The interaction with Heather's parents was awkward to say the least. It wasn't that it was them that made me uncomfortable, actually they were pretty cool. It was the fact that they kept referring to our hook up as an 'incident' and saying that she was better off with out Nate. In most situations I would agree but without her I had no chance of getting Jamie back.
Heather led me through the hallways off her pack house introducing me to random wolves who were scattered throughout the building. Even though we were holding hands for appearances of course she didn't claim me as her second chance mate. Instead she would say 'random person this is Carter, Carter this is random person' and then said persons eyes would fall to our entwined fingers. To which she would trace her thumb on my skin in a loving manor. This was her way of making it a point without lying.
Heather pushed open a door revealing an overly girly room, and I thought Jamie's purple room was bad. Practically everything in this room was pink. She had a king size bed in the middle that had a sheer white canopy draped over it as if she was some thirteen year old girl or a freaking Disney princess. Regardless of the appearance it was still a nice room, it was way bigger then the room I had been staying in at the Watson house and my room from my old pack house.
I followed in behind her dropping my bags onto the tan carpet as I turned back to her. Sighing she walked to the bed and flopped face first on to it in the most dramatic way possible. "I hope this doesn't last long" she murmured into her comforter. Geez, as if pretending to date me was such a chore...
"Me too, you have really sweaty hands" I mumbled, wiping my hands against my jeans in the process. Instantly she flipped over and pushed herself upwards to where her elbows supported her weight. Her mouth was propped open slightly as a pink blush dominated her face. She looked like a chameleon blending in with her surroundings.
"That was you" she fought back. "I was nervous!" She the squealed letting go of her fake persona. I couldn't control the laughter that escaped my mouth at her expense. Honestly, it felt good to laugh. It was nice. "If you're done being a bully now I am tired and want to go to bed."
As she said this our eyes met awkwardly. We never talked about our sleeping arrangements and as I peered around the room I realized the floor was my new bed. "Pillow" I murmured gesturing my head toward her bed. Her eyebrows pulled together but reluctantly she grabbed two of her large pillows and tossed them at me. The top one embroidered with HC in hot pink letters. This girl is too much.
"You don't have to sleep on the floor" she stated though it sounded more of a forced question. Avoiding my gaze she began digging through her drawers.
"It's fine" I assured her as I kicked off my shoes and placed them messily never the dresser. Glancing back at me she flashed me a weak insecure smile as she let her bitchy facade fall slightly.
"I'm going to change" she blurted as she ran off to the far left side of the room and opened a door. I'm assuming that's the bathroom. I positioned my pillows at the foot of her bed as I laid back against them. Surprisingly the floor wasn't so bad, it was hard yet the carpet provided a slight cushion.

Heather had been in the bathroom for at least ten minutes by this point. Honestly I think she was just trying to buy time to avoid any awkwardness that could occur. Slowly she pushed back the sliding door as she walked out. It only took me about a minute to change into basketball shorts, and I had opted for keeping my shirt on. So by the time she exited the bathroom I appeared fast asleep on the floor, and I wasn't far off.
Slowly she crept around me as she shut off the light and then climbed into her expensive looking bed. I thought I was home free until I heard "Carter" her voice barely above a whisper. I groaned in response only to be greeted by the slight squeaking of her bed as she tried to get comfortable. "Do you ever wonder what would happen if we never slept together?" Now she had my attention as my eyes snapped open. "I mean what it would be like with Jamie..."
"A bunch of times" I admitted sheepishly. "I picture her sleeping in my bed, kissing my neck to wake me up in the morning, laughing at all my corny jokes..." I trailed off as my voice let out a small pitiful whimper. "I've even imagined our children" I stated. I can't believe I just said that to Heather
Clark of all people.
She remained silent as she took in what I said probably thinking I was the biggest wuss in the world. To be honest, I didn't even care anymore. "I've thought about it too" she spoke up through a sniffle and I know her heartfelt tears were on the rise. "That day...when he looked at Jamie... I want him to look at me like that" Heather admitted sadly. I automatically knew the day in question, the day Jamie confessed her love to him.
Unable to handle her cries I hopped up and manuvered through the dark until my knees smacked against the leather frame of her bed. Her whimpers ceased as she awaited what would happen next. Without thought I sat on the bed next to her and wrapped my arm over her shoulder, tugging her into me. "It sucks" I stated showing her I wasn't judging her for breaking down. Lord knows I've done it hundreds of times.
She sniffled again as she relaxed against my chest. "Do you really think this was all my fault?" She asked quietly her voice filled with concern. I guess there was more to Heather then I imagined. Maybe she isn't just a completely spoiled brat.
"No" I assured her as I stroked my thumb against her back. "The only thing you were guilty off was looking too good to resist" I joked causing her to giggle in almost a cute way.
"Thanks Carter" Heather whispered as I rested my head back against her pillow allowing my body to melt into the softness of her memory foam bed.

