《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 73-2: Zalka Vs Helios

Kai danced around the barrage of elemental magic slashes and batted away a large bolder with her dawnite hand fan. She landed back on the ground before sprinting for Helios, who had a few drops of sweat running down his face.
"Yeah she's definitely not a normal kid but a kid is still a kid so I can't just go all out," Helios thought as an ice magic circle appeared by one of his axes and a wind one by his other axe. Helios raised his axe with the ice magic circle when Kai was close to him. Kai came to a halt before leaping backwards into the air as Helios slammed his axe into the ground. The Ice magic circle bursted before a wave of spikey ice exploded and covered the arena ground.
Helios pulled his other axe behind him before activating the wind magic circle and creating a mini green tornado around the axe blades. Helios hurled and aimed his wind-covered axe at Kai before unleashing a massive wind drill at her. Kai hid behind her fan and used it to shield herself from the wind drill.
Kai slapped the wind drill away with her fan before her eyes widened as a barrage of large ice bolts darted for her. Kai narrowed her eyes as multiple small flames formed around and morphed into humanoid genie-like flame golems. Kai pointed at the ascending ice bolts and the genie fire golems nodded their heads before rocketing for the ice bolts.
The genie fire golems dive-bombed into the ice bolts and started to shine bright red as they melted the ice bolts before they exploded into a cloud of steam. Kai dropped from the cloud of steam and landed on the ground before continuing to run at Helios. Helios encased his axes in lightning before bracing himself for Kai to attack him.

Kai readied her dawnite hand fan and manifested two small fire mana knives. The two combatants hurled a flurry of attacks at each other and the intensity of their blades colliding and the mixing of fire and lightning mana caused mini explosions to form between their blades. Helios tossed both of his axes at Kai, who blocked the axes with her fan before being pushed back.
The axes push Kai to the middle of the arena before the axes clanged off the fan and boomeranged back to Helios. Helios grabbed his axe and clanged them together as a massive collection of lightning mana gathered around them. Lightning began to shoot out from the axes as Helios continued to channel lightning mana through them.
"Alright, I might unintentionally hurt her if this fight goes on any longer, so I'll have to use this," Helios commented as he funnelled the lightning mana into a sphere above his axes.
"Paralysis Field!" Helios shouted as the ball rapidly expanded and completely eclipsed the arena ground and destroying the surrounding ice. The crowd went silent as the entire arena was obscured by the Paralysis Field. Kiki and the other kids peered over the edge of the announcer booth as they tried to see anything inside the Paralysis Field.
"What's happening? I can't see anything," Kiki asked as she looked over at Kikou. Kikou nodded his head and mentioned if that attack hit Kai then the match will definitely come to a close soon, right as a large orange static mana blade pierced through the Paralysis Field and popped it.
Helios heavily exhaled and got into a defensive stance as the static mana blade faded away. Kai slowly opened her eyes and stared down Helios with a death glare which sent a chill down Helios' spine.

"What the?! What was that?" Mei-La asked before Zalina, in her fox cub form, landed on Mei-La's shoulder.
"It's her Azure Abilities: Disruptive Pulse, which basically allows her to disrupt connections between anything the mana with the static effect touches," Zalina explained.
"Does that also work for concepts?" Zuno asked. Zalina turned her head and gave a shrug.
"I dunno; and how would you even touch a concept anyway?" Zalina remarked with Vivo and the Hikas raising their heads.
"So if she somehow got into someone's Azurescape and used her ability on their memory would they forget it that memory?" the Hikas asked in unison while looking at Vivo and Zallino, who the Hikas perceived as the most knowledgeable members of Zalroth's group. The two birds glanced at each other.
"Note to self, do not let Zalka into the master's azurescape until memory wiping proposition has been vindicated or disproven," Zallino mentioned as the Hikas' asked Zuno if they should chronologue Kai's azure ability's description; Zuno mentioned they should ask for Kai's permission before they do that.
Kai surrounded herself with a Disruptive Pulse aura before sprinting so fast she appeared as a blur. In a split second, Kai ran across half of the arena before lunging at Helios and throwing a swift jab. Helios narrowly dodged Kai's jab and he jumped away from Kai when she turned her head and glared at him.
Helios fired a barrage of lightning spheres that Kai swiftly batted away as she darted for Helios. Helios tried to blast Kai but she manoeuvred out of his aim before running circles around him. Helios heavily panted as Kai continued to run circles around him while repeatedly punching and kicking him.
Helios eventually collapsed to his knees as Kai darted to Helios' side before pulling back her fist while her Disruptive Pulse aura faded away. Kai threw a punch and Helios braced himself for the impact; however, after feeling a light puff of wind hit his face, Helios confusedly opened his eye and glanced at over at Kai.
Kai continued to stare daggers at Helios before her expression swapped to a confused one. Kai slowly looked around before abruptly bowing and apologising when she registered what she had just done moments prior.
"And the winner by timed knockdown is Zalka!" Kiki shouted over the speakers before the crowd roared with applause.
"I'm so sorry sir I didn't mean to win unfairly by using my Azure Ability without warning," Kai said as she repeatedly bowed her head. Helios dumbfoundedly stared at Kai before bursting out into laughter, which startled Kai. Helios slowly rose to his feet as a few of his bones clicked and made cracking sounds.
"Nah, there's no need to apologise; it's my fault for underestimating you...," Helios remarked as he limply walked off the arena while Kai offered to carry his axes.
Meanwhile in the waiting room, Ruby, Sophia, Trikore and the other tournament participants stared up at the monitor as the winner of the match was announced.
"Well... I'm kinda glad Zalroth decided to not participate in the tournament now... heh-heh...," Ruby remarked while she nervously chuckled. Sophia nodded her head in agreement as the next pair of cars rose and presented the next two fighters, which were Trikore and an adult male fire elf mage.
"Looks like it's my turn," Trikore remarked as he turned around and walked out of the room.
