《Dungeon Core Abi》Chapter 115: Return

I hate this wall already.
Granted, what I've already completed looks good, but it's taking me forever. After trying many different ways to change more than one brick at a time into mythril, I gave up.
I don't get it. I'm even Godly and shit now, but I still can't seem to do what I want to do. What I want to do is chill the hell out for a bit, but I can't seem to stop myself from working. I keep going, brick by brick, complaining all the way up until dinner time every single day.
After this morning's debacle, I'll have to keep track of it myself seeing as how Amber is off timekeeping duty and is at work stuffing her face.
Why is her job better than mine?
Did I just sign myself up for the shit jobs without realising or something? Even spawning monsters in the forest would be better than this. Maybe I should get Me to switch with me? No, that would be cruel. This job blows so hard that I'd definitely feel cruel delegating it to him. Plus, I'm just over 2/5 of the way there. I'll be at the gatehouse soon.
I'd like to finish the wall myself and not just because I want the credit for building. Once the feature is complete, it won't need anyone to run or maintain it. Not unless we're attacked again, that is. It also falls under the jurisdiction of Hana and Mira which means I won't have to delegate anyone to man it. The Commanders have that covered and all I've got to do is finish turning stone to mythril. The project should take me another week to complete if I keep going strong and don't let myself get distracted.
Which is easier said than done around here.
Inside the restaurant, the triplets are all seated and so is Kolena. That means I don't have to go get her myself this time. The little luxuries. It's a good job I got to enjoy that feeling as less than 60 seconds after sitting down, I'm called away.
Come quick.
I can't even enjoy a Gods-damn meal these days.
Porting to the forest in a huff, I'm met by not only Me, but a new elven unit which I didn't even notice arriving. Although, there's so many people that come and go nowadays that I barely check my overview anymore. Unless they're relatively strong, that is. The unit may be new to us, but their commander isn't. I remember his face, but his name is gone and is nowhere to be found in my memory.
"Welcome back. I can't help but notice you've returned quite quickly. Is there something else we can help you with?" For the life in me I can't remember the bloody elf's name and try my best to conversate without actually needing to use it. Feeling foolish, I try my best not to look that way as I smile politely at the elven leader.

"Thank you for seeing us so quickly, miss Dungeon Core," he bows.
Well, problems accrue fast around here so it's best to deal with them when they arise. Or at the least, delegate someone else to do whatever it is that needs doing if it's only a minor task. Unlike the wall...
"After informing our King of your battle against the human King as well as the demons, he wishes to hold an audience with you." The elven leader answers.
That sounds formal. Hang on. He's been home, spoke to their King and got back already? How fast are these elves?
Edwan has Space Mages with him so it's likely they teleported back to their home.
That's his name! I should have remembered because there are so many bloody Eds.
You couldn't remember his name? Why didn't you just ask?
Well, I... I didn't want to sound foolish.
When would that ever be different than any other time?
Don't be like that, Me.
Quite. Anyway, you should answer Edwan. He is waiting after all.
True, the elven leader - whose name I now remember, was still waiting for my reply.
"Erm... cool. When does he want that?" I heard Me's sigh in my mind before he muttered something about decorum. Good old Ed, however, was more lenient with me and ignored the fact that I answered like some country hick.
"He would like you to visit our home within the month."
"What? I can't visit your King," blurting out my answer, the elves are quite shocked by my reply. Almost as though I'm turning down their King's invitation, which I'm not. To be honest, I feel quite privileged. It's not everyday that the rulers of entire species want to get together to parley and shit with me. The only people that associate with me are out-right weirdos.
Hopefully this King won't fit that bill.
"Why not? Have we done something to offend you," Edwan's face sours.
"What? No. You guys helped a bunch. Also I'd love to meet your King, I just can't visit him myself."
"Why not?" I thought that my explanation was a little better that time around, but apparently not. Edwan still doesn't seem to understand why I can't just go visit his King. Then again, how would he? He isn't a Dungeon Core.
"You know that I'm a Dungeon Core, right?" Edwan nods, "So you know why I can't go then?" before shaking his head.
Damn elves. I'm not in the habit of telling people outside my family secrets about myself. Especially when myself is now a substantial dungeon that controls four major cities. One of which I created myself. That said, if I don't explain myself properly, Edwan might think I'm just being unreasonable or worse yet that I'm stupid.
"As far as we were aware, dungeons can't create bodies for themselves. Because you happen to possess one and we know nothing else about you, we had assumed you would be able to travel anywhere you liked." Before I can explain myself, Edwan explains himself before I get the chance to.

