It wasn't that I was nervous to see Heather actually I thought this was going to be rather awkward. After our initial meeting when she was sneaking out of Carter's bedroom we had only seen each other two more times. Once being the next day when she and Carter thought it would be a good idea to try to explain their actions to me. All that did was piss me off more especially considering they got together to plan this out, who knows what else they did?
The second time was when I brought a girl home, I was planning on living out my wildest fantasies on the human yet Heather felt my lust and came to blow up the party. Once again only making me hate her more.
That was over three months ago and since that day Heather had been trying to stay in contact with me but I pushed her away again. I thought why should I settle for her I already feel as though I can't trust her. I truly believed that I would be able to set up a solid life with Carter's mate. However, I never could have planned for someone stubborn like Jamie, she was unpredictable, feisty, and downright perfect in every way.
What am I thinking?! I need to stop thinking about Jamie. She wants Carter she's made that pretty clear considering he's joining her pack and they will live happily ever after. I didn't even realize how angry I was about this until I noticed my knuckles turning white as I gripped the steering wheel with enough force to break it. 'Ready?' I asked my wolf who just grunted in response. He wasn't too keen on the idea of Heather either. His heart belonged to Jamie's wolf he made sure to remind me of that over and over.
After another two minutes of sitting outside of Heather's packhouse, I stepped out of my car. I could feel everyone's eyes already focused on me like they knew who I was and they did. It wasn't every day that their Alpha's daughter was denied by another Alpha. I lifted my fist to knock on the door but before I could Heather yanked it open. An unhappy scowl was planted on her pink lips. Her warm brown hair laid straight above her shoulders letting me know she had cut it since the last time I saw her. Her rich brown eyes were cold as she stared at me hatefully. "Nathaniel Ryder" Heather spat causing me to smile from her harsh tone.

"Heather Clark" I responded confidently as she rolled her eyes dramatically like the drama queen she was.
"Are you here to tell me you marked someone else? Because I got the memo when I stopped feeling you" she informed me as she cocked her hands to her hips. A part of me felt bad for doing that to her. I knew all too well the feeling of being betrayed and feeling unwanted. I didn't feel bad enough to genuinely apologize though.
"That wasn't the purpose of my visit but it's true" I shrugged as if it didn't matter. "Don't be difficult, Heather" I almost ordered as she stepped to the side allowing me into her packhouse.
She was so unlike Jamie. I could tell Jamie to stop being difficult and she would toss insults right back at me. Heather, on the other hand, obeyed obediently.
We remained silent as she trotted through the large neatly kept house. I stayed close behind her as she led me down hallway after hallway. She abruptly stopped as she swung open a door and tugged me inside. I glanced around the pink bedroom taking in all of her belongings and her overly powering sweet scent. This was such a cliche of a female's bedroom. "Who was she?" Heather asked from behind me causing me to spin back toward her instantly regretting looking into her miserable eyes.
"Her name is Jamie" I whispered my heart aching from just saying her name. She nodded as she opened her mouth to speak but I cut her off "she's Carter's mate" I informed her as her eyes doubled in size.
"You marked his mate?!" Heather screamed clearly thinking I was wrong and once again jumping to defend Carter's untrustworthy ass.
"He fucked mine!" I roared dominantly as her nostrils flared at an immense speed. I could see I struck a nerve as she avoided contact and instead stared at her tan carpet as if it was the most interesting thing in the room. Seeing that I upset her I knew I had to make things right if I wanted to have her as my Luna. Scratch that I didn't want her as my mate- not even a little bit, I needed her.
"I'm sorry," I told her honestly as I stepped closer to her. "The reason I'm here is that I want to give us a try I want to see if we can move on from this," I told her actually feeling slightly nervous about her response. Truthfully this could go either way but as she crossed her thin arms over her chest I became less confident.

"You expect me to forget the fact that you denied me and then ignore that you've claimed another girl as your Luna?" She spat back rudely though I couldn't blame her, she had a point. There was something in her eyes though, a certain twinkle that made me know she was going to give in. She still wanted to be with me. I was Nathaniel Ryder after all.
"I know you can't forget the facts but, I'm asking you to try to work through them" I recited the sentence I had planned on my drive over here. Heather smiled brightly showing off her perfectly white teeth as she hugged onto my body without any further persuasion on my part. Well, that was easy.
I sighed to myself as I hugged her back trying my best not to cringe. I can't believe I'm really doing this. I knew I didn't want to be with Heather but I also knew Jamie deserved to be happy, and if being with Carter would give her that I was willing to let her go.

I was beginning to actually feel like a member of La Meute de La Lune Bleue only after a few short weeks Ironically, they all thought of me as some sort of hero or saving grace for getting Jamie back to them. Not to mention I think Trent genuinely likes me. Wyatt too for that matter but Trent was the one I wanted to impress. "Carter!" Lynn called as I heard her light footsteps trotting near mine and Jamie's room. God, that felt good to say.
"Come in" I called as I glanced toward the bathroom where Jamie was. "Oh hey," I murmured when I spotted my brother walking in the door and also Lynn checking him out without him knowing. "Thanks," I told her as she nodded with a smile before exiting the room doing my best not to tell her go back off because Brett was mated.
"Nice room you have here" Brett chuckled examining the purple bedding. I rolled my eyes which only made his laugh louder. "How is Jamie?" He asked looking concerned since the last time he saw her she was covered in blood.
"She's good. She won't go to school or see anyone other than her family, Wyatt and Lynn" I informed him my wolf instantly becoming angry thinking back to all the pain Nate put my mate through. "I keep telling her not to worry but it's making her self-conscious" I explained in more detail than necessary. I had an inkling Nate would ask Brett what we talked about so I wanted him to know the raw truth. I wanted him to feel guilty.
Just when I finished talking Jamie walked out from using the bathroom. "Hi Brett" she greeted him politely though I could tell she was nervous about why he was here. He smiled at her but didn't say anything as he examined the wound on her face all too obviously.
"So what's up?" I asked him forcing him to look back at me and away from the two markings Nate caused on her body.
"Umm," he scratched the back of his neck uneasily. 'It's about Nate' Brett spoke through our mind link as if asking for permission to involve her in more of his drama.
'It's okay go ahead' I told him she had a right to know whatever he was going to say.
"Nate is" he began glancing at Jamie quickly before changing his mind and looking at me instead "he's... He went to see Heather and she's going to become our-I mean my Luna" he rubbed his sweaty palms quickly against his pant legs. Once he finished he let out a nervous sigh as though he was glad to finally get that off of his chest.
"Good now he will leave us alone" I blurted heartlessly. He's Heather's problem now. "If only he could have done that instead of torturing Jamie" I added coldly as I walked toward her and pulled her into a hug. "Are you happy?" I asked her though I could feel she was torn, her wolf was probably hurt by the fact that Nate moved on from her quickly. Though that's just Nate hurting people is a necessity to him.
"Yeah" Jamie whispered as she wrapped her arms around my waist allowing my wolf full access to feel her heart begin to break.
