《The boy down the river》Chapter 12

(Marco's POV)
"You really think that.....?" I muttered softly, "Of course I do!" Reed responded quietly. I turned his head to face me and placed my lips on his.
"Marco this isn't the time, we're about to go into a big, creepy forest." Reed mumbled while lightly pushing me away. "Ah sorry! I wasn't thinking." I said, awkwardly.
Suddenly I heard a couple shouts, "Hey lovebirds! We're coming with you!" "I guess we have to walk with the losers...." "Oh cheer up, at least the fire didn't get to our rooms before the whole building got burnt down." "Wait up! I can't run with this leg!" Yuni, Inni, Mark, Luke and Parker.
Parker had a burn-mark on his right leg, it looked painful. "First off, who are you all? Secondly the blondie tried to drown Marco." Reed said, coldly. His eyes suddenly turning lifeless. "What?! I didn't do that!" Luke and Parker yelled together, "We may hate these dorks but we wouldn't go that far!" Reed pinched the bridge of his nose, evidently annoyed. "No.... Not you. The girl." Mark, Luke and Parker's eyes widened. "W-what? You. You can't be..... serious.... right......?" Luke muttered, seemingly confused and scared of Yuni. "I'm sorry....." Yuni mumbled.
"Why is your leg burned?"
Silence.
"Do you miss the orphanage?" Inni asked.
I thought for a few moments.
The orphanage was where I met my friends, any good memories that wasn't made by Reed was made in those stone walls. I was given a home when my mother left me because she was going to be executed by the king for being what she was.
But then again.
I was put through years of torture by Miss Travis. The past was behind me and I didn't ever want to go through even glancing at the hellhole I used to call, 'Home'. I was going to find a new life, with Reed. We could run away. Away from the tyranny of Miss Travis.

"No."
"Good, because you'll never have too see it again. It burned down to the ground. I don't know what happened exactly, but a siren-hunter came in and then left, right before the place burned down. So no more orphanage, I guess. I don't think anyone else escaped the flames. I mean maybe someone did." Inni said, bluntly.
Someone.
Someone.
Miss Travis?
'Maybe. But nobody saw her escape. There was no way she could get out. Right?' I thought to myself.
"Well there probably isn't any other than us." I concluded, finalising my decision.
"Now are we going or not?" I said as I walked into the forest following the river again. Everyone followed. I looked at Reed as if to say, 'Can we leave the riverside?' and he nodded in approval. Soon we must have gotten lost, the woods got darker and darker.
"Can we rest already dork? Have you even noticed that we've lost the river now? We're tired and need rest." Mark yelled from behind. I gave him a death stare and he gave me one back, "I think we should, Marco." I heard Reed say. "Ok fine then." I agreed, irritated and not losing eye-contact with Mark. "Does anyone have anything like a tent?" I asked, trying to get my mind off of how our enemies were tagging along with us, and of course how Yuni almost killed me....

Re: Dragonize
After an unexpected turn of events, Drew must now survive in a world full of challenges with life-or-death stakes. Gone are the days when the biggest problems to face were awkward small-talk at physics department luncheons or mountains of lab work; this former physicist is now adrift in an unfamiliar land without any equipment. Now, Drew's only tool (if it can be called that) is a System, which provides constant reminders of all of the things that are still out of reach for a low-level being who's just arrived in a new world. Luckily, Drew has one powerful asset when taking on the challenges of this new world: surviving violent conflict is a lot easier when you have the power of a dragon at your disposal. Still, Drew has always considered violence a last resort. Why turn to fists (or claws) when a bit of quiet consideration might expose a better path forward? Maybe a life of quiet contemplation is still within reach for this former academic researcher. ...Or maybe not. It probably won't be a life of bloodless pacifism. Additional information for those who wish to calibrate their expectations (I'm adding this based on a few comments I received from readers who feel that the story is not what they expected from a dragon-themed story): Re: Dragonize is not a power fantasy -- or at least, it's not intended to be one. Re: Dragonize is a progression fantasy starting with a protagonist who must start at the bottom (or close to it), and work gradually upwards, making incremental progress with plenty of setbacks along the way. The protagonist, as someone coming from the world of academia, tends to be cautious, methodical, and contemplative. As such, expect this story to contain more than a few digressions as the main character takes the time to pontificate on a variety of topics ranging from Newtonian physics and horology to the nature of existence and the ethical dilemmas associated with being an obligate carnivore.

Mc's not part of the story
WARNING: Early chapters are shitty. Mikael was a graduating student when a global summoning transported him inside a forest full of monsters. Inside this place, he met people that would help him reach his goal: to return back on Earth and meet his family. (note: this is my first novel. If you see any errors just tell me and I'll edit it. English is my second language so expect some mistakes. Please support me if you like the story) (Rate one-star only, since this story deserves it.)

The Nomad: A Starforged ttrpg Playthrough
Life in The Forge is rarely fun, least of all when you've got an AI that wants to turn you over to the authorities, a stolen ship full of creepy cult shit, and you've pissed off the only guy in the Devil's Helix who doesn't want you dead through sheer incompetence. Unfortunately for Ash, worst courier in the helix, that's his day-to-day. When he gets offered an opportunity to get back into this boss's good graces (and finally get something decent to eat), Ash jumps at the chance, even if that means getting tangled back up with figures he'd rather leave in the past. This is a solo play log of Shawn Tomkin's ttrpg Starforged, as such, even I don't know what's going to happen next! Enjoy the ride!
