《Violet Eyes || Haikyuu!! Fanfiction ||》Chapter 39: First Date
Oikawa waited for the girl to arrive. For the very first time, the Great King is nervous on a date with Karasuno's assistant coach. Heck, he dated plenty of girls before but for some reason, he's nervous with Ayame and he can't think of any reason why.
Maybe the time she turned to demon mode unnerved him? That must be it.
Finally, Ayame arrived. Oikawa grinned when he saw her but his jaw dropped after he saw her outfit. She wore a sleeveless teal sundress with small frills on the skirt and her hair was let loose with a small braid at the back. She also wore shoes that matched her dress. In short, she's a combination of cute and beautiful and Oikawa was tongue-tied.
She rubbed her arm and looked at Seijoh's setter sheepishly "Oikawa-san, are you all right?"
He snapped from his trance and grinned widely "I'm all right. Ayame-chan. I didn't know you have an excellent taste" he told her.
"Honestly, Shimizu-san's the one who picked these clothes" she honestly replied "I have no fashion sense, after all"
(Flashback)
"Shimizu-san, please help me. I don't know what to wear in the date later!" Ayame asked the manager "I have no idea about matching clothes and Oikawa-san said I should wear something pleasant"
"Okay, I will help you, Ayame-chan" Shimizu said "Let's go to your house and look for some good ones. After that, I'll fix your hair"
"Thank you, Shimizu-san" she said.
(End)
"Oh...at least you look splendid" he smiled. She nodded meekly and Oikawa grabbed her hand and intertwined his fingers with hers. The two strolled to the park like a couple, with Oikawa grinning happily and Ayame acting normal but feeling awkward on the inside.
"Oh my gosh"
"They're so perfect to each other~"
"Ah~...kids these days..."
"Oh my, isn't that Oikawa-kun? Is she his girlfriend?"
"She's so lucky"
"I never considered myself lucky...It's because of the consequences that I have to deal this darn date..." she thought. She felt so awkward and inexperienced but heck, she really wished that people would stop jumping to conclusions and the humiliation will end.
He sensed her uneasiness and looked at her "What's the matter, Ayame?"
She looked at him and shook her head. She's so quiet, he thought. She must be feeling forced to go on a date. Judging from her uneasiness and expression, this must be her first date.

"This is my first date" she said, as if confirming his thoughts. He suddenly felt guilty for coming up with the deal. Heck, he even wondered why that idea entered his mind. She's still a first year, for goodness sake, and he's already a third year. Iwaizume nearly beat the crap outta him after he learned about the deal the setter made and he forced him to promise that he must never do something stupid or else...well, you get the idea. He decided to keep the date to the minimum, like NO kissing, just holding hands, stuff like that.
"Well, then...Are you hungry?" he asked. She shook her head but her stomach made a dying whale sound, and her face turned red in embarrassment.
"So, this must how Tadashi-kun felt when his stomach suddenly rumbled...so embarrassing..." she thought. Girls who heard her stomach rumble snickered. Ayame's face burned bright red and nearly cried in embarrassment.
"H-Hey, hey, Ayame, don't cry!" Oikawa told her, slightly panicking that "he" made her cry.
Ayame shook her head "I-I'm fine, Oikawa-san...I guess, I really am hungry..." she sheepishly answered.
Oikawa made small chuckle and held her hand "There's a café nearby. Let's eat there, shall we?" she nodded and followed him.
*Café*
"So, what's your order, Ayame-chan?" Oikawa asked her. Ayame was staring at the dark chocolate cake at the menu list with a longing look. Seijoh's setter smiled and said to the waitress.
"A slice of dark chocolate cake and a black forest, please" he flirtingly said, winking at the waitress. She blushed and smiled back at him, jotting down his order. Oikawa led the girl to an empty table and they sat down.
"Earlier..." she started "How did you know I want a dark chocolate?"
He nearly doubled over in laughter at her obliviousness of her own self "You were staring at it longingly so I thought that you like it. It was pretty obvious" he chuckled.
"Is that so?" she muttered "I'm pretty easy to read, huh?"
"Not really..." he casually said, leaning forward "You're honestly pretty hard to read when you're focused on volleyball. You're so calm and focused until...well, our team won" he answered, feeling a little awkward for bringing the subject up. She flinched a little and sighed.
"Oikawa-san, thank you for the compliment..." she replied "Of course, we lost because your team is better than us. Seijoh is a complete team after all and our team is a bit new since half of our regulars are first years and also I got crushed by pressure and stress and I failed to help the team" she admitted, not meeting his eye "But...I promise that we're not going to lose next time"

