《A Promise Kept》Tour

The next time I look up we are back at the school and Ian is out front waiting for us. He has the same stoic expression on his face but his eyes look leery.
As we walk up the drawbridge I see the campus is doted with people. People much younger than me here.
"Where would you like to start?" Seth asks as we walk through the main part of campus to the courtyard we were at earlier. I see a door that catches my eye the door is surrounded by stained glass windows that depict many different flowers along the multicolored glass.
"that's as good a place as any." I say pointing toward the door. I just want this day to end, no more drama, no more surprises I'm not sure how much more I can take.
We walk toward it and enter a room that is flooded with light from the ceiling made of windows and plants everywhere, a greenhouse. The light flows through the colored glass and hits the boys painting them all different colors. I breath in the scent of the damp earth, flowers and plants. The peace and serenity I feel here is amazing, I just found my favorite part of the castle. But the technical speaking leader breaks the calmness that envelops me.
"This is the greenhouse where we learn about plants that can be used in a survival situation." Ian states.
What kind of things is this school preparing them for? "Why?"
Rhys and Ryan both have raised eyebrows. Ryan speaks up, "That confirms it!"
"Confirms what?" I ask
They ignore my questions and shoot looks back and forth between the four of them. I knew nothing about the school that should have been apparent from the start but this is seems deeper than not knowing survival skills.
"I know I am new to all of this and know nothing but I thought I was sent here to learn. So far I have only questions and more question add to the ones I showed up with this morning whenever one of you open your mouth. So someone needs to start explaining before I throw my hands up and I march out the front gates!" I am yelling by the end of my rant. So much anger that has yet to surface is boiling. I hit a low in Uncle's office today well I am about to blow the top off now.
I look around our group seeing that we have drawn the attention of people from the courtyard I calm down and ask in a quieter voice. "Why do we need to learn this and what do we do with our gifts?"
They hesitate to answer, I want to trust them but they are making it hard to do that with the amount of secrets they are keeping.
"We have to tell her something!" Rhys pleads from the rest of them.
Ryan follows his line of thought, "at least what we do here."

They both use their puppy eyes on Ian and Seth. Those two look at each other before looking back at the three of us.
"Ok we can tell her what we do just leave out the ummm...details until later." Seth says while Ian stares the twins down.
"We protect high profile clients or important people that have much to offer society, eventually." Ryan says "we have a group we work in." he looks around to see the reaction to this and to see if he can go further, I hope he can.
But it looks like nope with the warning look he is getting from two of the others. I walk closer to Seth and lean into his side wanting his arms around me. He looks down when I look up he looks desperate and lost. He wants to say more but I also feel that the entire group has to agree and I know one grumpy bear that doesn't and won't. he comforts me with a tight squeeze.
All of this feels a little weird because its like he know how much I can handle. I am also beginning to learn a little weird is normal and I guess for me too.
"Okay," I say slowly, "so you work in groups?" three of the four nod in unison.
"How are the groups decided?" I have to try at least.
"Honestly we don't know but Ian," they stop and look at him "....ok, Professor Byron might be able to tell you." Seth says but looks as if he has failed me. I don't think he fails often.
Ian stops and gets a look on his face as we exit the greenhouse and make our way to their next destination.
"Sorry but I have to go talk to the headmaster finish showing her around and I'll meet you at the car when you get done. Just message me if you get done early or don't want to finish today." Ian says as he rushes off to do the mysterious man's biding.
They take me to a range. I see all manners of weapons: bows, pistols, long-range rifles, plus many others that weren't traditional today. We make our way to the fist target. The table on the line has several sets of arrows and on a rack next to them a stand with long bows, short bows, and crossbows.
I always wanted to try one, I think while jumping up and down. I look at them while bouncing my way over to the rack of weapons. My finger on my nose trying to decide which one would be right for me. I picked a short bow and I bundle of arrows.
I made my way to the targets picking one that is about fifty yards away. I plant the arrows in front of my foot. The boys look at the weaponry then at me.
The gleam in Ryan's eye spoke to me on another level. His eyebrow cocked in challenge. I have to see what he is playing at. The idea if them letting loose is exciting.

