《Entangled: Playfully》Epilogue

"I'm sorry. Please forgive me."

I pleaded to my four-year-old son who was sitting inside his Avengers tent house. I came back from work and found him sulking in there.

"No, mom. You are late. You promised we'll cook together tonight. You are never late but on this important day, you are. Even dad is late."

Travis complained while flipping the pages of his cartoon coloring book, still not looking at me. He had acquired a sudden interest in cooking so to motivate him more Daniel and I decided to arrange a family cooking night.

"I really wanted to come early but I got stuck in the traffic and I'm just fifteen minutes late champ. Please forgive me." I said as put myself half inside the tent.

This time he looked at me. "Are you telling the truth?" He asked suspiciously.

"Mamma won't lie to you," I said sincerely, bobbing my head up and down.

He put aside his book and completely faced me, smiling just like his dad. "I believe you, mom. I forgive you."

"Thank you, Travi boy." I grinned, tickling his belly. He started laughing out hard as he was too ticklish. I pulled him out of the tent and bent myself on knees to come to his level.

"We still have a lot of time to cook. So, have decided what you wanna eat?" I asked.

"Yes. I want tacos and rice." He said while counting on his fingers.

"What will you eat rice with? You surely wouldn't want to eat plain rice."

His mouth turned in 'o' shape then he frowned. "I don't know. I forgot to think about it."

I chuckled. "It's okay. Mom will cook something. Now, your dad is going to arrive soon, so, go and bring fresh vegetables from the garden then we'll cook together." I said referring to the kitchen garden my dad helped to set up in the side lawn of the house.

"Yay!" I laughed as Travis sprinted out of the room shouting in excitement.

"Martha please help him pick up ripped vegetables," I said to the part-time babysitter of Travis who was standing with us all the time. She was a college student who needed a part-time job. I needed a babysitter for Travis only when I go out for work otherwise I stayed with him all time. I didn't want him to grow in the presence of a nanny.

Talking about my life, it had been wonderful since I married to Daniel. Daniel's family house was now our home. We shifted here when Travis turned one as Daniel wanted our son to grow up here as he wanted him to stay connected to the roots of the family, and also he was done with leaving the house empty. The house was located in the outskirts of the city so the surrounding was quiet and peaceful. It also helped us to keep our son away from the media and bustling city life.

Daniel proved himself to be the best dad and husband. He was perfect in every sense. He shared equal responsibility to take care of Travis. He gave appropriate time to Travis. But being naughty and playful, Daniel's favorite pass time with Travis was to make him cry. Yes, when Travis was little, Daniel used to tease him by keeping his toys out of reach, in front of his eyes until he cried then he would give the toys back to him, hushing him while pleading him to stop crying. Daniel was even teaching him new pranks every day. This is Daniel for you. Playful, naughty, and lively.

When I was staying home, taking care of my family I learned cooking as it was the necessity of our home. Even Daniel learned cooking. Though he was busy with work, he learned enough to survive in the crisis. Whereas, I was a pro now. Why wouldn't I be? I learned it dearly and patiently for three years.

I started working just six months back when I felt Travis was old enough to be left with the babysitter. Until then, I gave my full attention to my son and my husband. I still didn't want to go back to work as my first priority was my family but Daniel insisted that I shouldn't give up on my career and social life so I took his advice and again went for modeling. I only signed one project at a time and had signed only a few projects as I didn't want Travis to think that I wasn't spending enough time with him.

Evan was again my manager. Though he was helping to manage Trish's studio too, he didn't hesitate to work with me again. Trish and Evan together were a strong team, they spread the beauty studio business and opened two more new studios. Also, working together strengthened their bond and now they were a married couple. They got married two years ago.

"Mom, see, daddy bought me cookies. Dad is the best."

I was yanked out of my thoughts by the voice of Travis who was running to me, waving the box of cookies in his hands. He stopped near my legs, showing me the box, his eyes gleaming with excitement. I sighed.

"Daniel how many times do I have to remind you not to bribe him with toys or whatever. A simple verbal apology is enough. You're spoiling him." I scowled.

"At least give me a welcome kiss before scolding me. I deserve love too." He kissed my cheek. "How's my wife?" He asked, showing his full set of teeth.

I pushed him softly by placing my hands on his chest. "Your wife is mad at you."

"Come on, Eloi. I don't want our son to be upset because of us. We both promised him that we'll cook together and we both got late." He reasoned out.

"But Daniel—"

"You know Eloi, our son knows that we work and I don't want him to think that we don't give time to him. If bribing him with cookies brings a smile on his face then so be it. And don't worry, I won't let him grow as a spoiled kid. We won't."

"Mom, Dad, can I eat one?"

Our eyes lowered at our son who was looking at us with hopeful eyes. Daniel crouched down to his eye level.

"You can eat it after dinner, okay little burrito?"

"Dad, don't call me a burrito. I'm a big boy now." Travis wrinkled his face.

"You're not. You're not even of my height yet. So, you're still a little burrito for me."

"Mom!" Travis cried. "You told me that I'm a big boy now. Tell dad too."

God, Daniel! He will never learn. His teasing will never stop.

"Travis your dad is just teasing you, okay? You indeed are a big boy now." I said politely, ruffling his short, black hair.

