《Vegas Sushi》16. Sunny Suicide

Sunny had been in the middle of packing her things when she had gotten a phone call. Her first t was that it was Rico but then she sadly remembered that Rico was dead.
"Hello is Rico there."
"No who is this," said Sunny.
"Hey is this Sunny, it's Sheek remember me. I was looking for Rico man I'm glad I got you though."
"Sheek where are you?"
"I'm at a place called the Singrin," said Sheek.
"Do you still have the fish, the golden carp?" said Sunny.
"Yeah that's why I was calling. I'm suppoe to meet up with Rico. He was going to buy it off me."
"Rico's dead, Sheek"
"Shit that's rough but are you okay, Sunny." asked Sheek.
"Yeah I'm okay, Sheek, but I really need that fish and I'm kind of broke."
"Hey don't worry Sunny, I'll just give it to you."
"Are you serious?" said Sunny.
"Yeah what do I need it for."
"But you were going to sell it to Rico."
"Well that was his idea. I told him I'd give it to him if he'd let me have dinner with you. Youk know I'm a big fan."
Sunny thought about it for minute. Rico created all this mess because he was jealous. He could have just let Sheek have dinner with Sunny and all of this would have never happened.
"Okay, I'll meet you there. What's the place called again," said Sunny.
"The Singrin," said Sheek.
"Got it Singrin. Where is that?"
"Any limo driver should be able to get you here," said Sheek.
"Thanks, Sheek," said Sunny.
Of all the luck Sunny thought. The fish had just fallen in her lap just like that. As Mitsubishi had said the fish selects its master. Maybe the fish had selected Sunny.
Sunny felt like a new women. She began to work on her new creation. The new verison of herself was dark, dangerous, and sexy. She put on a dark pink skin tight latex mini dress. She put on a pink wig that was cut in a bob hair style. He had four inch plat form boots in black. Her makeup was pale white and she put on a coat of think balck eyeliner.
Sunny looked devilishly. She then added some silver wrist bands and arm bands and when she looked in the mirror she scared herself. This was Vegas, Sunny. A Sunny suicide.
She left Toto with a note. Toto barked at her as she left.
"Take car of him, Toto," she said.

When Gates awoke he found himself again seeing a familiar sight of clear blue sky. The blue sky shimmered like water and he thought he was once again back at the Pearl and that Mitsubishi had found him. He expected to see the dark silhouette of the great white shark float above him but it never did.

Gates also noticed that all his pains had disappeared. He was no longer tortured by the pains of bullet wounds and his mangled spine. He felt a peace for once in his life.
He then remembered the explosion and that the Cadillac had been blown to pieces. He sat up and found himself sitting on a cliff over looking the ocean. And there to the side of him was the Pink Cadillac in perfect shape.
Gates stood up and saw that someone was in the driver's seat. As he got closer he realized it was the King, Elvis Presley himself.
"Elvis?" said Gates.
"Hey partner," said Elvis. Gates couldn't believe where he was.
"Am I dead?" said Gates.
"Well that up to you, partner. Why don't you have a seat." said Elvis.
Gates sat in the passenger seat.
"Elvis, I thought they'd killed the Caddy."
"No they just set her free. I've been waiting for her to get here but you just wouldn't let her go, Gates. But you did a fine job of putting her back together for me. I appreciate it. Thank you very much."
"Sorry. What are we doing up here king?"
"Resting. You see that's all there is to do up here."
Gates looked through the windshield and down below he saw the world.
"Is that the world down there."
"It sure is partner. All the living there is to do is down there. There are so many things I wished I'd done. Tell me Gates what does that burger dog taste like?"
"Heaven."
"I bet. You know the last few years you been living your life like you been in a hurry to get here. So you got a choice. You can stay here and rest, we can go fishing everyday but I tell you ain't much else to do. Nothing's going to hurt, you're never going to expeirnce any hurt, but then you don't get to taste any of the good stuff either like Burger Dogs, a beautiful sun set, or even the kiss and love a beautiful women."
Gates sat there and listened to the king.
"I'm grateful I made it because it was my time, Gates; but your time can be later if you want. The choice is your," said Elvis.
Gates thought about it.
"What's going to happen to Sunny."
"God only knows Gates, but she's a woman who needs someone like you and you need someone like her. Will it work out who knows but the good things in life don't last forever so just enjoy them why you can," said Elvis.
"I think I'm gonna catch you next time, king."
"You got it, cow boy. Thanks for taking care of the Cadillac for me."
Gates got out of the car and went to leave.
"Oh Gates," said the king. Gates turned around. "Don't be cruel."
***
Gates woke up and saw the smoking remains of the King's Cadillac. Heaven was deserted. Not a car insight just a few tumble weeds running around.

Gates had no phone. He was going to have to walk back to town.

