Twilight's POV
This is it, this is the day. The day I get to meet the people who want to be my rider. I honestly am really excited, I hope when and if I get a rider they will be a good rider because if not they are gonna bite the dirt to hard they will need other people to get the dirt out.
"Nervous?" Asks Stormfly.
"Yeah but mostly excited, I never dreamed a day like this would come." I confess to her.
"Well don't be, I do know it can be a bit stressful but you'll get used to the feeling." She shrugs to me in a comforting tone.
"Do you know just how many are coming?" I ask breathlessly.
"Last I heard Astrid talking about it she said about 20." She tells me plainly like it's nothing. 20?! That's a big number, I don't know how well I will be able to handle it but I will try. All of a sudden however before I have time to respond to Stormfly the arena door flings open and Toothless waltzes in with Hiccup by his side. Toothless and Hiccup walk over to me and I manage to hear talking from behind the arena door and catch a gimps of other humans whose scents I do not recognize.
"Hey Twilight, the people who want to be your rider are here. We are going to let them in one at a time okay?" Hiccup asks me gently, trying to understand my response. I give a brief nod and look to the arena door. Hiccup walks over to the door and starts talking to the first contestant, while back here Toothless starts talking to me.
"So you're sure you're ready?" He asks me, he sounds kind of nervous.

"Of course, why do you keep asking me? It's not like I'm going to disappear." I ask him, I don't understand why he cares so much. But I guess I will maybe kind of disappear, I mean I still plan to get revenge on my family's killers.
"I know but we might see each other as often when you get a rider." He tells me sadly. Seeing him sad pulls my heartstrings so I nuzzle him.
"I won't be in here as often but I promise we will keep seeing each other. Just because I will have a rider doesn't mean I won't have time for you." I tell him softly. At this he beams, I love his smile. It makes me smile and I always feel happy when I see it. The arena door swings open and the first contestant walks in holding their head held high, this one looks like it's only here because it wants a fast dragon that will win it races. Oh boy. Well, here we go, the start of a new chapter in my life. Let's do this.
1 hour later...
Toothless's POV
Well it's been an hour and all of the contestants have gone. There were a total of 24 contestants but only 12 made it. The first challenge was to try and get close enough to either feed or scratch Twilight. Only half made it because Twilight had pretty high standards, but most of the one that didn't make it she clearly didn't trust or like. I understood, I felt the same way about those humans. The next challenge would be to find Twilight in a maze and pretend to free her from chains. She looks pretty tired but seems determined to keep going. I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to see who makes it next.

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

Prey No More
Imagine being given a second chance at life. Not only that but with a life you chose (sort of). This is exactly the situation that our character is in. He was once a Biology Graduate Student involved in a special program in Alaska studying Polar Bears. In an ironic twist of fate his life is ended by exactly that which he was trying to study. Now, in a new world, he refuses to be anything but the top of the food chain. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a story I began writing a year and a half ago and decided to shelf, I'm coming back to it now because I miss writing; however, I have not carved out any time specifically for this and, as of now, it will be something I do on the side for fun. Currently I have 9 chapters plus a prologue written; I'm going to be going through and editting it to be in a present tense (from past), as well as changing some of the story and grammar. Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading.
