Chapter 3084: 3084
Chapter 3084 The Preliminaries Commence
“It’s unlikely. The Flower Butterfly School’s cultivation techniques are rather shameful. Although they have quite a bit of fame, not many sects like to interact with them. There’s nothing in our information that indicates that the Flower Butterfly School is part of the Chu family’s subordinates. Most likely, young master Wuji was simply baited into coming to provoke us by Chu Ren. Considering big sister Mingxuan and his past encounter, as well as Long Chen becoming the most famous figure at the Nine Prefecture Convention, with just a few words, Chu Ren could easily bait young master Wuji into coming over,” said Luo Xue.
Long Chen nodded inside. The Luo family was the Chu family’s mortal enemy. Both sides had information on the other. Collecting intel was a priority, so there shouldn’t be a mistake.
Just looking at young master Wuji, it was clear that he was a brainless, spoiled brat. It was easy for someone to bait him into one of their schemes. Hence, Luo Xue’s deduction was most likely correct.
Just at this moment, the plaza quivered and an elder appeared at the center.
The elder introduced himself. This Martial Dao convention was now being carried out by the Huayun Trading Company due to Long Chen. Normally, the Huayun Trading Company was only in charge of storing the convention’s prizes and resources, so this elder humbly introduced himself, saying that he had no experience in this regard. He hoped for everyone to forgive him if he made any mistakes.
When that elder appeared, he caused countless cheers to ring out. They didn’t need this elder to talk about being the champion or stirring them up with talk about the prizes. What they wanted was a fair martial competition with no cheaters.
For this elder from the Huayun Trading Company to appear meant that there would be no cheating from now on. The Huayun Trading Company’s golden reputation was something that no one doubted.

The elder also hadn’t expected such an ardent reception. Hence, he once more bowed and thanked everyone. Rather than trying to impress everyone with talk of prizes or fame, he directly announced the start of the drawing of lots for battles.
However, this drawing of lots wasn’t done by the disciples themselves. Everyone had been placed into a draw when they registered. Everyone’s names were written on jade tablets, and they now spun in a giant ball.
As the ball spun, those tens of millions of jade tablets swirled around. Suddenly, all of them stuck together in pairs. At the same time, everyone’s tablets lit up.
“Gu Shanguang?” [1]
Long Chen looked at his tablet. A name had appeared there, and that was his opponent. His own name would have appeared on the opponent’s tablet as well.
Long Chen then vanished, appearing on a martial stage. This martial stage was three thousand square meters, and there was a barrier of light blocking their sight outside. This place was its own world. Now, the competition had started.
A bald man with two large hatchets on his back appeared in front of Long Chen. That was his opponent.
“His head really is bright.” Long Chen thought to himself that his opponent’s name really suited him.
“Long Chen, is it? Taste my hatchet!”
The bald man roared, his Blood Qi erupting. He then charged at Long Chen like a wild bull. His aura was powerful, as he was at the ninth Heavenstage of the Divine Flame realm.
“Thank you, but I don’t eat those things.” Long Chen unleashed a single punch.
As a result, that large man’s arms shuddered. The webbing between his thumb and forefinger split open, and blood flowed out. He was sent flying.
His hatchets fell to the ground in front of him. After that, he was shocked to find that their heads had been broken. With one punch, Long Chen had broken his weapons.

“I admit defeat!”
The large man hastily cried out, knowing that the power difference was too great. He admitted defeat to save his life.
Long Chen returned to his original location. Bai Shishi, Lu Mingxuan, Luo Bing, and all the others had also returned. They also had an easy time.
“Hahaha, my opponent was way too weak. He couldn’t even see me, so I just knocked him out,” said Bai Xiaole, very pleased with himself.
“Don’t be too pleased. Even if it’s just the preliminaries, you can still encounter a supreme expert. Not every fight will be so easy,” said Bai Shishi coldly.
On the other hand, Long Chen patted Bai Xiaole on the shoulder. “Don’t listen to her. If you’re happy, then smile. If you’re pleased, then show it. Even if you hold everything in, spending all day with such a bitter expression, no one will give you a single immortal crystal.”
Bai Xiaole’s expression, which had just fallen due to Bai Shishi’s words, once more lit up. “Haha, brother-in-law is correct!”
“Are you getting itchy for a beating?” raged Bai Shishi.
“I’m talking about sister Mingxuan. What does it have to do with you? Boss already said that he won’t let you obtain him in this lifetime. Don’t get any wild dreams,” said Bai Xiaole, hiding behind Long Chen fearlessly.
Hearing that, Lu Mingxuan laughed without saying anything. But Bai Shishi was incensed.
Just at this moment, the giant ball once more spun, and their names flowed randomly again.
Long Chen was startled. “The first round is over already?”
It had only been less than half an incense stick’s worth of time, but everyone was already done fighting?
“It’s according to the rules. If people can’t beat their opponent within a set time, they’ll both be eliminated. In the past, some people with hidden goals sent people to stall their opponents. They used water, earth, and wood cultivators with strong defensive and control abilities to stall them, and then they both got eliminated. It’s truly difficult to deal with. Without senior apprentice-brother Long Chen here, such a thing would have continued to happen. Ninety-nine percent of the Nine Prefecture Convention’s competitors have to thank you,” said Luo Xue.
What a sinister scheme. If those powers behind the scenes sensed someone that could threaten them, they would send experts specialized in stalling just so that they could both be eliminated. In the end, the rewards would be obtained by their own people.
Although Long Chen had known that the Nine Prefecture Convention would be controlled by people, it was his first time hearing of such a thing.
“So that’s the case. Does that mean that the lots were also controlled by them?” asked one of the Battle God Palace’s disciples.
“Of course. They wouldn’t let one of their own people encounter their allies. They just slowly had their enemies wiped out,” said Luo Xue.
“How sinister,” sighed that person.
“At the very least, now we’re all enjoying a fair competition. Being able to use your own abilities and luck to compete with other heavenly geniuses is its own pleasure,” said Luo Xue with a smile.
Just at this moment, the second round started. Before getting to look at the name of his opponent, Long Chen arrived on the martial stage.
1. Gu Shanguang. Shanguang=mountain light. Presumably, he means that his bald head is like a bright mountain.

The Journey of a Lazy Magician
As the state of the world grew dangerous everyday as the Demon Lord whom have the capability to destroy the world, will be un-sealed soon and the attacks of the demon forces' became more frequent, what better time it would be to be held as one of the richest person in the world. Only a sane person with the right mind would do that. Having to acquire something before an inevitable and hopeless end is the best option rather than trying to find the solution for the end of the world. I mean, the device used to re-seal the Demon Lord is gone. It could be under the ocean for all we know so why waste you're energy on stupid things like that? Of course, why would I waste my energy to do my incredibly hard goal when I can have my fellow party members to do it. Saving their "lives" from lesser goblins using a stick as a weapon usually does the trick to get someone on board so I think I'm pretty much set. *The cover photo is mine :3* AN: And thus, a schedule has been formed! I would be posting new chapter ever 2-3 days and if i haven't posted in this time, then something happened to me personally that makes me unable to post chapters in the scheduled time. The reason will mostly be school or i just have a lot of things scheduled in a certain day, etc. Sorry if it did happen as i am a very busy senior high student and could only write in his free time. Anyway, that is all and have a good day/night, the person who is reading this!

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