Leon and Ivan had made out with the money but even though they were each part owners of the eight million dollars they weren't happy.
"Yu didn't have to blow up the car, Ivan." said Leon. He was pissed that the Cadillac had been destroyed.
"Don't cry. I'll buy you new car," said Ivan.
"That wasn't the deal."
"Fuck the deal. I make the deal. You are nothing without me. I destroy little Leon. A coward. You don't have heart. You're scared. A scared man." said Ivan.
On that note Leon's car got a flat and he pulled over to the side of the road.
Leon wanted Ivan to change the tire. To have his fat ass do something for a change.
"Well?" Ivan said.
"Why don't you change the tire," said Leon.
"I'm the boss, you do what is say. I'm the fucking boss. You got that. I'm the fucking boss here. You change the tire."
There was a look in Ivan's eyes that clearly told Leon that he was done walking on egg shells for him.
Leon stared into Ivan's eyes and they clearly told him he was going to die.
A cold sweat came over Leon and he got out of the car. Leon opened the trunk and took out the spare. He then pulled out a first aid kit and when he opened it there was a gun inside.
He picked it up and then wondered if he could actually go through with it. He'd never killed anyone. Sure he was from Compton but he wasn't a killer.
Still he knew Ivan was carrying and as soon as Leon finished changing the tire. he was going to get it. Leon knew it. All the signs were there. As soon as he got back into the car. it was game over for him. He felt it balls to bones.
Leon realized Gates was right. He'd made a bad choice by making a deal with the devil.
Leon changed the tire. He watched Ivan from the outside and he saw the man looking at him in side mirror.
When Leon finished changing the tire, he put the flat tire int e trunk and took the gun. He held it for a moment. He wondered if he could actually take someone's life. He wondered if he could actually kill a man. Even if the man was an evil son of bitch. He realized it was live or die.
Leon slowly crept to Ivan on the passenger side. He tapped the glass and Ivan looked at him. Ivan's cold gaze met Leon's gun and Leon fired. Blood smeared all over the windows and the glass shattered in to tiny pieces.
Leon opened the door and Ivan Smirnoff fell out with a gun in his hand.
Leon vomited. He fell to the ground shaking. He threw his gun away. He was on his knees and he looked up to the sky.
"Lord forgive me for what I have done. I did not mean to take another man's life. But this was not a good man." Leon sat back against the car and cried for what he'd done. He'd swore to himself that he would never kill anyone and yet he had done just that.
***
Gates was walking back to Vegas reassessing his life. He went two miles when he saw Leon's Monte Carlo pull up.
Gates immediately noticed the busted window and blood on the windshield.
"What's all this?" said Gates.
"That's what's left of Ivan Smirnoff," said Leon.
Gates nodded.
"You alright?" said Gates.
"I'll live. You wanna lift?" said Leon.
"I don't know."
"It's twenty miles to Vegas," said Leon.
Gates needed to get back as quickly as possible but he didn't want to follow the fate of Ivan.
"I'm sorry about the Cadillac," said Leon.
"It's okay, it was time for someone else to have it," said Gates.
"I'll buy you another one," said Leon.
"Yeah you will," said Gates.
On the drive back Leon told him everything. Leon dropped Gates back at the Leisure Station Hotel. Gates took the three duffel bags then decided to give one to Leon.
"That's for Leon's BBQ Pit," said Gates.
"Thanks Gates," said Leon.
When Gates got to his room he dumped all the money on his bed. There was a mountain of money and he couldn't wait for Sunny to see it.
He found Toto sleeping on one of the pillows she he figured Sunny must be there. He looked around for her but he realized she was gone.
Toto looked up at Gates and whined a bit. He looked depressed. He noticed Toto was sleeping on a piece of paper. He picked it up and read it.
HI GATES,
HOW WAS HEAVEN. I HOPE YOUR TOURNAMENT WENT WELL FOR I KNOW IT'S WHAT YOU WANTED. I FOUND THE FISH AND WILL TAKE IT TO MITSUBISHI, SO NO WORRIES. I'M SORRY FOR EVERYTHING. I TOOK A CHANCE AND GAMBLED ON WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A GOOD HAND BUT I FORGOT THAT I WAS PLAYING THE BEST. I HAVE MUCH TO LEARN. IF YOU CARE DON'T LOOK FOR ME. IF YOU DON'T THEN IT DOESN'T MATTER NOW DOES IT. TAKE CARE...
SUNNY
PS. I LEFT TOTO TO KEEP YOU COMPANY. I MUCH THINK HE PREFERS BURGER THAN TOFU, BESIDES DOG IS MAN'S BEST FRIEND ."

Manny Diaz found Gates. He was limo driver who hung out at the hotel.
"Mr. Gates, you're friend is hot ... Ms. Booni."
"You mean Ms Bunny," said Gates.
"That's what I said, Miss Booni."
"When did you see her?"
"I took her in the limo about an hour ago."
"Where?"
"To the SinGrin."
"Ah shit! Manny you gotta get me in."

City of Champions Online
Having found the tragic truth that an art degree is worth less than the paper it is printed on, Jacquelyn Jones is frustrated with her dead end work as a graphic designer for a marketing firm, finding new ways to try and convince people that this week's 50 cent off sale is actually worth driving to the store. She's tried other VRMMORPGs, but they've all been fantasy-based, with a couple sci-fi games thrown in. But she wants something more, something Super. Superhero VRMMOs have had a... subpar reception in the past, in part due to the fact that the nature of most MMOs makes for fairly unheroic tales. After the couple hundredth time blasting the same group of mooks from the same faction on the same street corner of the same city, using the same powerset as everyone else because you only have a few options, it is hard to think of yourself as a hero anymore. But then she heard about City of Champions Online. For the first time, a developer partnered with a tabletop RPG maker to use their system to create a VRMMORPG, and it was one of the systems designed to be used with superhero games! And despite the name, there was no getting stuck in the same city as all the other players. The game world was a detailed replica of the real world, down to having some of the same shops and restaurants in town. She could be whoever she wanted, whatever she wanted. Now, she just has to find a way to become the heroine she's always wanted to be.
