Sweat poured off Jet as he ducked, weaved, and parried Kayley. She was very tenacious with her sword skills. However, Jet almost had her style down. The one thing Rick taught Jet was never to have a style. So now Jet put in his plan to knock her off balance.

Kayley let out a cry as she fell to the ground. "Ouch, what the hell are you?"

"Wow, I only got one good hit in the last hour." Jet reached out to help her up.

"I haven't even landed a hit, and you've already figured out my fighting style." Kayley took his hand.

"I was taught not to have any style. If you have one, the other can learn it and turn it against you." Jet picked back up the wooden sword and got ready.

"Let me catch my breath first." Kayley huffed out. "I got to ask, why are you carrying your sword on your back? I've noticed you don't ever take it off."

Jet stabbed the wooden sword into the ground. Then reached up for World Breaker. His eyes went dead and cold as he gripped the sword. "I will never be foolish enough to be weaponless again."

Kayley took several steps back. Jet's body had started to glow with his magic. Almost as if it had a mind of its own, the magic seemed to bend and twist around him. "Sorry for asking."

Jet calmed down, pushing the memories of his mistakes away. "Sorry, I've made a lot of mistakes this last year. Leaving my weapon behind had gotten me into bad situations. So I carry it with me at all times. Even knowing I can summon World Breaker, I feel more comfortable with it on my back."

"You need some inter-spacial items. Then you can carry stuff with you at all times." Kayley tried to shake off what she had seen. It wasn't working.

"I'm working on something right now. What do you say we get back to practice?" Jet reached for the wooden sword. Then took a stance that screamed wide open.

Kayley gave up on her style and went right to him. Which completely failed. Of course, she landed face-first in the grass. "You move too fast." She complained.

Jet laughed. "I'm not even using my magic."

"Wait, your not using your body enhancement magic?" Kayley asked.

"Of course not. How am I supposed to get better? If I rely on my magic, my body won't improve." Jet helped her back up.

Kayley was even more scared of Jet now. She had been using some of her magic to move faster. Her shadows could be used on her body as armor or to help her move faster. "Not even a little magic?"

"Nope, oh hey, the sun is coming up. We can work more tomorrow. I have to start some breakfast." Jet waved as he walked over to the house.

"I'm going to be a picky eater today. You've criticized Hogan meals all week, so I expect good food." Kayley said.

"That's fine. Give me ten, and I'll be done." Jet went in and straight to the kitchen. He had gone out and collected eggs before Kayley had gotten up. The deer he had gotten also was now cut up. So they were going to have steak and eggs. The steaks were put in the oven earlier that morning to slow cook. Now he fried them in a pan to finish.

It did not take long for everyone to wake up to the smell of cooking. Jeff was the first to dip the food. He had no problem believing in Jet's cooking. The others were a bit more skeptical. The food smelled funny to them. "Jet, you're still a great cook." Jeff scarfed down the food.

"I got nothing on my parents." Jet said as he ate. The food tasted alright.

"Wow, this is so good." Tulle said.

"No kidding, I take it all back Jetsford is the cook from now on." Kayley also enjoyed the food.

Hogan was completely silent while he ate the food. Once he finished, he talked. "Ok, I can face that you are a better cook."

"Why don't I show you a few things. It's all about the preparation." Jet got up. "Alright, Jeff, it's time to burn that meal off. Let's go."

After only a few minutes, Jeff knew something was wrong. Jet seemed to be almost able to keep up with him now. Even the others had stopped to watch their match. However, Jeff finally got the upper hand and slammed Jet into the ground. He had not meant to hit Jet so hard. "You alright?"

Jet got to his feet laughing. "That was awesome. I finally got you to be serious."

"Wait, what?" Jeff looked at him with skepticism. "This is our second sparring match."

"Jetsford is a monster. The pace he learns is ridiculous." Kayley shook her head.

"We haven't even started the real fun. The last two days, we will start using magic in sparring." Jet had a grin on his face.

"Why don't we start now? Wouldn't it be better to get more time using magic?" Jeff asked.

"No, you need more practice first. Kayley could start, but I'm waiting for you to get used to your new magic." Jet cocked his head in thought. "You know what, both of you come at me with everything you got. I'll show you why I don't use my magic."

"Did you want me to use my magic as well?" Jeff pointed at himself.

"Yes, I did say everything you both got. I'll probably lose two on one. But you'll get what I'm trying to say." Jet raised his hand and waved them to come at him.

Kayley was the first to leap toward Jet. She had even gotten a wooden sword out. Jet had enhanced his body for the fight, along with going into overdrive when Kayley jumped at him. With minimal movement, he easily dodged her first strike. At the same time, he was landing a punch to her gut. Jeff had gotten close to Jet while he had been distracted with Kayley. Jeff had even come at Jet from his weak spot. Jet stepped forward, keeping up his momentum, ducking under Jeff's fist, which had been a bluff. But with time moving so slowly, Jet saw the kick coming at him. He dove forward over the leg, then twisted, landing a kick on Jeff's side. Jet lets the world speed up to real-time.

