y/n pov
3 p.m.
you brought your books closer to your chest as you walked out of your classroom. making sure to not bump into anyone at any corner.
you remembered someones invite to the gym.
squeezing through everybody, a slight limp in your knee at every step.
"so where are we going?"
an arm slung around your shoulder sluggishly. the sudden impact almost made your knees buckled and you would have suffered your fate in that hallway then and there.
"where are you going!" you threw the question back. you didn't even need to look at the perpetrator to know it was your best friend.
"gym"
"then i am going to the gym!" you exclaimed.
yamaguchi was a little taken aback. he knew and you knew you only went to the gym when either tsukishima or him harassed you into going until no avail.
he gave you a weird look, but nonetheless you answered.
"curious"
"you're hooking up with someone from the volleyball team, aren't you?" yamaguchi guessed.
hearing that, your feet made friction with the floor and you had completely stopped walking.
"WHAT?" you pushed him off you, almost ramming him into a locker. in the process, you also looked around frantically to make sure no one else heard his big ass mouth.
to say the least, he was shocked by your rather violent reaction. but that didn't stop him from asking. he crossed his arm, biting his cheek.
"so who was it?"
"i'm not fucking anyone, tadashit"
"you are keeping something from me! miss
l/n!"
"i am not!" you lied straight through your teeth. you felt so see through, practically transparent. you started walking away, however he kept up with your slow speed, running right behind you.
"how the hell do you even come up with a conclusion like that?" you were mind blown.

yamaguchi cleared out his throat before speaking.
"first at all, i think everyone can tell by the way you're walking. secondly, only people who play volleyball wear the ics sweater"
you looked down, looking at both the same cream sweater and your weak legs, your thighs about to implode.
he could read your mind. he was your best friend after all.
and he had you caught red handed.
but that did not stop you from trying to defend yourself anyway.
"i would never even fuck one person on your volleyball team! not one crusty motherfucker!" you crossed your arms.
he smiled at you sweetly.
"was the dick good?"
"i am leaving!" you stormed off.
-
yamaguchi and you entered the gym 20 minutes early, and it seemed like no one else was inside.
except hinata and kageyama were already practicing in the gym, working on their quick attack that you kept hearing about. along with some bald senior, tanaka.
eyes darted to kageyama. the line of muscle across his thigh. lewd thoughts of the setter crossed your mind, sweat trickling down his forehead and his nimble hands-
"hi y/n!"
the orange hair in front of you almost startled you to death.
"oh, hi shoyo!" you smiled, hopefully not being caught staring at his partner.
however, he didn't reciprocate and suddenly a look of worry filled his face.
"y/n, look out!" you heard hinata say.
"wha-"
before you knew, a volleyball hit you right in the stomach, causing you to clutch your stomach and fall over backwards.
yamaguchi immediately burst out laughing, hinata looked like he saw a ghost. as you crashes to the floor, you heard the bald guy "sorry sorry!"
you accepted your fate and laid there on the floor.
"get up y/n" yamaguchi suggested.

"the floor is comfortable" you answered.
yamaguchi took your arm and tried to pull you up, as you attempted your knees shook violently before you fell back first right onto the floor.
"oww" you groaned.
"when your legs don't work like they used to before" hinata sung.
"sawarasenai-" yamaguchi joined in.
"GET OUT. BOTH OF YOU" you stated.
hinata scowled at you "someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed". yamaguchi and hinata ended up exiting the gym to get food. tanaka had ran after them and tried to say sorry to you one more time, but you weren't having it.
as you laid there on the shivering wooden floor, a voice spoke up.
"is the floor that comfortable?"
tilting up your head, you looked up at kageyama.
kageyama grabbed you by the waist and pulled you up, carrying you.
"tobio!" you screamed, before shutting yourself the fuck up so no one else could hear you.
you watched as your feet left the ground, dangling in the air. you kicked them to try and pry yourself out of his arms, you failed. in a panic, you wrapped both arms around his neck desperately, legs wrapped around his waist.
"what are you doing!" you whisper shouted, panicking in the crook of his neck.
"helping you, a dumbass can't walk properly"
"kageyama!" you felt unsecure and like you were about to fall over, right on top of him.
his hands slid to your back, arms tugging onto your waist. "better?"
you felt him walk forward, which to you was moving backwards. you almost stumbled in his arms again before he gently placed your entire body onto the stage.
"are you okay?" he tilted his head to look down at your thighs, shaking in their place.
a small smirk appeared on his lips before he leaned in close to you.
he reached underneath one of your knee caps, pulling them up and widening the space between your legs. you squeezed your thighs together.
"this is all your fault" you muttered, intending for it to be only audible to yourself but of course kageyama had to hear it.
"yeah?" kageyama laughed. "i know it is, and i'm fucking proud of it"
before you could respond to him, there was a small ruckus at the entrance of the gym, signalling his teammates were coming.
"watch your step, y/n" his fingertips left you, now eyeing you. you were between his arms that were supported by the stage.
you rolled your eyes, as usual.
he leaned in with his mouth right beside your ear.
"also, you look good in my sweater"
kageyama had pecked you sloppily on the cheek before he pulled away ducked down to grab the volleyball that was beside the stage. as all his teammates came in, he licked his lips and gave you a small smile before running off to practice his sets.
a butterfly in your stomach fluttered.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
