《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 666 Building a Boat Part 4

Luckily, the movie showed a lot of information about megs and I remember most of it. One thing I do change is the meg's weak eyesight, I won't be able to use the meg's other senses as well as it does. So, to make up for that I improve the eyesight as much as I can, basing it off of a drake's eyes.
Shifter Shape added: Evolved Megalodon
As soon as I change form into the meg, I panic a little because I can't breathe. Then I remember that the gills only work while in motion so I start swimming. As soon as I am moving I can breathe again, but it is weird since I am not controlling it.
The gills work automatically as long as I am moving, but moving this body is weird. It feels nothing like any other form I have tried and it takes a lot of getting used to. Even after a couple of hours I still can't move around very well, but at the same time it is amazing.
Thanks to the enhanced eyes I can see absolutely everything, even the ocean floor. There is no darkness to my eyes and it is an amazingly beautiful world down here. For the next couple of hours I simply practice moving around as I explore.
Experiencing it for myself like this makes all those underwater documentaries look like crap. There is a ton of life down here and I constantly have to fight the meg's instincts to hunt. That isn't to say that I don't eat anything, this body needs constant supplies of energy.
I just try to keep it to normal fishes, a lot of the things down here look weird. I make sure to avoid the colorful things the most, they are the most likely to be poisonous. That is, until I remember that I am now immune to poison, then I eat whatever comes near me.

This form doesn't have taste buds, which is a good thing considering how weird some of these things look. I even end up eating one of the giant crabs, but strangely I don't get any exp for it. Then again, when I think about it, I don't remember ever getting exp when shapeshifted.
Maybe that is the penalty of using shapeshift, it is something to keep in mind in the future. For now I spend the rest of the day swimming around and exploring. During this time I don't see anything big enough to threaten me, let alone the legendary beast.
After swimming around for the entire day I return to the beach and shift back to the eagle to return to the village. When I return, some of the elves I saved come over and beg me to feed them. It would seem that they have gotten addicted to the food from my pouch.
Since I totally can't blame them I don't argue and just start taking out dishes of food. Other elves notice and come to join, until in the end I basically start another feast. I don't really mind since the pouch can produce food without a problem.
After eating and feeding the majority of the elves I return to my hut for some rest. Again I use my hammock, but before I sleep I go into a soulscape long enough to update Myria. I figure as long as I keep everyone updated on what's going on they won't worry as much.
Myria is the one I normally contact, because she gets mad if I tell someone else. After I end the soulscape I go to sleep for a few hours and when I wake up I meditate for a while. I mainly just need to recover the sacred power I used when shapeshifting.
To avoid a repeat of last night, I eat my breakfast in my hut, then I head over to the tree. The tree is now around twelve feet tall, it looks like it continued growing after I left. It probably used its stored up mana to continue to grow, which makes sense.

The tree is currently absorbing mana from its surroundings, it is even trying to absorb mine again. This time I resist and take my time to thoroughly examine the tree. Its growth is fast, but I need to make sure it is developing evenly so it doesn't grow too fast.
So I check all the leaves and the new branches, then I check the trunk's bark. Everything looks good, the tree seems to be using mana to improve everything evenly. Since that puts my worries to rest I take out a chunk of the gate and start feeding the mana to the tree.
*DING*
Congratulations! Skill Channeling has progressed to level 6!
Channeling
Level 6
Int +6 Mana +60
You are very experienced at channeling mana.
'Wait! Did that just increase my mana pool? Mana!'
MP: 456/456
'It did!! I found another way to increase my mana pool!'
This discovery makes me excited and so I quickly go through my entire skill list. Unfortunately, I find that Channeling is the only skill I have that adds to my mana pool. This immediately kills my excitement and leaves me a little depressed.
One skill isn't going to make much difference for my mana pool, especially at ten per level. Even if I somehow get the skill up to level ten that is only forty more mana. While every little bit helps, the amount of effort needed wouldn't be worth it.
Pushing aside my disappointment I grab the second chunk of gate and start feeding it to the tree. As the tree is absorbing the mana I can see its leaves growing larger and lusher. I can also feel movement in the ground below me, the tree's roots are also growing.
When I finish the second gate stone I take out a third, but then stop and have second thoughts. I still don't want to push the tree too far, but I also don't want to waste more time. So instead of channeling the mana from it I simply place the third stone down on the ground next to the tree.
This way the tree can slowly absorb the mana from the stone as it needs it. I am hoping that this will allow the tree to continue growing until I come back tomorrow. Slow constant growth shouldn't cause any problems, at least that is what I am hoping.
As much as I don't want to waste time, the tree isn't going to grow to the size I need anytime soon. For what I am planning it needs to be several hundred feet tall and maybe a hundred feet around. In my mind I am picturing it as the size of a redwood or maybe even bigger.
To be honest, I have no idea if this tree can even grow to that size, but I don't really have any other options. All I can do is feed the gate stones to the tree and see how things turn out. If it gets close enough I might be able to make up the difference when it comes to shaping the ship.
The next problem that comes to mind is the nutrients necessary for the tree to grow. As the tree grows it is going to suck up every nutrient in the soil around it. The problem is the current level of nutrients probably isn't enough to support that much growth.
