Last night after Nate came out of the office with Brody, his mood was a complete one eighty from when he had entered. Stepping out he peered into the kitchen where I sat with Chloe, he gave me a stern silent look to come which I did immediately. When I reached Nate, he maneuvered me in front of his body shielding me from Brody and Brett as he ushered me up the stairs without uttering a single word.
In fact other then mumbling 'nothing' when I asked what happened he didn't speak all night. Even when we were tucked away securely in our room he remained mute as he paced back and forth across the carpeted floor.
"Jamie" Nate called out, his voice almost bursting my ear drums as it pulled me from reliving the night prior. As his hand grazed against my thigh my head snapped in his direction taking in his distressed face and overly grown straggly beard.
Peering across the car at him, he still held that dangerous glimmer in his recently darkened eyes. "Sorry" I muttered unsure of what to say before bowing my head back down to stare at my bony knee caps. To be honest I just wanted to avoid his eyes, their was something in them that taunted me, something so familiar it startled me.
"Why are you apologizing?" He whispered though his tone was soft he seemed pained by my sudden action. "You're afraid of me" he hypothesized with a slight squeeze on my leg. I shook my head though the only images flashing through my mind were him smashing his fist into the gray wall of his bedroom, tossing his shoes roughly across the room, and flinging our belongings from the dresser. The guy that I saw last night was a spitting image of the way Nate was when I met him...simply volitile.
Gulping I peeked through the corner of my eye at him as he slowly put his car into park outside of my school. Instead of pulling up to the front like he would normally do he waited outside on the grass wanting us to talk without pressure. "If I just knew what happened I would be able to understand" I reasoned in a hushed tone as he sighed deeply running his fingers through his messy blonde hair at a quickened speed.
"If you knew Jamie we probably wouldn't be sitting here" he explained turning his gaze out of the windshield and taking note of all the human and werewolf teenagers walking about. "I know you should know, you deserve to know I just... I can't imagine my life without you" he admitted his words crushing my heart the instant they left his mouth.
Hopping half way over the center console I placed my left hand above his shoulder and my right on top of his hand on his leg. "You never have to" I promised as I rubbed his knuckles assuringly. There is nothing else that I could know about Nate that could tear me from him or make me think of him in a different light. I accept him for who he is even the screwed up actions that he did to get us here. Nate seemed shocked by my vow as he jerked his body to the side knocking my hands down.
Without being gentle his gripped the sides of my face unknowingly squeezing my jaw as he pressed his lips to mine hungrily. The kiss was almost panicked as he tried to convince himself and his wolf that what I said was true. I kissed him back instantly, pushing my lips harder against his matching his speed as well as aggression.

"Knock knock" a voice rang as my door was pulled open. Even though I knew the culprit was Austin I was still shocked by his abrupt entrance causing me to yank back from Nate and fall back into my seat. "I'm sorry to interrupt your little shindig but you are growing a crowd" he added nodding his head to the unmated Wolves who were seemingly getting off at my make out session with Nate.
"Oh" I chirped embarrassingly noting that some of these perverts were in my classes. If Austin hadn't stopped us we could have given them a real show if you know what I mean. At least he's a real friend, thank God for Austin.
"They are like wild animals!" He hissed out jokingly of course as he glared around to keep the men's eyes off of me and the women's eyes from Nate.
Surprisingly Nate let out a small tiny chuckle at Austin's pun and though it only lasted three seconds I was pleased the two were getting along. 'After school I'm going to tell you everything' Nate vowed to my wolf causing my lips to stretch into a bright smile while his grin was much more forced and insecure. But I knew he would feel better when it was all out in the open. The last thing he needed to do was sorry about how I would react. Shyly Nate reached over and tucked my stray hairs behind my ear revealing my marking before glaring out of the window at what he thought was his competition.
After a quick goodbye I jumped from the car only to be pulled under Austin's arm as if shielding me from the watching eyes. "Yo Austin" Nate called sternly from behind us causing us both to look back at his large being that hung over the top of his car. "Hands off" he warned and on cue his hands fell from me and snapped back to his side. With a sly wink he climbed back into his car and pulled away leaving me with many unanswered questions.
"He's a possessive one, huh?" Austin muttered under his breath as he hiked up his backpack by tugging on the strings.
"He's not" I defended biting down lightly on my cheeks as he rolled his brown orbs dramatically letting me know he wasn't buying my story. "He just wants people to know I'm his" I added hoping that if I clarifyed for him he would understand. "It's different when you're a wolf" I stated knowing I was rambling but not able to shut my mouth.
"Well then I guess we better brand his ass with your initials" he shrugged carelessly causing me to let out a small giggle. Yeah right. "Hey Jamie," he gulped after a moment of silence. "I heard about Carter being with Heather and-"
"How did you hear?" I questioned quickly causing the four words to come out sounding like one due to my lack of pausing.
"Heather" he informed me scrunching up his face as he tried to read my expression. "She's still my cousin though I'm pretty sure she's pissed at me for staying friends with you" he pouted causing his forehead to wrinkle temporarily. I never really thought of how Austin fit into all of this. Taking my side held consequences for him too. In being a good friend and supporting my relationship with Nate he put himself in an awkward position within his family. "It was pretty shitty of them."
"Yeah well I don't really care" I huffed causing his entire body to freeze as he spun toward me. His chocolate eyes held mine intensely as I also stopped next to him in an attempt to figure out why my words were so shocking to him.

