《DBD oneshots》32 - Hard Work Pays Off (Trapper x Dwight)

Dwight spawned in, and he realized he was in the Memorial Institute. He spawn in with Ace next to him. Dwight slowly walked into the memorial, seeing a gen right away, and Jane working on it. He went to help her, but as soon as he got working Jane left. Dwight stopped for a moment. He couldn't believe it.
He went back to working, until he heard his heartbeat ring through his ears. He got up and ran away, the heartbeat seeming to fade. Dwight sighed, as he heard Jane getting hit by the killer. He rushed over to try and save her, but he saw a gen on the way.
Seeing as no other gen was done, he started working on it. Soon, he completed it by himself. Only 4 more.. He thought to himself. He heard another scream, and this time it was Jane getting hooked. He ran over and unhooked her, even though the killer was close.
He healed her up and stood. He noticed a gen across the room, and ran for it. he expected Jane to follow, but she didn't. Dwight sighed as he started working alone. He was half way done when he heard Ace getting stuck in a bear trap nearby. He continued working, not letting the heartbeat and scream distract him.
He smiles as the gen roared to life. 2 down, 3 to go. He hoped that someone else was working on other gens. He walked around trying to find one, but he didn't. He couldn't have any luck finding one. And he noticed that none other has been completed. He walked further, not noticing the bear trap on the path ahead of him.
He screamed as a sharp pain shot through his ankle, immediately trying to get it off. He luckily got it off first try, and continued on his bunt for gens. He found the one he originally worked on, decided to just continue from there. But, he had no time. He heard Another scream. Ace.
This time, he decided to help. He ran to the sound, and he tried to distract the killer. The Trapper noticed, and shook his head. He went to swing at Ace, but Dwight jumped in the way. The Trapper was getting annoyed. This survivor is dumb enough to help the people who won't help him? He scoffed mentally.
He went to swing again at Ace, but yet again hit Dwight. He growled, but still threw Dwight over his shoulder and hooked him. He went back to Ace, trying to get him to a hook, since he's on death hook. Everyone is on at least second hook, Ace on death.

He noticed no one going to help Dwight, so he went back over and watched. He saw Dwight manage to slip off the hook, and he backed up some. He heard someone step in his bear trap, and turned his attention to that.
Dwight on the other hand was trying to get someone to heal him. No one would. He was still nice though, and when he crossed Jane's path, he healed her since she was injured. THAT was what made Jane help him. After she was healed, she healed Dwight. But Dwight noticed her rolling her eyes and scoffing. He sighed.
After a while of failing to find a gen, he decided to just distract the killer, since everyone was on death hook except him. Well, the other survivor that he didn't identify was dead, but other than that, he was the only one on second hook.
He saw the Trapper chasing Ace, and decided to jump in front of the Trapper. The Trapper stopped, and shook his head. Ace was able to escape. Dwight nodded. The Trapper, yet again, shook his head. Dwight started walking away, watching the Trapper follow.
The Trapper was following Dwight, already having a plan of keeping him away from helping. He really didn't want to kill Dwight, since he was working whole the others benefit from doing nothing. He saw Dwight hide in a locker, probably expecting him to grab him. But the Trapper had other plans. He put a bear trap right in front of the locker.
He heard a quiet "Asshole" from the locker, and he smirked as he walked off. Dwight grumbled, still determined to help. He jumped out of the locker, and struggled to take the trap of when it activated. Once be did, he ran to find the Trapper. He was to late to save Ace though, as he heard the death scream.
Dwight flinched, now trying to find Jane to help her. He ran frantically around the map, trying to locate her. He heard one gen roar to life, and he smiled. But he frowned right after. She was probably doing it to escape, and she wouldn't care of he died. That means hatch. He sighed, looking down at the ground.
The Trapper found Jane. Now he was chasing her, already having her in the injured state. He saw Dwight looking at the ground, and he slashed at him. He was mad that this boy was feeling upset for the people who did nothing but benefit from. His hard work.
Dwight instantly perked up and ran after the Trapper and Jane. He saw Jane get downed, and tried to stop the Trapper from picking her up. But, he was pushed out of the way. The Trapper lifted her up from the ground, but turned around and motioned for Dwight to follow. And he did just that.

