Infused with disease

The kind you can't cure

A mental anguish

That takes no prisoner

So I am a captive

A slave to my own thoughts

Fighting

I yank at my chains

Screaming through the bars

Wrists raw and throat sore

Can no one hear me?

How can't you see me?

Hiding

This disease I battle

While knowing I will lose

You can't see the symptoms

They're all internalised

And you buy my smile

Why?

It isn't at all convincing

How?

It's obvious I'm suffering

Blind

Deaf

Heartless

I don't understand

I'm at the end of my rope

But why?

Why am I still anticipating

For someone with an antidote

One by the grace of a miracle

That does not fear my darkness

One who is willing

To be beside them-self at my right

And grant me the joy of life