"What just happened?" Tulle looked at them.

Jeff held his side. "We just got our asses handed to us."

"Of course, neither of you even tried to use magic on me. I told you to come at me with everything you got." Jet lifted the wooden sword from the ground and took a casual stance.

"Kayley, I need my metals," Jeff said, and she complied by bringing them out of her inter-spacial earrings. He wrapped the aluminum around separate parts of his body. As for the other metals, he would not use them on Jet. But he wanted to try something with the iron, and copper wasn't needed.

Kayley had prepared as well. The shadows around her seemed to be bending and twisting. At this point, Hogan had grabbed Tulle and backed way up.

This time Jeff had started the fight. Jet went into overdrive and was surprised at the speed Jeff was coming at him. He was moving much faster this time. Jet ducked under his first punch wondering why Jeff had coated his hands in the iron. But he wanted to finish Jeff off quickly, so he twisted to hit him in the side again. But with no luck, a shadow appeared and blocked his wooden sword. Jet leaped back as he saw several more shadows heading his way. Before he even landed, Jeff and Kayley were almost on him. Once one of his toes touched the ground, he created a small earthquake to knock them off balance. Now he could have made the earthquake while in the air, but he didn't want to waste magic.

While Kayley was trying to regain her balance, she noticed Jet headed right at her, sword already in mid-swing. Just before she was about to get hot, Jeff grabbed the wooden sword. The iron gauntlet he had on vibrated the sword. Jet had to let go quickly. The vibrations made his hand hurt, and he noticed Jeff's other hand reaching for him. With the momentum he had built up, he couldn't move his body any other way to dodge until he remembered that he could teleport. Jet hadn't tried while moving before, but this would be a good time to learn what happened. He didn't have to teleport far, so he went just behind Kayley. Unfortunately, now he would have to turn around, and he was still running forward.

Jet turned around quickly to see the surprise on their faces. Well, at least Kayley had a surprised look. However, Jeff was leaping right over her, not taking his eyes off Jet. The teleport didn't even seem to slow him down. Jet wouldn't give up that easily and leaped into the air after Jeff. That had surprised Jeff a little, but he had an advantage in the air. So he took advantage and flew towards Jet's weak side. Jet created a Soul Plate and pushed off it to punch Jeff. It would have been nice if it had worked. But Kayley's shadows wrapped around his leg and sent him flying toward the ground. Once on the ground, she wrapped him in shadows.

"Ha, we win," Kayley said.

Jet had planned to move the ground around him to escape. But he was starting to get a headache from overuse of overdrive. "Yeah, you guy's got me."

Jeff frowned at the statement. "Can't you move the dirt to get loose? I've seen you move concrete around."

"Yes, I can." Jet shattered the ground around him, breaking loose from the shadows. "Kayley could have also chopped me into pieces easily there." He saw the grim look on Kayley's face and reworded what he said. "I mean, she could have knocked me out."

"Ok, I'll let it slide this time." Jeff shook his head, still not convinced. "What about your teleport?"

"I can almost do that again. Another reason is I couldn't stay in overdrive much longer." Jet explained.

"What's this Overdrive?" Kayley asked. To which Jet explained. "So you are looking at the world in slow motion?"

"It's the only way I can keep up with both of you. The biggest problem using Overdrive is the headache." Also, the fact overuse made his eyes and ears bleed. He didn't feel like they needed to know that, however.

"If you went all out on us, would we win?" Jeff asked.

"No, neither of you seems to be willing to kill. So I can easily say I would win both of you. To be able to win, you both would have to be as strong or even stronger than your opponent. With magic in play, most fights would be to the death." Rick had driven that into Jet's brain early on.

"So there is no other way?" Jeff had a sad look in his eyes.

"Depends on what you can do. Kayley's magic practically screams I'm going to kill you. Yet I can see how she could use it to restrain people and knock them out. Jeff, I don't know how your magic even works. Who knows what you're capable of doing. That being said, we should get back to training." Jet got into a pose to fight.

"Hold on. When are you going to test Fate?" Jeff looked at the gun strapped to Jet's hip.

"Right, keep forgetting to do that." Jet pulled Fate out and pointed at a tree. Then remembered what the paper had said and pointed at a much further tree out. When he pulled the trigger, there was no pushback at all. But the tree that he had shot at blew apart. Sending splinters all over the place. Some of them had even reached them, and they stood about a hundred yards away. The tree fell slowly until it hit the ground. It was not a small tree. It was around forty inches wide. "Glad I aimed for a further out tree." Everyone nodded in agreement.