The Trapper led Dwight to a halfway repaired gen. He motioned his head towards it, and Dwight slowly approached it, confused, but still working on it since it was the only one left. He notices the Trapper laying traps all around the room. "Asshole! Fucking asshole!" He mumbled, way louder than he wanted.
He watched the Trapper walk away with Jane, and was startled when the last gen came to life. He disarmed one of the traps and started to look for the exit gate. He noticed that Jane wasn't hooked yet, but didn't think much of it. As he searched, he bumped into the Trapper.
He saw the Trapper motioning to him to follow again. He hesitated but still followed him. The Trapper led Dwight to the exit gate, but not before putting a trap in front of the switch. He knew Dwight would disarm it, and once he did, the Trapper put a new on there for when Dwight was done. He wasn't being mean, but he was trying to show Dwight that whenever he helped someone who won't give him any help in return, it was bad.
He noticed Jane there, trying to exit once Dwight got the gate open. He wasn't having it. He hit her, putting her in an injured state since she healed herself, and when he saw Dwight get the trap off and try to help, he hit him and motioned for him to leave.
Dwight slowly walked into the gate, not leaving. He watched the Trapper Mori Jane, waiting for him to come and kill him. But the Trapper never did, only approach him and motion for him to leave again. Dwight shook his head. "Why won't you kill me, but you kill the others?" He heard the Trapper sigh.
The Trapper was trying to figure out how to tell Dwight why. He hasn't used his voice in so long, that it hurts when he tries. But he attempts to, even though it feels like a fire in his throat.
"Because..." Says a deep, hoarse voice. Dwight, being the bottom simp he is, flushed a deep scarlet red at the sound. It sent chills down his spine. "You work hard... While others don't.." The Trapper says. "They expect you to do all of the work, while they benefit from it. I noticed, and I didn't like it." He continues.
Dwight looks down. He knows he is too nice. He knows he shouldn't, but he would feel bad if he didn't help. "But, even after many attempts to keep you away from helping them, you still tried. And I like you for that. You help people who don't give two shits about you. But it's bad."
Dwight laughs slightly. He's right. They don't give 2 shits about him. "And I try to show you it's bad, by setting those traps whenever you started working. To keep you from helping the other assholes, and getting you to help yourself instead." Dwight smiles. He feels like the Trapper cares for him, and he likes the feeling. Even though it's a killer.
"I never wanted to kill you. Because you showed loyalty. I like that trait about you. You also show care, kindness, and hospitality to others. You're the perfect person, and others need to realize that about you." Dwight blushes. He can't believe a killer just called him perfect.
"I'm not perfect. I am not even close. But, that's really nice." Dwight smiles. The Trapper almost melts. The boy looks so adorable when he smiles. "Well, you're perfect to me." He puts a hand on Dwight's shoulder and pats it. His hand lingers there for a moment longer than it should have, before he pulls away.
There's and awkward silence between them, the Trapper about to tell him to leave when Dwight speaks up. "I'm Dwight, even though you probably know that, but what's your name?" He asks, smiling nervously. The Trapper hesitates, but answers truthfully. "Evan." Dwight nods, turning to leave.
He hesitates, turning around quickly and wrapping his arms around the killer. Evan freezes, before slowly wrapping his arms around the smaller boy. "Thank you, um, that made me feel better about myself." Dwight says, looking up at the masked killer. "No problem." Evan replies, patting Dwight on the back.
Dwight gives a small wave before running out of the gate. The Trapper smiles. He has never been hugged before. He liked the feeling of Dwight's hug. He realizes how adorable Dwight looked when smiling, when he looked up at the killer when he was thanking him.
He realizes just how much he likes Dwight.
