《devoid love • tate langdon》CHAPTER TWENTY: HOME INVASION

The door burst open and a man stood in my doorway. I felt myself freeze as I saw him smile. This smile. It wasn't ordinary. It was evil. It was demonic. I couldn't move. My limbs they were frozen, I couldn't even scream. In my head, I was screaming so much my lungs burned but on the outside, I was a rock. He seemed to like this. He took fast steps towards me and grabbed me by the arm, dragging me out of my room.
I seemed to snap out of it and right away tried to get his death grip on me. I struggled and flailed around but it didn't faze him in the slightest. He pulled me into the living room where I found two women standing in front of a kneeling Ally. I recognized one of them as Ally's patients. Bianca, I think. I glared at her as the man threw me next to my Aunt. I kept my head down, my hair partly covering my face. My eyes traveled up to meet the eyes of the man. His eyes looked me up and down and I shivered in disgust.
I then looked at Bianca She looked worse. Her hair was disheveled and messy. Her green eyes had heavy circles under them. Even her clothes were dirty and she had a spot of what looked like blood on the right side of her forehead. The other woman looked at the man.
"The transcript was very clear." She said simply as if all of this was normal. I glanced at Ally. She was staring at them, then the door. She turned to me. I shook my head.
"The nurses saw R Franklin." He replied to her. What were they talking about?
"He had nothing to hide." She said. The man looked at his watch.
"Twelve minutes." He said then looked up at us with a grin. "Then the fun begins." The other woman suddenly looked like she thought of something and went into a small bag that hung from her shoulders.
"I have a surprise for you guys." She said before pulling something out of the bag. It was an ashtray.
"No way," Bianca muttered.
"I got it on eBay."The woman said smugly.
"It's the one he used to bash Maria." Said the man in minor disbelief. What were they talking about?! I looked around with my eyes, looking for anything to use to defend myself. I saw a poker near the fireplace. It was too far away. Damn it.
"Let me see it." Bianca took the ashtray from, feeling it. She looked dazed. "Holy shit. You can feel the energy off this. Bitchin'." She handed it back to her and then the woman looked at us.
"Who goes first. Which one is Glady's?" She said. I growled in the back of my throat.
"Fuck you, you goddamn psycho's." I spat. The girl threw something at me and I quickly caught it and stood. I examined it to find it was a nurses outfit. I looked up at them with a putrid look. I held it up. "I'm not putting this on."
"You have to," Bianca said like it was obvious.
"It has to be perfect." The man said creepily. He took a step forward. "Take your clothes off." I looked at him, surprised, angry, and scared.

"What? No!" I yell. He grabbed my wrist. "Hey!" I struggled away but he was too strong. I kicked at him and scratched.
"Bianca please!" Ally yelled. "I know you don't want to do this!" Bianca glanced at her, only partly before squinting her face at her and turning away.
"Put it on or you will both be wearing uniforms!" The woman screamed and I stopped, looking at her. I glanced at Ally. She was shaking her head. I didn't want to, but I didn't want her to. I glared at the man, harshly pulling back my wrist. He took a few steps back, smirking in a vile way. I quickly got dressed, not wanting to show anything of mine to anyone. Once done I threw my clothes down on the ground.
"Satisfied?" I snarl. Bianca walked up to me and grabbed my arm, pulling me away from Ally and her sick friends. I glanced back at Ally who looked at me with desperate eyes. I struggled as she pulled me along. I growled and once out of view of the others, I kicked Bianca hard in the stomach and ran down the hall. I looked around for somewhere to hide. I ran into a closet and closed the door until there was only a crack. I looked out of it until feeling a hand wrap around my mouth and another spin me around and pin me against the wall. I screamed at first, using my hands to try and hit whoever had me.
"Ow! Can you stop that? I'm trying to help you." I heard a familiar say and I opened my eyes to see none other than Tate standing in front of me.
"Tate?" I whisper. "What are you doing here?" I was in shock. Why was he in my closet? "Why are you in my closet?" He shakes his head.
"Listen to me. I can only say this quickly." He says.
"They're trying to kill me and Ally," I say, a half sob escaping my throat.
"Tell them to go to the basement."
"What?"
"The basement. Just do it." He said then hid behind the door. Before I could register what he did, the door opened and Bianca took a hold of my bruised wrist and harshly pulled me out of the closet. I struggled but less, thinking about what Tate said. She started to pull me down the hall, muttering about how I was going to be represented or some shit. We finally came to a door and she shoved me into the bathroom, I stumbled and turned around to find her blocking the doorway. I stood taller.
"Turn on the water." She ordered. I wasn't having it.
"What's going on downstairs?" I ask. She rolls her eyes.
"Turn on the water." She repeats.
"What are they doing to my aunt!" I raise my voice.
"Jesus." She mutters.
"I'm gonna shit myself." I threaten. She looks scared.
"Not in the staging area!" She yells. Suddenly, the woman from before is in the doorway and looks around. She settles her eyes on Bianca.
"Are you kidding me? It's 10:57!" She says, hitting the door frame.
"Get in the tub," Bianca growls at me.
"Bianca, it's almost time! You need to put a person under the water for three minutes until they lose consciousness!" The woman yells. Get them to the basement.

