Librocubicularist (noun): a person who reads in bed

An evil laugh growing in his throat, the young boy snatched a flashlight from the “forbidden cabinets” and leapt into bed.

He eagerly cracked open the book under the covers.

Today, he would continue reading about the son of the sea god. He had been completely captivated when the awesome protagonist pulled a sword out of a pen. The most fascinating of all, was the main character’s ADHD.

He had ADHD, too.

Not a lot of people treated him kindly for it. He wasn’t exactly the best student at school, since the birds outside the classroom window were often more interesting than worksheets. When he tried to talk to other kids, they usually would look lost at his wandering or bouncing thoughts.

But the story’s protagonist seemed just like him. They were both outcasts, loners, the “troubled” children that couldn’t bring themselves to pay attention to the teacher.

Does that mean he could be a hero, too?

The small boy wondered cheerfully to himself as he kept on skimming through the pages, the soft glow of his flashlight illuminating a heartening world of fantasy.

Little did he know, his mother was standing right outside his door.

Sighing happily, she turned away and threw away the old flashlight batteries she had replaced earlier that day.
