《Alexander Creed: Re-Life》Chapter 318: The Creed Chaos System IV

The Creed Chaos System sure was something.
It even made the process of writing unique names somewhat talk-worthy.
What was so special about these usernames and passwords anyways?
If anything, wasn't this whole process just a fancy version of being able to input your name on a game?
Wasn't this already done by the tradition of top scores and leaderboards? Clearly, names and video games weren't anything groundbreaking at all.
Also, wasn't having one's name embedded in a game supposed to be a privilege reserved only for the best of the best?
Doesn't this Creed Gamer Account cheapen the effort and skill that true gamers have put into their playtime?
Who wouldn't want to be immortalized in their favorite game? This was supposed to be a competitive and cutthroat process though.
With this Creed Chaos System, it seems that any rando would now be able to cheat their way into game immortalization... as long as they got extra 200 dollars to spare!
Of course, these were the thoughts of arcade purists that felt threatened by this development.
These were the thoughts of people that couldn't afford the new console as well.
For them, this whole hubbub about Creed Gamer Accounts was just to push the sales of this Creed Chaos System.
For them, this whole username process was just a gimmicky feature that was actually pointless. It only served to make the costly console stand out.
However, it was so much more than that.
Anyone dismissive of these "gamer accounts", with usernames and passwords, was not seeing their value at all.
More than anything, they were just speculating. Since these voices of discontent were clearly from people that hadn't come across these 16+bit consoles just yet.
Creed Chaos console owners thought differently. They knew much more about the value of "gamer accounts" than the dismissive speculators.

Yes, the speculators were right about them being able to buy their spot into the top-scoring leaderboards.
But how wrong were they to think that the console's leaderboard was anything like the arcade ones?
They were also wrong to think that the console cheapens competition, effort, and skills.
In fact, the competition actually rose. Even the drive to hone their player skills got more heated.
Fanboy, with his CreedFan01 account, could only shake his head at the ignorance of the ignorants.
These people clearly didn't know what they were missing out on.
As of the moment, he was playing single-player Tetris in the comfort of his own home. Never again having to limit his playtime in fear of offending the line of people that are waiting to play right behind him.
Usually, that would have already been the advantage of owning a home console... but that was just a part of it.
He stacked his Tetrominoes as well as he could. Scored combos as he can. Tried his best to get rid of the gaps.
Unfortunately, the mistakes kept piling up and he inevitably had his game over.
After that, the option to play again, leave game, or check leaderboards popped up.
Normally, the check leaderboards option is dismissed by gamers. Not Creed Gamers with their accounts though.
Fanboy went to the leaderboards and sure enough, he had increased his standings.
CreedFan01 went from 34th out of 1,343 people and jumped to 25th out of 5,004 people.
This meant that he had improved his high score and the number of people owning CCSs and CGAs had more than doubled... and even spiked.
Of course, Fanboy also had time to check his surrounding scorers and found that he was actually sandwiched between GeorgeLucas at rank 24 and StevenSpielberg accounts at rank 26.

Fanboy didn't if these people were the real deal... but playing along and competing with icons felt amazing. If only the two-player Tetris mode was able to support truly being able to play against these people in real time.
People had a feeling that this system could really be able to do that. However, it seems that it isn't viable... for now.
Anyways, Fanboy didn't stop there as he scrolled to get to the true top 10 Tetris players.
Fanboy didn't know who owned the accounts such as CharmingLiar at 10th place or MillaJovovich at 6th place, however, he did know who currently owns the 3rd place.
AlexanderCreed. Oh, my idol. He was previously in the top spot but he must have been busy.
Who could blame the guy?
Making comic books, daily comic strips, designing toys, writing scripts, and developing other games. Alexander Creed is a creatively, productive god but he's only human.
Of course, this paved the way for accounts like NESisBetter and NESisBest to take the top two Tetris spots. Oh... how Fanboy wanted to kick their account out of contention?
These accounts were clearly a futile attempt by the rival NES to advertise on the system that they can't beat. It was hypocritical and despicable.
Who could blame them though? This was all they could do because they don't have the technology that made this hyper-advanced leaderboard happen.
Clearly, these Chaos units' leaderboards aren't contained to specific arcade cabinets that the arcade purists and naysayers were complaining about.
Also, this special leaderboard isn't exactly contained to the console of a household either.
Because it was actually the leaderboard that contained the rank, score, and progress of every "Creed Gamer" of Tetris out there.
To top it off, it also inadvertently tells people about CCS unit sales in real time.
How cool, how freaky, and how awesome was that?!
Fanboy and every Creed Gamer were in awe of this feature's genius while Nintendo and every other console maker that was doing their "research" was dreading the fact that they can't seem to replicate this feature at all.
They had some theories about it such as the Internet and whatnot but how was Creed even able to achieve such a thing?
How can the wankiest of hardware circuitry even be able to support this madness? Also, how can they even be able to get around the madness of its software?
How can their consoles or games even have a chance to compete?
With all that, it was clear that the Creed Gamer Account was no pointless gimmick.
It wasn't some fluff meant only to boost the sales of these costly Creed Chaos Systems.
More than anything, the high cost of these consoles was more than justified.
The gamer account gave them a sense of identity when playing video games, however, that was just the least of it.
The system just has a lot of exciting features such as the leaderboards that made many Creed Gamers invested.
Cherishing their unique accounts was just a part of it.
Suffice to say, the Creed Chaos System might be the greatest and most mindblowing console there ever is!

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes. See you on the other side of the portal!