He flinched at the intensity of determination showed in her violet eyes. She's serious, no doubt, that they will get their revenge next time they will face again. She realized what she just did and looked away in embarrassment.
"S-Sorry, Oikawa-san! I-I didn't mean to do it!" she apologized, bowing her head. Seijoh's setter chuckled at her sudden personality change. She's different, a challenging girl, she is. Not mention, headstrong and determined, and he liked it.
"It's fine, it's fine. Don't apologize" he told her "I know...and we won't back down" he added, smirking.
She smiled but then it turned into a frown. He tilted his head in confusion and asked "What's wrong?"
"You forgot didn't you?" she mumbled, making him confuse even more "You nearly hit sensei and I with your serve during our practice match...and also, you haven't apologized to me or sensei...we saw each other a few times but you never did apologize..."
"Oi, if you still haven't apologized to that violet eyed girl, I'll hit your head with a ball 100 times!! Go apologize!!" Iwaizume once told/ordered him.
Iwaizume's words echoed in his head and he felt bad and rubbed his head "S-Sorry, I guess...I didn't know..."
She looked at him and smiled "Apology accepted, Oikawa-san! That's all I wanted to hear from you! After all, Shiratorizawa beat the crap out of you all in the quarterfinals" she added with a sadistic background.
"Geh! She's harsh!" he thought, after he heard her say the last part "But...All is forgiven?! How can she forgive me that easily?!" She saw his surprised expression and looked outside.
"I just don't like holding a grudge at someone" was her only reply. He stared at her after hearing her short reply. She's a forgive-and-forget type of person, too kind and too understanding in others mistakes. Karasuno is really lucky to have a girl like her, he thought, I wish she just joined Aoba Johsai instead.
Her phone suddenly beeped and she opened it. Her eyes widened at the length of messages she received from many people.
There were plenty of other messages but it was mostly from the Karasuno's volleyball club and she stifled a laugh. She replied some of their texts and put her phone down and waited patiently for the cake. After a few more minutes of waiting, the cakes were served and Ayame stared at it with sparkly eyes. Unknown to her, Oikawa pulled out his phone and took her picture and quickly hid his phone.
"Ano...Oikawa-san, I'll pay for my order. It's embarrassing" she told him pulling out her wallet but Oikawa put his hand on her hand to stop her.
"No, it's okay. My treat. It's our date after all and it's common courtesy for a guy to pay for the date. Don't think about it" he told her, smiling gently.
She beamed and bowed "Thank you!"
"Thank you for the food~!" they said. While watching her eat, he could see her savouring the taste in her mouth with a bright flowery background. He didn't tell her (and she didn't seem to notice) that he kept taking her pictures as she ate the cake happily. While she's eating the cake, she didn't notice that an icing smeared at the corner of her mouth and the setter chuckled lightly.
"What's so funny, Oikawa-san?" she asked.
"Pfft...nothing..." he smiled and he used his thumb to wipe away the icing. His thumb lightly brushed her lip and she stiffened at his actions. He showed his thumb with the icing in front of her face "There's an icing at the corner of your mouth"
"...Oh..."
Oikawa grinned and licked the icing on his thumb. Her face burned bright red and she covered it with both hands.
"Delicious" the setter said, making her face burn even brighter. She felt uneasy and she grabbed her purse. She gave Oikawa an apologetic look as she stood up.
"E-Excuse me...I'm going to the bathroom..."
"Oh, okay..." he nodded "Damn it, was that wrong?"
Ayame quickly went to the bathroom and closed the door. She felt guilty, for some reason. Everyone on the team is worried of her and she feared they can't concentrate well because of her. She gripped the sides of the sink as she thought of a way to make the team stop worrying over her. She looked at her phone...and smiled.

Fighting to be Kind in a Cultivation World
Aren't you tired of the typical cultivation story, where an isekai'd person comes into the world and becomes a brutal or selfish person? I know I am. So instead of being fully changed by the world, I want this protagonist to stick to their beliefs and help to change the world (and people) for the better. There will still be main character development and tests of those beliefs, but I want them to maintain that aspect. Brief Synopsis:American is thrown into a typical Xuanhuan cultivation world where the masses of the people are typically sacrificed for the abilities of the few. This is meant to be an alternate take on how protagonists approach these worlds. Main character comes into the world w/ scanning, healing, and monster taming abilities. The release schedule will begin on Dec 1st. The schedule is 2 chapters/week (Tue & Fri) at 11pm. Please like, comment, and follow, as that helps me to gauge interest in the series. Final note: I notice that many cultivation novels treat abuse or sexual assault as a throwaway tool to set a stage. I think the way it is normally done is both lazy and a disrespectful to victims. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve the way I've done it in this series, please let me know. I want to do this the right way. P.S. *Nudge, nudge* If you are looking for a sneak peek of up to 16 chapters ahead, check out my Patreon. :D
