First period started and it was the usual lecture. Yamaguchi was bored and Tsukishima was staring at the clouds. Ayame, as usual, was listening and earnestly taking notes but however, when her teacher's not looking, she's sketching at the last page of her notebook. Last week was their practice match against Nekoma and everyone was eager to get back to practice. After all, the Inter High Preliminaries are starting soon.
"Class dismissed" their teacher said and left. Club activities will start once the bell rang so they had to wait until it rang. The two players were bored and approached the young girl to watch her sketch. As usual, the two can't deny that her sketches are amazing as always.
"Excuse me, is Mizuki Ayame here?" Sugawara said, standing at the door. Once he saw her, he signaled Tsukishima that he wanted to speak to her. The megane nudged her to and told her that the third year's waiting for her. She approached him.
"Sugawara-san?"
"Ah, Ayame, can I ask you a favor?" he asked her. She nodded "Erm...remember the hand signals you helped me made up? Well, can you give this to our first year players and to Nishinoya and Kinoshita?"
"Sure, Suga-san"
"Thanks, and you can have the extra copy here. See ya!" he gave her the papers and went off. She inspected each paper and reviewed the hand signals. She went back to her where Tsukishima and Yamaguchi are waiting.
"Guys, Suga-san asked me to give this to you" and she gave them a copy each. The two looked at the paper and read it. "Hand signals?" Yamaguchi asked her and she nodded.
"Yes, Suga-san came up with the idea of the hand signals for our attack patterns and I helped him. Anyway, I better give this to Shoyo-kun and the others" she told them.

"You might get lost, Ayame" Tsukishima told her. Ayame shook her head "Don't worry, I won't get lost. I'll be back later" and with that, she left. A few seconds later, the freckled teen stood up.
"Ah, Tsukki, I'll be going outside to buy a drink" Yamaguchi said and left.
*Class 1-1*
"Excuse me, is Hinata Shoyo here?" Ayame asked. Hinata stood and quickly approached her with a questioning look on his face "Yes? What is it, Ayame?"
"Sugawara-san asked me to give you guys this" she explained, giving him a copy. Hinata's face lit up and looked at the hand signals "Oh, did you guys made these hand signals? Thank you, Ayame!"
Yamaguchi was watching her. Well, he was acting that he's not watching her or else he will be mistaken as a stalker. He would sneak a glance every so often and change his attention on another thing, like the Sakura tree on the ground. He was a little worried that some perverted idiot might mess with her. After all, Nekoma's libero told him that he must take care of her. After she's done explaining, she thanked Hinata and left to go to Kageyama and Yamaguchi, followed her.
"Eh? What is Yamaguchi doing?" Hinata thought after noticing the freckled teen following her.
*Class 1-3*
"Kageyama-kun, here. Sugawara-san asked me to give this to you" Ayame told him. Kageyama nodded and accepted the copy and read it for three minutes. After reading, he gave it back to her.
"Huh? Why are you giving this back? It's yours to keep" she told him.
"I memorized it" Kageyama answered. Ayame's jaw dropped and stared at him with awe.
"What?! Are you serious?! That's amazing, Kageyama-kun!!" Ayame praised him, her eyes sparkling in amazement, making Kageyama's face turned red from the compliment. It was rare that someone, especially a girl would give him a compliment in a straightforward way "O-osu!"

"Anyway, just keep the paper, Kageyama-kun" she gave it back to him and left again, with Yamaguchi following closely.
"Is he following her?" Kageyama thought but he quickly shrugged it off.
*Class 2-2*
"Kinoshita-san, Sugawara-san asked me to give this to you guys" Ayame told the second year.
"Is that so?" he said, accepting the paper "Thanks, Ayame"
Ayame lightly shrugged and she caught the sight of Haruiko, the second year she cussed weeks ago. Haruiko saw her and his eyes widened. He quickly ducked under his seat, making his classmates stare at him like he'd gone crazy, even Kinoshita turned to look at him.
"You know Haruiko? That idiot?" he asked, pointing at him. Ayame sighed and nodded "Long story"
*Class 2-3*
"Ano...is Nishinoya Yuu here?" Ayame said. Nishinoya saw her and grinningly approached her.
"Yuu-senpai, please read this okay?" she told him, giving him a copy. Nishinoya, being the assuming idiot he is, thought that it's a love confession and blushed beet red and nearly fainted.
"O-of course, Ayame-chan! A letter from you is worth reading for!!" he grinned. The violet eyed girl nodded, not knowing what he meant and left. The libero eagerly opened the paper but his hopes were crushed when he saw a list of hand signals instead of her confession. But still he was happy that the girl is making an effort to help the team.
"Hey, Nishinoya! Who's that girl earlier?" a boy asked him.
"Eh, she's Ayame-chan! Our beloved assistant coach!" he answered, beaming with pride.
"Damn, you're lucky, Noya! A cute girl managed to give you a love letter!" one boy told him. Nishinoya slumped and shook his head, indicating that it's not a love letter.
"Is that so? Oh well, lucky me! A cute girl like her is worth checking out!" a boy cheekily grinned, making a vein pop on Nishinoya's head and grabbed the taller boy's collar and glared at him in an intimidating way.
"You want to hit on our cute assistant coach~?" the libero glared at him, making the boy gulp in fear. Heck, Noya's shorter than him but his attitude's a lot bigger than he is "Lay a finger on her and you might regret it~"
"Crap!! Noya turned to beast mode!!"

Death By Protagonist
Donavan has made his living by wading through hundreds of stories in search of the quality few he and his firm believe to be worth publishing. After a strange twist of fate, he gets trapped inside the fantasy book of a particularly campy and amateur author. There he will have to navigate a world built on wish fulfillment, power fantasies, and fanservice in order to fix the story from the inside out if he ever wishes to leave. But can he bring himself to play the many roles necessary to manipulate and guide the characters to a satisfying conclusion? Authors Note: Death By Protagonist is meant to be simultaneously a satire of, and love letter to the isekai/portal fantasy genre. It both makes fun of and embraces many tropes of the genre such as harems, explicit sexual content, OP protagonists, and other things many people might think of as "trashy." If that doesn't sound like your thing, you've been warned, but I hope you'll give it a shot anyway. Update Schedule: Plan is to at least put out one new chapter every week, hopefully two.
