woah no way 2 chapters in a day? YES WAY

third person perspective

10 p.m on a school night.

there was kageyama in his bedroom, practicing his sets back laid on his bed, his arms bending up and down as his wrists flicked each time the ball went with gravity.

1 whole week of silence.

and it was all his fault.

his fault for letting his insecurities get to him and projecting them onto the girl he most lo-

he knew that, and everyday without hearing her voice made him drown in a pool of guilt.

but he felt like it was too late now.

"depressed again?"

a voice from his door startled the setter, making him miss the ball and instead of falling onto his hands once again, it plummeted onto his face.

"ahh!" he winced as the ball rolled onto his hardwood floor. looking up he saw his older sister jeering at her sibling.

folding her arms, she gave him a judgy look. "your 'death' glare isn't scaring anyone, or at least not me" she said, quoting death with her fingers.

kageyama rolled his eyes, mummering "yeah yeah whatever"

rolling off his bed lazily like a looney tunes character, he reached for his volleyball and aimed it right as his sister. however, she caught it unfazed.

"woah tobio, stop being moody!" she laughed as she threw the ball right back at him, walking away from his room.

he slipped the chance of catching the ball again, clumsily falling on the floor. accepting his defeat he just laid on the cold ground, holding the volleyball to his chest.

sighing, his breath hitched again when his sister spoke out of the blue.

"did something happen with that girl ?"

the question had shocked him, but he tried to not have it written all over his face, and he glazed his face with another unbothered look.

"none of your business" he turned onto his side, not wanting to answer her question.

"come on tobio! i'm your older sister for goodness sake!" she screamed, joining him on the floor as she rubbed his back.

him and his sister never really talked, but it was kind of comforting to have her around.

"i fucked up" he finally said.

immediately, he felt a light slap on his left cheek.

"oww!" he held his cheek with a hand, soothing it as he stared at his disapproving sister.

"that's all your gonna say you baboon!" she shook her head, wanting to hear more.

"go die" he stuck out his tongue at her, getting up before he was about to get wwe-d.

immediately, he left the room with only his phone in his hand. he didn't wanna just sit there as he would get washed away with his mistakes, so he was gonna fix them.

unconsciously, his feet compelled him out of the home, and into the direction of someone else's.

and then there was y/n.

what was she doing in her room?

in her room on tiktok, scrolling mindlessly and stuffing her face with ice cream.

'if you stay until the end of the video, he will confess his feelings by tonight' was the caption, and you decided to scroll that away.

"bullshit" y/n whispered to herself.

with no thought and not looking, she spooned a scoop of ice cream and shovelled it into her mouth as her eyes were glued onto her screen.

while that was going on, she swear she heard the muffled sound of something knocking on her window.

yeah right now it was drizzling lightly, but another sound topped the rain like a cherry.

thinking about it, she just denied her thoughts.

but that 'thing' kept going on for a few minutes. she turned her phone to mute and stayed as quiet as possible.

was that, the sound of rocks hitting onto the surface of her window?

no way.

(yes way u dumb bitch)

cautiously getting up, she slowly pulled away her curtains to the sides.

immediately, the girl winced back slightly as she saw a rock hitting her window, sliding back down to the grassy ground.

what kind of 19th century romeo and juliet bullshit was this?

from the source of the rocks, her eyes trailed of to the figure that was throwing them. a boy with black messy hair in a blue milk hoodie was standing there on the pavement.

tobio.

"oh"

she softly spoke, unable to think of any action to pose right now. he just stood there, motionless too and nervous like she was.

like his feet, her feet guided her down the stairss. even though her mind wanted to ignore him, maybe her heart didn't.

now, they were both standing in front of each other on y/n's porch.

both were waiting for the other party to speak, but all they were doing was trying to look at each other, and if they were caught they would stare somewhere else.

finally, y/n broke the silence.

"so, why are you here? wanna get me sick in the rain?" she crossed her arms, trying to act dominate.

kageyamas hand met in front of him, his fingers fiddling and he was not sure what to say so he wouldn't fuck up anything again.

"oh, so silence right now like this whole week right?" she gritted.

"listen y/n-" the setter tried to form words but the stubborn girl cut him off instead.

"i've been trying to listen all week, kageyama!" the address of his last name instead of his first shot a pang of dread through his heart.

kageyama shot back "okay l/n, how about you go first then?"

"my pleasure!" she smiled cynically, the rain getting slightly heavier. "all we do is flirt and fuck, then you pretend you don't know me the next day? so what are we, friends with benefits, cause I can't tell anymore!"

kageyamas clicked his tongue onto the roof of his mouth "so that's what your angry about? labels?"

y/n wanting to avoid that question, she let the boy take a turn "and what about you goody-two shoes? why did you decide to turn up here like a fucking loser!"

if it was visible, i'd bet steam was coming off kageyama as he was just getting more and more frustrated, wanting to splurge something but not having enough balls to do it. "oh shut up!"

"oh yeah? look i get it your some anti-social piece of shit, but if we were friends or whatever, you would tell me how you feel!"

the word 'friends' made him want to spill even more, now the rain was a pressure on his back to say something.

"kageyama"

she walked past him, trying to cool off too as she distanced further and further away. "TELL ME WHY YOUR HERE?"

'oh so she really wanted to know huh?' was the sentence that struck in kageyamas mind.

with all his strength and might, he screamed out 4 impulsive words.

"BECAUSE I LIKE YOU!"

this stopped y/n in her tracks.

and the silence started, well except for the sound of water droplets crashing heavily

his confession echoed through every house, corridor, his voice ringing. realising what had come over him, kageyama covered his mouth with both hands wanting the ground to open up and swallow him whole.

what has he done? :o

immediately, he tried to run away, possibly back to his house where he could camp out and hide in embarrassment.

complete rejection.

but, something stopped him.

"TOBIO!"

his head turned to the now smiling girl.

"OH MY GOD, I LIKE YOU TOO!"

kageyama thought he was in a dream.

no fucking way.

NO FUCKING WAY!

he didn't want to hide under his cold demeanour in this moment, and instead a wash a pure yellow happiness took over him.

watching the girl, she ran towards him and jump onto him, making him grab her tightly with her arms around his neck.

even in the cold weather, there came the warmest hug.

y/n's legs still wrapped around his waist, she pulled away and looked at kageyama in the face.

and there, they both felt uncontrollable pigeons flying around their intestines.

they never had a kiss that wasn't dusted in alcohol or lust, but today was different.

kageyama leaned in, locking lips with y/n.

and they had a true true kiss, in the rain.
