"Is Vic coming today?" Layla asks dribbling the ball while I study her movements. "Not sure." Shes been avoiding me lately and im starting to get pissed off.

I mean I thought we were over the whole fact of hating each other. She definitely didn't say anything about it when we made out. So what now?

"Pick up the ball before you accidentally knock someone out with it." I mumble and she rolls her eyes.

"Speaking of the devil." She whispers and I look up only to find Victoria talking to a professor. "Ill be right back." I jog towards them quickly wrapping my arm around her shoulder and give her a small peck on her temple which she backs away from.

I ignore the tightness in my chest and clench my jaw. "Here to come cheer me on?" I force a smile out. "No I'm trying to convince Mr. Thompson for some extra credit but he refuses to help me out here." She huffs.

Ill have to have a talk with him later I guess. "Ill see you in class tomorrow Miss-" She cuts him off before he can finish. "I told you I prefer Vic or Victoria."

"Yes Yes I know." He waves her off. "What you don't like being called by your last name?" I raise an eyebrow. "It holds up a lot of expectations and it reminds me of my grandma." She shivers.

Her grandma is a complete bitch. Pardon my rude words but its well deserved. She's very close minded and is obsessed with helping others find their true nature.

'Straight' and 'Normal'.

Always telling me I should have gotten my surgery even if it brought life threatening consequences at such a young age. Even now.

I mean yeah I've met other people with the same ideas but nothing like her. "Vasquez!" I hear coach yell out.

"Ive got to go. Ill see you after?" She nods her head not paying any attention to my words as she looks behind me. I grab her jaw forcing her to look at me and quickly kiss her cheek.

My lips tingle at the contact and she looks at me strangely. That was weird. It was almost on instinct.

"Why?" She says suddenly snapping me out of my trance. "You're making it harder for me than it already is." She quietly says walking past me towards the bench.

Now i'm confused.

How is she gonna say im making it hard for her when shes making it hard for me? Ive never felt this way about anyone before and shes just throwing me off like a complete stranger.

I breathe out closing my eyes. I have to focus on the game. Not some girl who doesn't give me the time of day.

Victoria

Shes coming today.

I finally convinced her to come but for some reason im regretting it. After all this time I've practically begged her to meet her I wanna back out?

She should be here in a couple of minutes.

The whistle blows and I look up at Kate's calculative stare. Shes extremely focused as she searches the field. Ive managed to avoid her for a week after the make out. Then suddenly Sadie said she wanted to come out with the truth already.

Which seemed out of the blue at first but it must have been because of the arranged marriage. I wonder if I never told her would she still have done it?

The game continues as I sit there.

Watching.

Waiting.

By the time I look up at the clock its already halftime. No goals have been made which is rare for them since Kate usually makes one on the first half.

But the other team seems good.

My heart pounds in my chest as Kate walks up towards me bottle in hand breathing heavily. She swipes at her face with a towel sitting down besides me as we sit in a comfortable silence.

"Someone has to tell that striker bitch to calm the fuck down." I hear Chloe mutter clenching her jaw clearly pissed. "What'd she do?"

Chloe shakes her head sighing as she gulps down a ton of water.

"The fucker keeps on shoving Kate to the ground where have you been the whole game?" Layla mouths off.

I must have been too busy with my thoughts to even notice. "Has the ref done anything about it?" I question looking at Kate who has a small bruise now forming on her arm as she checks it out.

"Nah. Doesn't matter either. Ive met a bunch of players like her. She'll shut up once the game ends and who comes out with the trophy." She says confidently making me shuffle my thighs at how attractive she sounded.

"Good luck." I say quietly and she stares at me no emotions behind her eyes making my heart clench. I hate when shes like this.

I know its part of her 'game mode' but it reminds me of her father a lot. Her eyes seem to soften in response and she kisses my nose leaving.

The game starts once again and I feel a tap on my shoulder. "Can you explain to me what that was?" A feminine voice growls out and I stop breathing momentarily.

"Sadie. I-" She walks around me staring at the field.

"I didn't think you'd come."

"Me neither honestly. But here I am. I'm honestly starting to regret it after that."

"Come on. You know I have to do that. Its for the media remember?"

The crowds start screaming and I look up to find Layla zooming past everyone kicking the ball towards Kate. They pass it back and forth at each other almost like they can read each other minds and I stand up cheering.

Everything happens so quickly as I feel Kate look up at me suddenly her eyebrows dipped in confusion when an opposite player knocks into her.

A pained scream rips through my ears as I see Kate fall down holding her leg. I don't think, I just run towards her my lungs almost bursting in my chest.

I can hear her screaming and crying as I crouch down besides her. "Give her space! Give her space!" Chloe shouts and someone grabs me.
