《The Devourer》Chapter 19: History of Ariwarsle and the Insane Hero (3)

The world was in Chaos once again.
The insane hero wreaked havoc everywhere she went.
Many great Warriors, Witches, and Mages came to stop her but all was futile.
She was destroying and killing without any reason or cause.
When everyone saw that there was no stopping her, they went to Alnera once again for a solution to this calamity.
But Alnera was nowhere to be found.
She had stopped answering people's prayers and was not even responding to her Saintess.
Everyone was starting to panic when Goddess Ukdite’s Saintess came with news about Alnera.
Alnera summoned a hero in the divine realm, even when the World’s Will warned her not to do so, and was punished for it.
All her divinity was taken and she was imprisoned somewhere on Ariwarsle.
People were confused and could not understand why she was imprisoned so they started to demand a clear explanation of what led to this.
Ukdite’s saint explained that Alnera summoned another hero and trained him in the divine realm so he would be ready to fight the Insane Hero as soon as possible but this angered the World’s Will.
Not only did Alnera break the rule of bringing a mortal into the Divine realm, but she also broke the rule of summoning another hero.
When Alnera made the hero summoning ritual, the World’s Will warned her not to summon more than a single person from the other world or there will be consequences.
She broke both rules and was now punished.
The whole world was devastated after hearing this news.
The only goddess that cared for the people of Ariwarsle was no more.
Most of the Humans had lost their will to fight and now were waiting for the Insane Hero to just destroy everything since they thought it was their negligence that caused all this to happen.

Days passed and the destruction was happening all over the kingdoms when suddenly, news came that the Insane Hero was Slain.
No one believed this news until a Knight wearing full plate armor that was white from head to toe came with a girl’s head in his hand and tossed it in front of the Alliance in their meeting hall.
He called himself Sage and that was all the introduction people needed as everyone knew who that person was. The hero that their goddess sacrificed herself for had finally come and saved them from destruction.
People were relieved that the Insane Hero was dead but were not happy with what it cost to achieve this result.
They deiced that no matter what, they will not stop praying to Alnera and will always remember her sacrifice.
The Hero demanded nothing from the Alliance and just went to the Witch Queendom to spend his time studying all the things other heroes created.
Everything was returning to normal when ridiculous news came from the Witch Queendom.
The Insane Hero was back and had attacked the Witch Queendom.
An alliance meeting was called urgently to discuss this event.
And when Sage confirmed that the person who attacked him was indeed the Insane Hero, everyone started to assume the worst.
She could come back from the dead.
Everyone started to believe this idea which was later proven true when she once again attacked Sage in the Witch Queendom after he had killed her just recently.
But no one panicked since Sage was there to kill her whenever she came back.
They just needed to find out how she was coming back and stop her once and for all.
Until then Sage will keep on killing her because the power difference between them was too big.
But that did not last long as Sage was injured in their most recent fight.

It did not take long for everyone to figure out that she was getting stronger with every resurrection.
People were starting to despair since they still knew nothing about why the hero was resurrecting when Sage declared that he will take care of her once and for all.
The alliance did not know what he was going to do but they had complete trust in his judgment.
After the meeting was over, Sage went to Ukdite’s temple and shut himself there until the time the Insane Hero came back.
No one knew what he had done in there and no one asked about it either.
They fought just like they always do but this time Sage narrowly defeated her but did not kill her. Instead, he forcefully put a pendent around the Insane Hero’s neck.
After wearing the pendant she stopped moving as if she was frozen in time, and crystals started to grow around her.
When the crystals stopped growing, she was frozen and trapped inside a crystal prison.
Sage did not explain much about how he managed to do this or what that pendant was and asked for the Alliance to gather since he had things to tell them.
At the meeting, he declared that he will take the Insane Hero and will be sealed inside the Loswarire Forest with her.
Every witch and scholar will be removed from that forest and a barrier, made by Ukdite’s magic will be placed around it. All the journals and writings with mentions about the Insane Hero will be taken with him to the forest.
And finally, no more heroes shall be summoned under any circumstances.
No one protested anything the hero said and everyone started to execute Sage’s orders.
…
I pinch the bridge between my forehead and nose in frustration after gathering everything I could gather from all the writings.
There were a lot of things that I could not understand, things that were incomplete or were not explained properly.
How did I get here when no ritual was performed?
What are the Lamias doing in here when everyone was supposed to leave the forest?
How much time has passed since all of this?
But the main thing to focus on was,
I release a big sigh and say out loud,
“I am trapped inside a prison”.

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend

Covenant Sinners: The Origin of a Demon Queen
Demon-slayer knight Hector Aeronwen became an enemy of all humankind after saving a dying half-demon girl out of pity. Little did he know, his impulsive action had forever changed the course of the world and the fates of many. This is the story about Hector's desperate quest and the beginning of the demoness whose destiny is to shake the world to its very foundation. Author's note: At the risk of spoiling too much of this story, I want to reveal a bit about the core idea behind this work of fiction. I set out with the idea to write a story in the perspective of the second in command of a demon lord, which then would be followed up with large scale kingdom buildings and warring states. But then I asked myself: what past do they have between them for the Demon Lord to have so much faith in her second in command, and for him to be so loyal to such a horrible being? So this is my attempt at writing the origin of those two, who, while hated by all races in the world, still have each other as the only confidant to entrust their life to. If you are like me and want to see where this premise, with a vague destination in mind, will lead to, please have a read and give me your valued feedback!
