! We didn't want to wake you!" Kirishima defended the squad.
"I would rather be awoken next to you idiots than without..." Katsuki mumbled, face burning with embarrassment.
"Aww look at the tip of his ears! They're pink!" Mina gasped as she pulled his face close.
"Don't sweat it bro, it's okay to be scared without us!" Kirishima said with his toothy smile.
Mina nodded excitedly, "Don't worry Bakubabe! We'll never leave your side!"
"Fuck you, and you, and you and you good since you brought me an ice cream." Katsuki snapped as he glared at his friends, gator softening when he noticed Sero handing him his favorite ice cream.
"I paid for it!" Kaminari complained as he pouted.
The squad bursted out laughing, Katsuki just simply shrugged as ate his ice cream peacefully, happy to have his friends back next to him.

It's been a few months and his squad kept to their promise, they didn't leave without telling him, no matter the circumstances.
He wasn't trying to restrict their movements but as Kirishima said much to Katsuki's dismay; Katsuki really was just scared. He was scared that one day his squad would leave and never return, whether it was on their own terms or not it terrified him. He loved his squad more than anything.
Katsuki was just happy they understood, even if it did embarrass him. Though he was okay with his squad seeing him get embarrassed, they were his family and family means everything to him.

Katsuki awoke reluctantly, his room was cold, he was tired and he really didn't want to get out of bed. But he needed to. So with a sigh he jumped out of bed and got ready for the day.
The morning already felt off, usually after he awoke he had at least one member already at his side begging for breakfast but that didn't happen. No, he didn't even have any one of his squad members pestering him as he cooked. It was off, and Katsuki didn't like change.
When Katsuki finished breakfast he went ahead and looked for his squad. They weren't in the dorms or common area nor outside.
They did say earlier in the week they wanted to go to an escape room, they asked Katsuki if he wanted to join but he declined. They scared him, he didn't like feeling trapped and his squad understood that, but why wouldn't they have told him before they left?
They promised! How could they break their promise?
Katsuki paced around the kitchen for a bit then stormed off the common room.
"Oi! Shit nerd!" Katsuki yelled at the green haired boy.
Izuku looked up from the couch with a nervous smile, "Kachaan?"
Katsuki rolled his eyes, "Don't smile at me. Have you seen the idiots anywhere?"
"They left earlier this morning. They told me not to tell you.. but they made it seem like they would be back before you awoke and I really don't really wanna lie to you..." Izuku explained with a nervous sigh a reluctant glacé at the floor.
"Fuckin' hell. Whatever, breakfast is ready, tell the other assholes to come down and eat." Katsuki huffed before stomping off to his dorm.
Those bitches. Those sons of bitches.
How dare they?! How dare they break their promise?! He thought they understood, he thought they were aware of his fear, his downfalls.
Katsuki threw open his door angrily and stormed inside, slamming it shut even quicker than he opened it.

Katsuki knew he shouldn't get so angry, and he really wasn't all that angry. Just upset. But no matter how much he tried to calm himself down he couldn't help but let frustrated tears fall down his face.
It was a shame; it was a shame because Katsuki didn't have the right to know, they didn't have to tell him anything and even if Katsuki tried not to seem possessive, he knew it always came off that way.
Were they going to leave him?
Were they finally over his bullshit?
Katsuki huffed and threw himself onto his bed.
Where were they?
.
.
.
After the first day he realized they weren't back he went to the teachers, they were aware of the problem he was told.
What problem?
The fact they didn't come back to the dorms?
Or maybe they couldn't have come back to the dorms?
.
.
.
Over the next course of days Katsuki grew more worried, more anxious and more pissed.
When he tried to ask the teachers questions he was always blown off, and his classmates began to act funny as well. They wouldn't make eye contact with him and they didn't speak to him unless necessary.
Did they blame Katsuki for his squad's disappearance? Was it actually his fault they are gone?
Katsuki was a mess and nothing was helping calm him down.
Katsuki was sick and tired of everyone avoiding him. He needs answers, any of them! So he decided enough was enough and he was going to figure out what the hell was going on. He stormed into the common room, a place he's been avoiding since the day his squad left.
The moment he walked in he noticed a few try to leave, some successful.
"If one more person leaves I'm breaking each and everyone of your legs. Understand?" Katsuki spoke softly, a glare directed at the green haired boy who tried to sneak off.
"I-I was just about to go do.. something Kachaan." Izuku mumbled nervously.
"Sit the fuck down." Izuku nodded reluctantly as walked back over to the sofa and sat.
"Tell me what the fuck is going on."
"I-I don't know anything! I swear!"
Katsuki sat there, he was looking down at the ground, he could hardly see his face.
"Midoriya," Katsuki said softly, causing Izuku's eyes to widen. "I can't sleep, eat or function. I love them more than anything and I swear to all things in this world, if you don't tell me what the hell you know... it isn't going to be pretty for the both of us."
Izuku sighed, "That's.. that's what we are trying to avoid..."
Katsuki looked up, his crimson eyes staring deep into Izuku's emerald.
"When they left... there was a surprise villain attack, they didn't even have time to react."
Katsuki continued to stare him down, his face blank.
"Why did they leave... why? Why didn't I go with them?! Why?! Why?! Why?! Why!" Katsuki cried as he fell to his knees.
Izuku ran over, trying to calm the crying ash blonde mess, "It's not your fault, Kachaan!"
"I-if-!" Katsuki tried to protest through tears.
"They wanted to surprise you with a gift, you would have had no idea they left no matter how much you think so." Izuku continued with his failing attempt to calm the blonde.
Katsuki sobbed even louder, his other classmates didn't really know what to do besides feeling pity and sadness for the recent events.
Katsuki needed them, he wanted them. And it was all taken away from him.
.
.
.
Every now and then Katsuki will sit under the tree he and his squad made that promise under.
The warmth of the sun wasn't as warm as it used to be, and the tree no longer was comforting.
But it was home.
His squad was home.
And his happiest memories will be his squad sitting under that tree.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

The Monster Inside: The First Vampire
Despite appearances, there was once a time where monsters did not exist. Where peace and prosperity reigned over all life. But those sinful and demonic forces that had hidden themselves in the shadows just couldn't help themselves could they? They wanted a piece of that prosperity too. They wanted to taint it, corrupt it, revel in its dark side. This is the story of a boy who was tainted. Of a boy who unintentionally bore a seed of sin and who in his naivety let it out. This is the story of how that boy was shamed and disgraced. Of how he was outcast for simply being. This is the story of how that boy learned to embrace the darkness that made him different. A darkness that would later make him known as the Lord of Night. Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.

Infested
One billion people from one hundred thousand universes have been dropped onto a singular planet five times larger than Earth. In the corner of their eye were three numbers: 1,000,000,000. 15. 10. Nobody could figure out what it meant until fifteen years after the initial transportation, as out of the blue, a message repeated itself in their minds for twenty-four hours. “Only ten can return. The rest will die. There is no time limit,” Following the global message, genocides ran rampant, with established friendships broken, families ripped apart, blood alliances betrayed, and leaders felled in seconds. How? [The Evgnomon] The Beholden; hidden throughout the realm were artefacts: weapons, information, tools from beings and societies of a higher plane. It was up to the humans to scour the land and take them by hook or by crook if they ever wished to go back. Whisked into this world as a mere babe, I suppose it was lucky I didn’t die in the chaos. But as I stare into the rotten, tattered pages of the accursed book laid upon the pedestal in front of me; and the unnerving gaze of our professor trained onto the back of my head silently pressuring me to become the avatar of grotesques unspeakable and undecipherable to the human mind. O, how I wish I did...