"Eloi, don't lie—" I kicked Daniel's foot before he could speak further, throwing daggers at him through my eyes.

"Travis go and put the box in the kitchen." Travis nodded his head and kissed his father's cheek before running to the kitchen. No matter how much Daniel teases him, he loves his dad to eternity.

"Does anyone know how much I'm being harassed in this house?" He scowled then shook his head. "My own wife uses violence on me. Poor Daniel." He sighed.

"If this poor, drama queen Daniel doesn't want to be harassed anymore then he must go to the room, freshen up, change and come down to start cooking dinner." I flashed a tight-lipped smile.

"I see that you too still have your work clothes on. Let's freshen up together." He, in a swift motion, lifted me up in bridal style and marched towards our room.

"Daniel put me down. Travis could see us and Martha—"

"I have already sent Martha home and Travis won't mind." Despite my struggles, he took me to the room in his arms. We did freshen up and changed but separately as doing it together would have taken too much time and we didn't have plenty as our son was waiting for us.

We then went to the kitchen to cook dinner. Obviously, I couldn't let Travis near the stove or knife so I gave him work of passing me the spices jar and mixing of vegetables in the bowl. He was super enthusiastic. After the ingredients were prepared, Daniel placed Travis on his shoulder so he could watch the food being cooked. Travis sat on Daniel's lap while having dinner. After dinner, three of us cleaned the dishes together. I was placing the spices jars back in the cabinet when Travis poked my leg with his tiny finger.

"Mom, cookie." Travis extended the box for me to open it.

"Let me open it for you." Daniel took the box and opened it and gave him one cookie and took out one for himself. I rolled my eyes. He's such a kid!

"It's time for the night walk," Travis exclaimed excitedly, munching his cookie.

"Take the lead. Mom and dad are just behind you." As soon as Daniel said those words Travis dashed out of the kitchen.

Daniel then came to me. "Want a bite?" He asked, showing me the cookie.

"No, I don't feel like eating sweet right now," I said. Daniel sighed and placed the cookie on the plate that was placed on the counter. Shaking my head, I turned to put the jar in the drawer but jerked when Daniel snaked his arms around my waist from the back.

He rested his chin on my shoulder. "How was your day?" Placing the jar on the counter, I leaned back on his shoulder.

"Tiring," I mumbled. "Before taking the break, I never felt tired of shooting even for hours but now it's different. Many things have changed and I've got new competitors. New models have arrived in the industry."

He turned me to face him. "You'll get used to it. And about the competition, where's the fun in doing work without any competition? Competition keeps us alive and motivated."

"Such a motivator." I chuckled. "So, how was your day?"

"Good. Had a successful meeting with Lily Charles, daughter of Philip Charles one of our clients. He couldn't attend the meeting as he had to attend another urgent meeting so he sent his daughter. And...you know..." He gave me a mischievous smile which made me raise my eyebrows.

"...she was very beautiful." He completed his sentence with a grin. Here he goes with the teasing.

Crossing my arms, I gave him a blank look. "I don't care about her looks. What matters to me is... If she tried to make a move on you. So, did she?"

"What if she did?"

"Then I'll break her legs and will show her your wedding ring to remind her that you're married," I flashed a sweet smile.

"What if she's physically stronger than you?"

"I don't do daily workout for nothing. And why are being her lawyer? Did she cast some magical spell on you? Tell me did she make a move on you?" I threw an accusing glare at him.

He first laughed then pulled me to him. "O don't know if she tried to make a move on me or not and I don't even care because there's only one woman that has all my attention and love. She's my wife. Besides, I can't risk being with some other woman because my wife will grill me alive."

I chuckled, hitting his chest. "You are so dramatic."

"That's why you love me." He kissed the corner of my mouth.

"Yeah, that's why I love you."

He surprised me by landing his lips on mine. And almost immediately, I responded to his kiss but got alarmed when he deepened the kiss.

"Daniel, Travis will see us."

"He won't. He's outside." Saying that he deepened the kiss, running his hands under my shirt.

"Dad, mom, where are you?" The loud voice of Travis broke our kiss. I laughed at Daniel's pouting face.

"Let's go." I tugged his wrist and dragged him out into the lawn.

"Dad, see what I found!" Travis came running to us with a leaf in his hand.

"What is it?" I enquired.

"A caterpillar. See, it's so big." His face lit up as he watched the caterpillar resting on the leaf. There was a proud feeling on his face as if he did a great discovery.

I cringed when that little bug made a move. "Travis put it down," I said, wrinkling my face. I wasn't scared of bugs they gave me creepy feels.

"Hey, buddy. Why don't you give your mamma a closer look at the caterpillar? Daniel smirked while looking at me that turned my eyes wide. I knew what was he up to.

"Daniel. No." I said firmly.

"Daniel. Yes." He grinned and picked up Travis in his arms.

I took a step back then another and another until I was running fast with my boys following me, laughing loudly.

This is how my life turned since I had been with Daniel. There was no single day we hadn't laughed until our stomach hurt. Every day turned cheerful and exciting.

He changed my perception to view life. He painted my dull, boring, and colorless life with the brush of his playfulness.

Both of my boys were my life now. They became the reason for my endless happiness.

My life turned more vibrant when Daniel got me playfully entangled with him.
