《(Discontinued) Outer Banks | JJ x reader》Part 25

Everything went quite. None of us were breathing I don't think. JJ's strong grip on my hand loosened.
"Your honor he's 17!" J suddenly yelled, cutting the silence as he stood up. "Are you kidding? 17!" He yelled as Pope tried to stop him.
They were already taking him away. "John B!" I was yelling, moving towards him. It's a funny feeling when you're overwhelmed with emotions, not knowing what you're doing but aware you're doing them.
"John B!" I yelled again, getting closer to him. So close. So close I could hug him. Then all of the police officers stood right in front of me, pushing me back with an unnecessary force.
"Stop! Don't touch them!" Kie yelled at the officer as she pulled me back, her arms around me. "Lets go. Lets get out of here." Kie told me, pulling me away. She was right, we needed to leave.
John B gave me one last look. Of remorse maybe. Or love or longing. He was going to be gone. Gone. Maybe death gone. And for real this time.
Everything was blurry. People around me were even saying things like "justice was served; he had it coming". I wasn't sure if I wanted to break down and sob or scream like a psychopath.
Falling. I was falling.
JJ grabbed me. He had me. Like always.
We made our way outside somehow. "Is this a joke? Are we in like hell or?" Kie was talking but I wasn't fully there. JJ had let go of me because I was walking now, my legs somehow working. "I should've never come home." Sarah muttered.
"They're gonna kill him, guys." I whispered. No one said anything after that one. Oh yeah, I'm quite the silencer.
I heard someone talking close to us, breaking the silence: "I'm so sorry for what your family has suffered." We all turned. It was someone talking to Ward as they were walking out. Are you shitting me?!

"Thank god the system works." Another man added.
"Can you please shut the fuck up?" I asked them, suddenly my blood boiling. "Of course you think the system worked because it was made to protect you and people like you." I said in almost a rageful cry if that's a thing.
I did in fact take my meds today because Pope advised it but that didn't stop me from yelling.
"He'll have his day in court. A jury will decide." The man standing beside Ward, Rose, and sadly Rafe, told me. "He shouldn't even be in court!" I shouted back.
"You should," I pointed at Ward and Rafe, "You're the murderers." Taking one from Kie I guess. I didn't stop for some reason even though I heard Shoupe yell. "You have a lot of nerve showing up to court." I said, emphasizing court.
"I know you're upset. I understand you're upset, okay?" Ward said as if it was calming. Holy shit. That's it. That's my limit.
"Upset?!" I questioned, my voice raising. "I know he's got you fooled." Ward continued, referring to JB. "No, I'm not just upset!" I cut Ward off, lunging at him.
Arms were all over me. Shoupe, the rest of the police officers, Pope and JJ. All pulling me away from Ward.
If I got my hands on him I'd rip him fucking apart.
"Show some respect!" Ward yelled. Everyone was yelling but I was only focused on him. I wanted to beat the living shit out of him.
"Muzzle your goddamn dog!" Kie yelled at Shoupe, pointing to Ward. "Get off them!" JJ told a police officer, slapping his hand off of me. I was already standing back with the Pogues again.
"Why don't you take the damn kooks down for a change?" I asked Shoupe. I couldn't close my mouth.

"Do you want to get arrested? Cause you are a thin fucking line away." Shoupe told me, getting in my face slightly. "Get out. You need to go." He told me, stern now.
"This is bullshit." I said quietly. "Come on," Sarah pulled me back, holding my hand. "They're not worth it." She added as we all started to turn around.
A police officer literally apologized to the Cameron's. What the hell. "It's not a coincidence your daughters sitting with us!" Kie yelled at Ward.
Ward turned around for a second but we had already decided to leave.
No one said anything in the car ride. Completely silent. I think we were all trying to just figure out what to do next.
When we got to the Chât, we all went inside and sat around the couch and table.
It started raining which was pretty perfect for the mood.
Sarah spoke first. "I'm gonna testify under oath. I was there. I just need to get ahold of my sister." "Sister?" JJ repeated slowly.
"Kie, do you have your phone?" Sarah asked, ignoring JJ. "Wheezie is the only other person that knows Rafe wasn't home that day."
"Wheezie?" JJ asked again. "I don't know what else to do. I got us into this mess. I'm gonna do my best to get us out." Sarah said as she walked off with Kie's phone. I put my head in my hands. We're screwed.
"Wheezie?!" JJ exclaimed. "Yeah that'll work. Well, she's right about one thing. We gotta do something. Our boy is a PO-dub right now, okay?" He said as he leaned against the wall. "He's held captive by the enemy right now, maybe even scheduled for execution!"
"Are we just gonna sit here?!" He shouted at us. "Then what's the plan? We start by kidnapping Shoupe?" I asked sarcastically. Everyone got on my nerves right now. JB was gone and we couldn't do anything about it.
"Maybe. That's not the worst idea actually." JJ replied. For some reason he wasn't being sarcastic. "Oh, it's not?" I questioned. "No!" JJ defended himself.
"That's actually the worst idea I've ever heard." Pope backed me up. "It's pretty bad." Kie agreed. "Yep." Sarah said from inside the house through a window.
"You know, please, just stay out of this." JJ told Sarah. "Okay, Pope, look, we've been doing everything your way, and how has that been working out?" JJ asked him. Pope stood up. Jesus Christ. Now?
"Okay, okay, so what's your plan?" Pope asked J. "You gonna storm a jail, guns a-blazing?" "Look, Pope, all I'm trying to get you to understand is that they got our boy," JJ stood up and faced Pope.
"Are we just gonna sit here and do nothing? No! We're gonna go get his ass. We're gonna do something about it!" JJ yelled. "J, we're not storming a jail. It's not happening." I told him in a softer voice.
"Its impossible." Pope agreed. "No, fine, man. Sit in your comfy chairs. Do nothing." JJ told all of us. "I'm gonna see what I can do. Make something happen, even if I have to do it by myself." He put his hat on backwards.
"Okay you go do that." I replied. Damn I hated this day. I got up and walked inside, going to my room.
I sat down on my bed and honestly I just cried.

Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.

Sometimes, however, they're home to a family of badgers and an assortment of other strange creatures. Sometimes their core has absolutely no idea what they're doing and is really just trying their best, so can you all please stop judging them?