"Why don't we make this interesting, sweetheart?"
I stand in front of him one hand on my hip the other holding the bow under my arm. a look that says 'I can't believe him' written all over my face. His challenge is fine but his nickname has to go.
"I'm all for this but there are conditions for when I kick your butt." I look at him with narrowed eyes, his turn wide for only a moment before the cocky façade drops back down.
"When I win I can call you any nickname I choose and you can't complain." He says as he makes his way to choose a bow.
I follow his movements as I digest his words; so arrogant now but only an hour ago he was tending his twin with more love and compassion than anyone I had seen before. I look to the younger twin and see his face full of brooding. These boys leave much to mystery and even more to speculation.
A touch to my shoulder startles me out of my musing and back to the challenge at hand. I look to see who or what I bumped, Ryan looking down on me.
I feel like a real girl with these boys, I have to look up to see their eyes. That is safety to me. A smile graces my face as I look into his eyes, such mischief. Something I can give right back.
"I'll hold my conditions for when I win." I spurt back at him.
"Alright sweet cheeks, if you say so." I roll my eyes at yet another nickname. That will stop when I win.
I love how he doubts my skills, just because I have never heard of this school that doesn't mean I slacked on my extra curricular activities. I never competed but I am quiet good. Time to get this 'challenge' underway.
"Ladies first", I gesture towards the target. His eyes flash with something before turning and taking stance in front of the circle.
As he adjust and extravagates each movement I face the others. The bond is barely there with the light shining behind them. I see a faint line between the boys and when I shield my eyes I see the brightest of the dim colors, green. Jealousy but it isn't directed at each other but at Ryan and the attention he is receiving.
Rhys stands there staring at us; his bond is bracketed by black, depression. It is from the earlier incident. I lay the bow on the table with the arrows. He comes first they come first before any silliness.
The feeling of walk away from one to the other is frightening. The cocky one is safe. Having to deal with emotions is something that hasn't happened for a while. The instant my arms wrap around his waist his go around mine. My head rest on his chest the beating of his heart so loud with my ear pressed against him. My hands run up and down his back in a soothing gesture. The hard muscles soften as minutes tick by. I lift my head to run my nose along his neck, what I can reach of it. To kiss him would brighten his mood I am sure.
But before I do a throat is cleared causing us to jump apart. I blush red and bow my head as I turn. Keeping my eyes down I only see an extra pair of feet but I know whom it is. He always ruins our fun first it was lunch then with my uncle and now my moment with Rhys.
"There is something the Headmaster requires of us." Completely ignoring me and the fact that he interrupted my helping Rhys, maybe he just wants me gone.
"I'll just go find my uncle then." Leaving past Ian, never picking my head up.
The mood between the boys shifts dramatically. Ian treatment of me is trying the others' patience. Their tense stances speak for themselves but added with the death glares that Ryan and Rhys shoot him it seems like he'll be getting the cold shoulder until he straightens up. I don't want the guys to turn on each other just because of me so its best if I take myself away from the situation.
I finally look up when I see the gray stones of the castle and see that I have reached the door of the turret. I sigh my first day and nothing could be worst than finding those that could make this bearable than to have them snatched away by an uncaring jerk.
The first flight of stairs comes into view when I hear a stampede following me quickly up the stairs. I am tired and I want to go home I can't take any more emotions or silent conversations I'm done for today.
I quicken my pace up the stairs and reach the second landing right as the others reach the first. Right as my hands goes out the door handle spins and opens inwardly. In the doorframe stands my uncle.
"I was just coming to find y'all." He says while looking behind me for the boys.
There is enough room to slip in between him and the open door I take it and enter the room before they can reach me. His office door is open but the pillows, where I had my earlier breakdown, call to me with their fluffy softness.
The space between it and I quickly disappear before the low deep voices at the door reach my ears. I snuggle in the pillows with one laying over me as a blanket while the voices travel across the room and into Uncle Byron's office. I can't tell if I'm completely hidden or not but I don't care I let my eyes drift shut and the darkness claims me.
