《devoid love • tate langdon》CHAPTER NINETEEN: INFORMATION

I had woken up that morning in the covers of my bed alone. I blinked a bit, the sun shining threw my window. What had happened last night? It felt hazy but then everything came back like a slap in the face. I had tried to kill myself. I had went into the bathroom. I had almost done it. Why didn't I again? I then remembered the events following. Tate. Tate had come in and stopped me. I sat up with a smile. He asked me to be his girlfriend. I felt a warmness rise up my cheeks and I didn't move to make it go down.

"Callie!" I heard down stairs and my head snapped up. "Breakfast!" I sigh, getting out of bed and walking to my door. I was about to leave when I looked back at my room. I saw myself and Tate on the bed, smiling and laughing. A smile crept up my face and then I left my room. I needed to act normal in front of Ally. Something I new all too well how to do. I come downstairs and walk into the kitchen to find Ally sitting at the counter. I raise a brow until I know just who is standing in front of the oven. The maid with red hair to bright not to be dyed turned around and I saw her eyes. Or more like her one eye and other ghost eye. I still couldn't get over how it seemed to stare at me and look into my very soul. Ally turned to me.

"Morning, sweetie." She greets and I sit next to her.

"Good morning." I say sweetly but I eyed the maid. She gave me a small, crooked, smile then placed a plate in front of me. I looked down to see a plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. My favorite breakfast food.

"Moria made us a pancake breakfast. What do you say?" Ally asked. I ground my teeth a bit but hid it well. I looked up at the red haired women.

"Thank you." I say and she nods her head.

"You are welcome." She says. She then turned around and went back to the stove. I don't care how old or polite she is. She gave me a strange feeling I just couldn't wave off.

At school I, despite what she has done to me, have been talking to Leah. She had a pretty messed up face but covered it with a large bandage on the side of her face. Also wearing a hat, thinking her hair was going white. Everyday we talked for a while, sitting on the edge of an old empty pool people sometimes used for skateboarding or making out. I now sat there, my legs hanging over the ledge. School was boring and Leah agreed so we ditched. She had her head hanging low, staring at the bottom of the pool. I think of something.

"Does it hurt?" I ask and she glances at me. She sighs.

"Sometimes." She answers. "I have pills to make the pain go away though. Benadryl or some shit like that." We were silent once more. I thought of what happened. The darkness. The lights. Tate. The monster. I was still mad at Tate but I tried not to think of that. She then turned swiftly to me and I lifted a brow. "You saw it right. Please tell me you saw it so I don't think I'm going crazy." She had glasses on but I could tell she was worrying.

"I saw it too." I whisper. She let out a small gasp and looked away. I was secretly glad she said something. I thought I was crazy too. We both saw it. It wasn't Tate. It was something else. I looked at the pool as well. And I lived in the house that it occupied.

"What was it." She muttered to me. I shook my head.

"I don't know." I say. She suddenly took out something from her purse and I saw it was a cigarette. I rose a brow. "I thought you hated smoking?"

"I decided to take it up." She said. In that case.

"You have another one?" I ask and she pulls one out, handing it to me. She gets a lighter and lights both of ours. I take it to my mouth, having a drag and then exhaling. I then had a thought.

"You think maybe Tate got someone to dress up and attack you?" I ask.

"No. That thing...that thing wasn't human. I know. I can still feel it. I can feel it's breath over me. I can feel the claws running down my cheek." Leah says then raises a hand to face before quickly pulling away. She turned to me. "It was a monster."

"It was Tate."

"You saw it too." She snaps. "You know what I am talking about." She was right. I was trying to me excuses. I couldn't. She breathed out. "Do you believe in the devil?"

"No."

"I do. I've looked into his eyes."

Later that day I was home, sitting in the living room, a book in my hand. I had found it in the library in my school and it wasn't half bad. Ally had gotten a visit from Addie today while I was gone and she had called the police. Her and Constance were in the kitchen yelling about it now. Ally had told me to wait in the living and so I did, now reading. I could hear their voices echoing around the house. I wonder how Addie keeps getting into the house. Is there a secret way to sneak in? A trap door? She couldn't be coming in through the front door or the kitchen one. We'd notice if she had. Why would she want to come in anyway?

"Your going to die in there." Her voice said in my mind and I shook my head. Suddenly I heard a door close and a sigh. I look up to see Ally walking into the living room. I doggie page my book and place it on the coffee table in front of me. Ally sat next to me and looked at me with a sort of anger in her eyes.

"Constance needs to get control of her daughter. Not only is she disrupting up she could get hurt." She said and I nodded.

"Yeah." I tell her, not knowing what to say. She looked at me and chuckled a little.

"I hope you're liking it here." She said.

" I am." Truthfully, I had no idea what I felt about this place at all. Ever. She nods her head with a smile then stands.

