It is cliche to say you like long walks on the beach at sunset

But one night we took one when the sky was no longer glowing

There was no one else there

But the sound of cars driving past

And the muffled voices from far off restaurants

It was just you and me

The lights of the buildings a warm distant glow

And the lazy blink of airplanes disguised as shooting stars

The sound in between your breaths

Brought forth the sound of steady waves

I held your hand

And walked in the water as you stayed steady on land

You said you could stay in that moment forever

And in my head I still am

Kissing you in the dark

Under the stars