"If only. Listen, Ed. Dungeons do not have it easy. Let me tell you that now. Even myself, as unique as I am, am still bound to the system much the same as yourself. Only mine is a little... awkward," I chuckle.
"It took a long time to get this body," I then wonder how long it might take an average Dungeon Core to reach the level I'm at now before realising I'm already getting distracted. "That said. I can't just go anywhere. I'd like to and that's kind of the dream, but for the moment I'm only able to move around inside the Ishda province and even here I can't go everywhere."
Edwan looks a little bummed out at my response. Which is good in a way. Better that than an evil grin after just revealing one of my secrets to an elf I don't really know that well to save face.
I'm such an idiot.
"Don't look so sad though. I would truly like to meet with your King. Especially since my last meeting with royalty didn't go so well."
This time Edwan pales a little. I'm not saying that makes me happy, but it's nice that other actual people know how strong I am. When I was still a human I was just that Rogue. A best friend, a team member, but nothing special.
Now, I'm a level 63 Dungeon Core rocking two Godly titles. It's nice to be noticed. That said I don't want to be feared or looked at as a potential threat so I better ease the mood.
"Not that I go around killing Kings on a daily basis." That didn't work and Edwan raised an uneasy eyebrow in my direction.
"Listen, Edwan. I'm not the best with words. Try as I might, I always seem to put my foot in my mouth. What I'm trying to say is that we should be allies and I'd love to meet your king at a future date. One I just can't set yet."
The elven leader composes himself while coughing into his fist.
"Splendid. May I ask if you know when this date will be?" He asks a horrible question that I can't answer without more information.
"I'm not sure. How far away is your city? I mean, how long would it take to reach on foot from here?"
"On foot? That journey is a very treacherous one as you would have to pass the Korin mountains to the west. We would be happy to teleport you through with us." Edwan doesn't understand that if I don't own it, I can't go there. Infact, the only possible way for me to visit their lands is by purchasing my way there. Hence why I want to know how long the journey will take.
"Thank you, but I must respectfully decline. I have to make my own way there. It's a... personal matter." Why didn't I say that earlier? It would have saved me a bit of dignity.
Edwan seems a little upset that he can't persuade me to go with him, but that's just the way it has to be unfortunately. He's come all this way to arrange a meeting yet all he's going to leave with is an unspecified date for the future.
Poor guy. It's not his fault he has to deal with me.
"Hey, Edwan. You want to stay for the night? It is dinner time afterall. You could have a good meal, a nice rest and then head out tomorrow."
"Thank you, but this time I must decline. Your city is full of humans and our kind have never seen eye to eye."
"My city isn't like anything you've ever seen before and I'm telling you now, no one's going to give a rats ass that you're all elves. Not with all the other weirdos walking around anyway."
Edwan seems confused and I can't really blame him. It's not like I can sum up Varona in a few simple sentences. There's way too much strange shit going on behind the scenes to even know where to start. That said, the perfect starting point would be Eduine and Aura.
"You already know that I took Eduine in as you met him on your last visit. Although, I'm quite surprised he stayed in Varona rather than leaving with you. Either way, he's not the only elf that lives here and my humans don't care about species discrimination. It's not food for the soul after all."
"Eduine is a good elf and it's a real shame about what happened to Garten. To be honest though, mistress Dungeon Core, I was only using the humans to avoid this part of the conversation. I'm a little... worried about you."
What? That's not what I was expecting. It's fair enough though and I understand his reasoning. That doesn't stop me from moving everyone to Ali's however. Arriving in the middle of the room the elves take up arms immediately due to the sudden shift in location.
A few diners also do the same in retaliation to their sudden interruption. Until they see me that is and calmly sit back down before resuming their meals.
I wave at the party still waiting for me at our table and receive only confused stares from three out of the four women. Blondie is the only one happy at my arrival because to her eyes, I've brought friends. She's vibrating on the spot next to me staring a hole into Edwan.
The elves put down their weapons and everyone visibly calms down without me having to say a single word. I guess the peaceful vibrations emanating from my Dragons even work on elves.
It's a shame they don't work on demons though.

This Book
The author, Edward Faust is aware that “This Book” does not really describe what this book is about. We shall pretend that it is a meta artistic choice but the reality is that Mr. Faust is bad at coming up with titles, and since starting This Book back in 2015 as a NaNoWriMo project he could never come up with a good one. This Book’s genre is YA Supernatural, but that’s only as helpful as any genre tag (IE: not very) so I shall describe it further. This Book is primarily about reincarnation, but it also features mythical creatures such as angels (known here as Seraphs), demons, Byzantines, as well as homeschoolers. Two mythical homeschoolers in fact make up the main characters of this work, a pair of siblings named Grayson and Kish. They live in metro Atlanta in the year 2019 AD with their Aunt. On one particular day they are plunged into a rabbit hole of spiritual and metaphysical politics by the arrival of a mysterious one-eyed Green haired woman and strange humanoid creatures into their lives. That is where the story begins. Yes. This book can also be found at https://thisbook.home.blog/