I woke up feeling completely refreshed. No longer did I feel stressed about helping Carter, it was clear he had made his choice to move on in what way he could and I was happy for him. I opened my eyes taking in a strong tan chest that instantly had me smiling. Peering up I stared at Nate's handsome face as he slept peacefully holding me tightly in his arms.
Last night when I had woken up I half expected Nate to be upset. I thought he would hold it against me for hurting when Carter moved on. However, he was sweeter than ever before. He looked like he aged ten years in those few hours that I slept though. Under his eyes held dark bags that appeared almost sunken in from a mixture of lack of sleep and worry. His forehead had wrinkle lines etched across it letting me know he was probably scowling half the time. Luckily, after our talk last night and his sleep he's looking like his normal perfect sexy self.

After hearing that I was fully prepared to move on with him, his whole aura changed. My skin was still tingling from all of the tiny pecks he planted along every inch of flesh. Last night proved what I had been thinking, I could always count on Nate.
My stomach rumbled pulling me from my mental worshiping. I peeked up nervously surprised that my loud tummy didn't wake him only to become slightly grateful. "Nate" I murmured as he groaned absentmindedly. "I'm going to get some food" I informed him as he stretched out his body, pointing his toes to the extent they were now hanging over the edge of the bed. He draped his arms around me even tighter as he planted a kiss on the corner of my mouth. Due to his eyes still being shut he missed his target but it was cute none the less.
I squirmed out of his hold watching his sleepy features turn into a small pout from my absence which only caused my heart to flip. Quickly I rummaged through the drawers and tossed on a Captain America shirt and a pair of gray yoga pants. Hearing my stomach and wolf protest for food I headed for the door.

"Good morning Jamie" Brody called while he entered the kitchen breaking me from my talk with Annabelle and all of the other pack pups. "Hi kids" he grinned as he maneuvered toward the coffee maker.
The group of about twenty young kids said random hellos as I helped Veronica, a pack omega clean up from the delicious breakfast we had made. Usually I would hide up in Nate's room- my room until everyone was gone. I was in constant fear of being judged due to the fact that most of the people here knew about the delicacy of the situation. Today was different though, today I didn't have to worry about what to say if anyone was to ask about Carter. Today I could tell them we've both moved on.
"Come on guys lets get going we don't want to be late" Veronica stated ushering the kids out of the room but not before all of them hugged me. It was surreal when they would call me Luna, I loved it.
"They're cute huh?" Brody questioned causing me to jump and spin back around, I forgot he was even here. He lifted his eyebrows at my movement but continued to sip on his coffee none the less. I nodded my head as I finished loading up the dish washer. "I remember when Carter and Brett were that small" he added intentionally causing me to gulp. "Chloe and Nate too" he whispered as an after thought.
"Pancake?" I asked awkwardly in an attempt to change the subject. I clutched the plastic spatula tightly as I lifted the food into the air hopefully. He nodded his head from side to side.
"Carter always loved pancakes. Chocolate chip were his favorite" Brody noted boldy trying to push me to the edge, and succeeding. Slowly he pursed up his lips as I met his familiar coffee colored orbs. The two of us locked eyes silently challenging one another. "Listen Jamie" he sighed dropping his gaze to the stove as he focused on the red tea pot.
I let out a deep breath cutting him off before he could speak. "I know what you are going to say" I murmured though I wasn't sure exactly what he would say I had an idea. "It's done, okay? Carter moved on too" I informed him even though I suspected Brett already told him that. I was trying not to be mean to Brody, he was a really nice guy but he was stepping over the line here. I know he's trying to be a good father but Carter and I have both moved on, he should respect that.
He snickered in response for the first time not being pleasant with me. "If you truly believe that then Nate has brain washed you" he spat coldly causing me to let out an aggravated growl. He flashed me a pointed look as if he wanted to say more but he didn't. Becoming frustrated he laid down his mug causing the black coffee to spill on the counter before he walked out.
Why is it so difficult for people to actually comprehend that I love Nate? It's not just because he marked me, that's why my wolf loves him. Of course it strengthens the feelings but I am madly in love with Nathaniel Ryder end of story.

