《How I Became A Jarl》Journey To New Land pt. 1

It was finally a day to leave this island for the first time. It wasn’t the best time to leave but it was too late to say no. Skyge was hanging off my shoulder all of the time. Since he is in his small form it isn’t a problem. Luckily there will be lights all of the time around us so he won’t change his form on the journey.
It was my first time meeting a priest in this world. It was the same person that I saw a few days ago before meeting with Astvar. With his hood down I could finally see his face. He was bald with a long black beard and some kind of runes drawn on his face. He greeted me by shaking both of my hands and bowing down a little bit. While he was bowing I noticed that he had a knife on his belt. Looks like they don’t defend themselves only with words and prayer.
[ Agor ]
“Nice to meet you. My name is Agor, priest of Pure Sun. I’ll be your guide on this journey. Is that yours?” He asked as he pointed at Skyge.
[ Eric ]
“It’s my dog.”
[ Skyge ]
“I’m not a dog!” Said Skyge but only I could understand that. For the priest, Skyge just barked.
[ Eric ]
“Shh… Just in case no one else can know that you’re a wolf.” I said it telepathically to Skyge.
We learned that since we share a bond between us. We can talk on a long distance and know our positions. There was one big ship preparing for the trip. It wasn’t a typical Vikings ship. It was like a mix of Vikings ship and carrack. The same type of ship that Christopher Columbus used. No matter how it looked like it was still a Vikings ship and I was put on rowing duty. I did build my body a little bit since I came to this world but this… was hell! After a few minutes, it felt like my arm could snap at any time. I hoped we would change after twenty minutes or so… But then one of the guards said…

[ Guard ]
“Brace yourself, man! In three hours we’ll stop on some island. Good luck!” Three hours! I’ll be here doing this for three hours! I didn’t hear him correctly right?
[ Guard ]
“We’re here!” Shouted guard.
While everyone left their seats I was still mindlessly repeating the rowing. I wasn’t sure if I even felt my arms anymore. I couldn’t even lift my hands to eat. The food was right in front of me. I looked around and a few people were only using their hands to eat… I planted my face in the chicken and ate it. It wasn't an easy and clean way to do it but there was no other choice in my current state.
[ Skyge ]
“Master! Why are you eating like this?”
[ Eric ]
“Because… I’m in that kind of mood…”
[ Skyge ]
“Liar! You’re a big liar!”
[ Eric ]
“No, I’m not!” I wanted to point at Skyge with my finger but I couldn’t lift it…
[ Skyge ]
“Yes, you are! I can feel it!”
[ Eric ]
“How?!”
[ Skyge ]
“Your heart! When you told a lie it was beating differently than earlier!” Cheerfully said Skyge.
[ Eric ]
“Are you sure you’re two years old?” I said with a sarcastic voice.
While I was working down there! Skyge was spending his time with Tae and food! Because of my argument with Skyge, I didn’t notice Tae standing by us.
[ Tae ]
“What are you doing?”
[ Eric ]
“Talking with Skyge.”
[ Tae ]
“I can see that but… didn’t you also change into a dog?”
[ Eric ]
“What do you mean?” I asked with my biggest smile and my messy face.

[ Tae ]
“Nothing… Just don’t talk to me with a full mouth…”
[ Eric ]
“Wait… how are you still standing?!”
[ Tae ]
“Huh?”
[ Eric ]
“Didn’t you paddle too?”
[ Tae ]
“It’s a job for regular guards…”
[ Eric ]
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?!”
[ Tae ]
“Couse I didn’t know you were that dumb.”
When I was slowly getting strength back in my arms we were preparing to sail again. This time I didn’t have to paddle! Finally, some time to watch the sea and the islands near me! The sun was up almost right above. I think I could still see Dalir or at least the mountain near it. I know that Dalir is a small village but the mountain is huge. There weren't many big islands. Only small ones that weren’t even on the map.
While I was enjoying the view someone tapped me on the shoulder. When I looked back it was the same guard that ordered me to paddle. Before I could say anything he grabbed me and dragged me down to oars.
[ Eric ]
“But I’m a guard! I’m supposed to guard the Jarl!” I shouted as I was dragged.
[ Guard ]
“Someone as puny as you, a guard?”
[ Eric ]
“Yes!”
[ Guard ]
“Don’t make me laugh!”
[ Eric ]
“There is an even skinnier guy than me! And he also is a guard!”

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
