《Reader x Toothless (how to train your dragon) Toothless x Reader》Mating Season

I woke up several times during the night because of odd dreams. Some were funny, some were fancy, and some were scary.
Groaning and ignoring the bright light attempting to penetrate my eyelids, i tried to fall back asleep.
My ears perked as something softly land next to me. It softly padded toward me and stood a few feet away. Too tired to truly care, i groaned and opened one eyelid to peer at the intruder.
It was just Toothless.
"Oh. It's just you. I thought it was someone important." I mumbled, closing my eye.
I heard a protesting "HUMPH" from him.
My brain, clearing from the grogy-ness of sleep was finally able to process what was going on.
TOOTHLESS WAS HERE!
"WAIT! You're here!" I roared excitedly.
"Yes. Yes. I'm here." He muttered, looking amused at my reaction.
Looking around, i didn't see his human anywhere.
"Toothless?" I asked.
"Yes?" he replied.
"Where is your human? You always have one with you to 'help you fly.'"
"Last night, after we left you, he had me fly home and worked all night to make me an awesome tail. He said that i should... Never mind. The point is, not I can spend more time with you without you getting defensive about humans."
"Awesome!!!" I cried excitedly.
"Um. Y/n?" Toothless asked shyly.
"Yes? I replied, turning to him with a sweet smile."
"Can I show you a special place?"
"Sure! Although if it's a human clan, you're going to be in trouble..." I said excitedly, but not joking about the threat at the end.
Walking up a slightly sharp incline, Toothless led me out of the lake area.
This might just be hormones from mating season talking, but Toothless didn't seem like such a bad guy.

I mean, other than him kidnapping me, letting the humans try to kill me, and being a bit... Eccentric.
Walking together peacefully, the forest greenery seemed almost serene.
Hearing a flutter, I turned to look at the source. It was a bird with feathers that resembled fire. It's head was black at the top and faded into a fiery red at the base of it's head. It's shoulders continued the fiery red, fading like a flame into orange and yellow at the tip of the tail feathers. The fading colors didn't all fade at the same place though. They faded at different intervals, creating the magnificent look of fire.
Nudging toothless, I pointed my snout excitedly at the bird.
"Toothless! Toothless! Look! I found a really cool bird!!!" I whisper shouted to him.
Whispering back, toothless replied, "Yeah, that bird is one of the rare species on this island. It has a nest at the Western edge, overlooking the ocean."
"SO COOL!" I roared, forgetting to be quiet.
The bird startled and lifted off into the air in a flurry. Two feathers floated down to the ground, an impact not to be heard. IN all their beauty, they were like a wildfire. Beautiful, raging, wild, and best of all... Free.
Picking up the feather, toothless carefully inspected it. Picking the better of the two, he turned to me.
"I think this feather represents you perfectly." He said, flashing me a sly grin.
I lowered my head as he carefully tucked the feather behind my ear, tucking it in between two scales to keep it from falling away.
I grinned at him as he tucked the other feather in between a few scales on his forearm.
"What are you going to do with that one?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"Give it to my human for him to see. We've never gotten one of the bird's feathers before." He replied like it was the most casual thing in the world.
If he was going to give it to his human for it to be inspected, what did it mean when he gave it to me?
Starting to walk again, slightly irritated from not knowing, I turned to toothless.
"Which way?"
Nodding his head in the direction, and walking to take the lead, Toothless started heading to the place where he was taking me.
"You know, you're really quiet." I remarked.
"Yeah, well, since the humans can't understand us, I stay quiet most of the time. I sometimes forget that you can understand me and I should reply." He responded shyly, not looking at me. "Sorry if that bugs you."
"Not at all!" I said, trying to be nice even though it did kind of bug me.
I bumped him in the hip with my hip in a friendly gesture, trying to put some meaning behind my empty words.
The rest of the walk was an empty silence. It stayed that way until we reached our destination.
We arrived at a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean. Here, the ocean crashed on the side of the cliff with beautiful ferocity. A calm wind blew in my face, ruffling the feather behind my ear. I closed my eyes, taking in all the wonderful senses. The sound of the waves, the scent of salt water, the taste of freedom, and the presence of Toothless next to me. This was the picture perfect moment.
I looked at Toothless with a sideways glance. He was staring at me. Catching his eye, I held his gaze. One heartbeat, two heartbeats, three. Eye contact held between us. Four, five, six heartbeats. Seven heartbeats. After holding his gaze for seven heartbeats, I couldn't do it anymore, and shyly looked away.
"This is beautiful. Thank you Toothless." I mumbled quietly.
"Not as beautiful as you." I heard him faintly mumble back.
Hearing him, I turned to him surprised.
"Oh Oden's beard. I said that out loud didn't i." He said turning away.
Walking away from the cliff, he stumbled embarrassingly.
"I don't think I heard you correctly." I playfully said. "Mind repeating that for me?"
"No."
Come on. Tell me. I don't think I heard you correctly."
Grinning, I playfully attempted to get him to repeat it as we walked.
You know... Maybe Toothless wasn't such a bad dude after all.

Making a difference
Harry Potter FanFiction: Hannah Longbottom liked to watch the people who entered the Wizarding World via the small, walled courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron for a reason: During her not so long life, she had learned about three different boys who had entered the Wizarding World alone, leaving behind a life so horrible she could barely imagine. One of them, who became a friend of hers, had gone through great hardships to become a hero, one of the greatest wizards the Wizarding World had ever seen. One of them, who had been her teacher, had become cold and bitter, and no one had ever recognized what amazing talents he could have offered, until it had been too late. One of them, the monster she had helped to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts, had become the most dreaded, most dangerous, and most deadly man Great Britain had ever seen, and yet it could have all been different, if someone had just tried to make that difference early enough in that life, if he had not boarded the train to Hogwarts all alone. Already posted at Devianart and AO3, I've included a link to RoyalRoad on my profiles there.