"The brain begins to die from oxygen deprivation," I tell them and they turn to me.
"You think this is funny?" The woman says.
"What's funny is that you think you know this place but you don't," I say. "This isn't even the right tub." I roll my eyes to give a sense of truth.
"Second-floor bathroom." The woman tells me. She has a hesitant tone. "I've studied the photo's."
"The one he used is in the basement. We remodeled this whole bathroom." I say, using my head to motion around the bathroom. Wow, I'm better at lying then I thought. I felt as if I was shaking. They could kill me. Right now. They were planning to. That idea made me want to scream.
"You think I'm gonna fall for that?" She says.
"It's a grimy claw-foot with a chrome faucet. Go look." She turns to Bianca.
"Bianca! Can I ask you a question? Is it pillow talk?" She asks.
"I don't know what that means," Bianca replies quietly. The woman rolls her eyes.
"Of course you wouldn't." She mutters. She looks at me, glaring, sizing me up before looking at Bianca one more. "Go help downstairs."
"But-" Bianca gets cut off as the woman looks at her sharply.
"I said help downstairs! Jesus! Go!" She yells and Bianca rushes out. The woman looked at me once more and suddenly went forth and grabbed me by the arm. I wish they'd stop doing that. She pulls me out. We walk down the stairs, going around and coming to the basement door.
"Don't try anything." She hisses and we walk downstairs.
"It's down here. Around the corner." I say and walk downstairs into the dark basement. I swallow a lump down my throat. I try not to trip, as I can not see. I could feel her behind me and we finally came to the bottom. It's so dark. Darker than usual. She walked in front of me I slowly stalked backwards until my feet touched the stairs. I made a break for it. I rushed upstairs and slammed the door shut, locking it. I breathed heavily. I was surprised when I didn't hear footsteps and yelling and pounding of the door. I couldn't think of that at the moment though. I needed to find Ally. I ran into the living room to find Ally standing over the man with a poker.
"Fuck!" He yelled, touching his bleeding cheek. Ally turned around and spotted me.
"Callie! Oh god, help. Call the police!" She yelled.
"What the hell? Why aren't you dead?" The man yelled at me. "Fiona! I'm going to kill them now! This is bullshit!" The man screamed, getting to his knees. Ally didn't let it happen. She hit him hard against the face with the poker. He fell to the side, out cold. I didn't waste any time running up stairs and getting my phone, calling the police. I dialed 911, told them my address and then hung up. I slowly went back downstairs. Ally was still standing, her hands shaking with the poker in her hands.
"Ally?" I say quietly. I walk up to her slowly, with my hands up in front of me. She looked at me and I nodded, putting out my hand. "Give me the poker." Tears wet her eyes and I took the poker from her. I set it down and I hugged her. She buried her face into my shoulder, her shoulders shaking. I felt some tears in the corner of my eyes as well and I held them back. We pulled back and I looked down at the man on our floor. I felt like spitting on him.
"Did you call the police?" She asks and I nod. She then looks around. "What happened to the other two?" I looked around. I didn't know. I lead that one woman down to the basement just like Tate said. What did he do? I heard something upstairs and we both looked up quickly. My already fast breaths quickened. Ally straightened up, her normal brave demeanor coming back quickly. She picked the poker back up, no longer shaking. She went towards the stairs and I followed behind her.
We walked up slowly, our footsteps creaking on the wooden stairs. Finally, we came to the top and we turned a corner. We both gasped at what we saw. On the wall, was a red liquid running down the side. It was blood. Handprints littered the wall as if someone was dragging by. I raised a brow. What the hell happened up here?
The police arrived at our house soon and took the man away. I was offered a blanket but I denied it. It was supposed to help with shock and shit. I didn't need that. I needed answers. They still couldn't find the two other women. They had checked the basement but nothing was there. Nothing at all. She couldn't have left, it was locked from the outside. So how was she not there?
Right now I was sitting at the bottom of the stairs as Ally talked to a police officer. I had changed back into my clothes, throwing that disgusting nurses outfit in the trash. I shivered at the thought. What would have happened if Tate wasn't there? How had he gotten in? Well, he could have used the front door but without them noticing? It seemed impossible. I thought about this, staring at the floor. I knitted my brows, picking at my nail.
I felt someone sit next to me and I looked to see it was Ally. She turned to me, her eyes sad.
"The officers told me they still couldn't find Bianca and the other woman. They told me that they will be staying outside of the house for protection just in case they come back." She told me then sighed. "Are you alright? I know everything that just happened was horrible. I am so sorry this happened to you. something so horrible just after we move in." I shake my head.
"No, it's not your fault. I'm ok. Really, I am." I added after seeing her face. She nodded, looking down.
"Ok." She muttered, looking back at me with a small smile. "I need to fill out some paperwork and then they'll all leave." She got up, walking into the living room. I watched her leave then looked behind me. I looked at the basement door. I felt a wave of cold flow threw me and I shivered. That basement...something was wrong with it. I hoped I never found out what it was.