"You don't care?" Austin asked skeptically as he crossed his tanned arms over his chest in a stubborn and doubtful manor. "How could you just not care?" He pried as his squated jaw tensed.
"I just don't. I wanted Carter to be happy the only reason it bothers me is because he could have been with anyone else yet he goes with the girl that he knows will hurt Nate, that's messed up" I rambled knowing that my point sounded idiotic even as I said it. Of course Carter wanted to hurt Nate, it was tit for tat with those two. "And don't get me started about him sleeping with Lynn... Again."
"What do you mean again?!" He gasped his hand darting out and grabbing my forearm before I could walk away. Nodding my head rapidly his mouth hung open "he's an ass hole Jamie and so is she!"
"You should warn your cousin before he marks her because all he is up to is revenge" I voiced dominately as I clenched my teeth tightly becoming angry as I thought about what Lynn had said "all you're doing is playing ping pong with Carter and Nate." As her words rushed through my mind the familiar hate flowed threw me. No longer will I feel empathy for Carter as far as I'm concerned, he's dead to me.

Things with Heather and I were starting to fall into an unsual pattern. Of course to the outsider we looked like your typical overly happy mated couple who were always laughing and holding hands. However, it said outsider were to pay close enough attention they would realize that we never kissed nor confessed our undying love for one another. Yet they were all too stupid to realize that so our plan is running smoothly.
A soft knock came on Heather's door causing her to bring up on the bed and toss her latest issue of Seventeen magazine on the floor. "Come here!" she hissed as I scrambled to my feet leaving my comfy spot on the couch behind. As I climbed onto the bed she took a hold of my hand and entwined our fingers while laying her head against my arm. "Come in" she called out politely, geez I wish she was that nice to me.
A second later the door opened as I flashed a bright smile to whoever was coming in though that disappeared quickly when Austin stepped in. "Aww don't you two look adorable" he gushed fakely as I yanked my arm out from underneath Heather causing her brown eyes to turn into narrow slits as they met mine.
"How was she today? Did she say anything?" I pushed like an impatient child on Christmas. Sighing he closed the door behind him and leaned against the frame.
"Jamie misses you" he confessed with a sly half smile due to my excitement I ignored his creepy self and focused on my heart which was now beating faster and faster "but she really loves Nate. However," he rose his voice a bit "when they got to school they looked like they were having some deep discussion about something and at lunch when I asked her-"
"Get to it!" Heather hissed clearly having her panties in a knot. I can sense jealousy from a mile away and Heather is spewing with it. She scowled at her cousin no longer wanting to hear about Jamie but instead her precious mate. I could seriously barf.
"Calm your tits" Austin demanded causing me to chuckle. At least someone else tells the wicked witch how it is. "Last night, your dad" he looked to me and nodded his head "called Nate into the office and apparently they had some intense discussion which led to Nate freaking out and tearing their room apart."
"Tearing his room apart" I growled. His room isn't Jamie's safe haven, it's like a dungeon. His actions just keep proving who he is and what he will do. He gets mad at me and steals my mate, he's pissed at my dad he destroys shit. He's the Hulk 2.0 and it's not a good thing.
"Can you two stop interrupting me?!" Austin shrieked becoming increasingly annoyed with Heather and I and rightfully so. Instead of agreeing or nodding my head I just rolled my eyes. "Any way," she continued with a loud breathy huff "Jamie thinks they were talking about you two and he got pissed. I guess earlier when Trent told them he got all quiet and he even dug his claws into her" he informed me causing my body to jump up and for my wolf to go into protector mode. How could Jamie even think she loves a man like that?! A man who has constantly hurts her because of his selfish ways and careless behavior.
"Sit down" Heather ordered as she grabbed my wrist and pulled me back toward the bed though I couldn't relax and opted for standing at the post. "Our plan is working" she beamed shaking my arm to knock some sense into me. "If she misses you and he's flipping about us then we will have them back in no time!" Heather squealed looking absolutely pleased for the first time as she showed off her pearly white teeth. Her smile was so wide I could see the pinks of her gums as she clasped her hands together tight enough to make her knuckles go white.
Turning back to Austin I took note of the cheeky grin he was sporting as well. "She really misses me?" I whispered needing to hear it once again, needing to know that their was hope for Jamie and I.
"Absolutely" he promised with a raise of his dark eyebrows. His one word sent my wolf into a state of bliss. This is really going to happen. I'm really going to get her back.