'Get up!' My wolf ordered causing me to instantly jump straight up in my bed. I glanced to the side and Jamie wasn't there. I briefly remember her leaving the bed earlier but now that I feel her anger growing I need to find her- fast.
'Where is she?' I asked him as I pushed myself from the bed and yanked on a pair of gray cotton pants. I didn't bother with a shirt or fixing my hair instead I took off done the stairs. I could have just asked Jamie where she was instead of going through my wolf who probably didn't have any clue. But, I was honestly a little scared to know the answer.
'Downstairs' he informed me, his voice sharp as he took on her feelings. The house was relatively quiet minus the fact of tv's on in the distance. That was ruined when I started charging down the steps, my feet thumping loudly against the wood. I inhaled deeply to catch her scent as I gripped the banister and slide against the ground to take a sharp turn.
I jogged into the kitchen instantly spotting her straight dark hair as she reached over the counter and pushed two slices of bread into the toaster. Glancing over her shoulder, Jamie flashed me a bright smile that had her eyes twinkling. My muscles relaxed as I shuffled my feet until I was pressed perfectly up against her backside. Leaning down I buried my face into her neck and the hair hat laid against it. "Good morning" I murmured causing her to shudder as I laced my arms over her waist.
"Good morning" she chirped spinning around in my arms so she could face me fully. Now it was her turn to comfort herself as she laid her cold cheeks against my warm pecks. "I wanted to surprise you with breakfast" she croaked against my brawny skin.
"I'm sorry" I whispered lifting up her chin and looking into her beautiful sapphire eyes that held nothing but love in this moment. "What had you upset this morning?" I pried using the word upset in place of angry. Her lips instantly turned down causing worry lines to wrap around her mouth.
"It's nothing" she lied dismissively as she shifted her gaze to the air just to avoid mine. Was this about Carter? Did he try to talk to her? Or maybe she found out who he slept with? The toaster popped up which made her turn back quickly to remove the bread. Saved by the bell well pop really. "I talked to Trent this morning" she changed the subject swiftly.
"Oh?" I replied having lack of a better response.
I stepped back from her as I moved across the kitchen and poured myself a cup of coffee. As I leaned back on the counter I watched her smear grape jelly across the toast. I could get use to this every morning. "Yeah... He was saying that since our dinner plans got ruined yesterday that we should come there for lunch..." She trailed. My body immdietaly jerked up straight as I now stared at her hardly trying to figure out what angle she was getting out. Was this all a plan to see Carter? Is that what she wanted? "He said Carter moved out yesterday" she whimpered. If I didn't know better I could say she was worried about him since the only obvious place he would go would be here and he's not here.
"Where is he?" I pried as she screwed the top back on the jar taking longer then necessary to do so. Her small shoulders lifted slightly as she shrugged and exhaled to quietly. "Okay" I agreed sensing she wanted to see her family considering she hasn't really seen them without a problem arising with Carter in the mean time.
Spinning around she handed me a plate which held eggs and bacon along with the toast. "There's pancakes too" I leaned down pecking her maple flavored lips. As I went to stand back up and break the lock our lips had, she kissed me harder almost as if she was trying to assure herself of something.
"Mmm" I licked my lips as she dropped back to her feet no longer stretching to kiss me. Her cheeks began to become splotchy as different shades of red dominated them. "Jamie" I purred as she peeked up at me. "Just so you know...I'm way stronger then Captain America" I joked gesturing my head down to her shirt. She glanced down as her lips formed into a perfectly flirtatious smirk.
"You're hotter too" she winked. I know what I'm doing after breakfast. Or who rather.

My name is Alyssa Gray, and by the time you finish reading this, I'll be dead. ________________________________ A few warnings and things to note: -I've put up the tramatising content tag due to a lot of mentions on death, dying, illness, and a mother who tends to be rather cruel. I know that I take a perspective that many will strongly disagree with, and I'm okay with that. Just be warned that this isn't lighthearted stuff. This is real, and death is real, and this part streaches beyond the fiction into reality. -I'm going to say a minor spoiler, but I don't want it to take you unaware because it is something to be aware of. At one point, my MC attempts suicide and fails. It's a very violent scene and I will put up the gore tag after writing this, and it's also just really depressing. If this will be triggering, you need to be aware of this before you read it. -This is a christian book. It may go against some of your beliefs. I hope that you can read and comment anyway even if some of it does not sit well with you. Credits for the cover go to the user 'Media in Sanity'. Your help and assitance has meant so much to me, God bless you in your writing and your endevours. A proud member of WriTE. I've promised to finish this fiction and update it at least once a month. My schedule is very irregular, and I'm working on that, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that this book stays out there. I'm not ending it until it's done.