"I have a session with a new patient. Your going to have to go to your room." She says and I sigh.

"Why!" I complain. She shakes her head.

"Up to your room. Watch TV or something for a while." I groan but comply, picking up my book and walking upstairs and to my room. I close the door, placing my book down and grabbing my phone before laying on my bed. I put both earphones in and put on a song. Digital Daggers: Devil Within the song was called. It was a slow song. Kind of creepy but I sang along with it.

"I made myself at home

In the cobwebs and the lies

I'm learning all your tricks

I can hurt you from inside

I made myself a promise

You would never see me cry

Til I make you

You'll never know what hit you

Won't see me closing in

I'm gonna make you suffer

This hell you put me in

I'm underneath your skin

The devil within

You'll never know what hit you."

I sigh. This song, in a way, kind of reflected my life. Just a bit when I thought about it. I pushed that away though, choosing to enjoy the music rather than worry. The songs kept changing to other ones on my playlist.

After some time I realize the session with the new patient it probably over and I can go down stairs again. If not I might hear some of the conversation. I hit pause and stand up, going over to my door. I slowly open it then hear for anything. Nothing. I smile then walk out and go down the stairs, tapping my fingers on the railing as I walked. When I got to the bottom though, I heard a soft chatter from Ally's office. I cursed to myself. I thought I could roam around. But...she might not be able to see me if I walk quietly. I looked back up the stairs then at the rest of the house. I chose to walk quietly.

I then started to walk around. While doing so, it was so quiet I kept hearing Ally talking. Was the patient still in there? I decided to check it out. I walk up to the office. The door was cracked open and I put my ear to the door, but away enough so if she were to get up she wouldn't see me.

"Hello Mrs. Langdon? It's Addison Rose, Tate's therapist." She says and I still. I peek into the room a bit and see a woman is behind my aunt on a sofa. I guess her patient really didn't leave. I listen more. "Mrs. Langdon, I'm calling because I can't treat your son anymore. I'd like to give you the number of another psychiatrist who I think could help him. Because your son has crossed a line with my daughter." He has not! I narrow my eyes even though I know she can't see me. She suddenly looks behind her and jumps when seeing the woman. "I thought you left."

"I got turned around. How many rooms are there here?" The woman said.

"Excuse me one second Mrs. Langdon." Ally says, then covers the bottom half of the phone with her hand.

"That's why I prefer my patients use the front door."

"I'm so tweaked out." She says.

"It's gonna get easier, Bianca. Staring down your fears, facing them head on, it's the best thing you can do." Ally says then nods. "You were brave today."

"Cool." The woman named Bianca says. Ally waves and then the women turns around. We lock eyes and I let out a small gasp. I run away from the door and up the stairs as fast I could before going into my room and closing the door. It wasn't that she scared me, it was I was afraid to get caught. I really hoped she hadn't said anything to Ally.

I was in my room for the rest of the day. I was looking over some homework I didn't want to do when I heard a knock on my front door. I rose a brow but left my bed and went over to the door. I see Ally there, holding a cupcake with purple frosting. The conversation about Tate before set me on edge at the sight of her.

"What do you want?" I say bitterly. She frowns a bit but replaces it with a smile.

"Hey. Our neighbor made us cupcakes. She insisted that you have one." She said then held up the cupcake. I looked at it in disgust.

"I'm good, thanks." I say.

"Um, ok. Want to watch a movie or something than?"

"Can't homework."

"Are you upset about something?" She asks. I almost laugh out loud in spite but I held it back.

"No." She doesn't look convinced.

"Ok. I'll leave the cupcake in the fridge if you want it later." She says. I nod then close the door. I wait for her feet to pad away before rolling my eyes and walking over to my bed. I sighed, sinking back into my pillows. If there was a picture next to the word "SUCKS" in the dictionary, it would be my situation right now.

It was night and I was reading my book. I was in the middle of a chapter when the doorbell rang. Ally could get it. I wasn't getting up. I continue to read when I hear yelling downstairs. I fold the page of my book before going over to my door. I continue to hear yelling and I want to know what is going on. I go over to the stairs and look down to see Ally yelling at the door and locking it.

"I'm going to get 911! Just stay there!" She said then turned to me.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"Where is your phone?" She asks.

"In my room. Why?" I ask.

"I need you to call 911." She says and I look at her like she's crazy.

"Why? What's going on? Who's at the door?" I start spouting out questions. Another loud knock on the door.

"He's coming!" A person yelled and I could feel my eyes widen. Ally looked at me.

"Room now! Lock the door and do not come out until I say so!" She yells and I nod, runnin up and to my room. I close the door, locking it. I was about to go over to me phone when I hear a loud bang on my door. I swiftly turn around to see my door being banged in. Without thinking I take a chair and lean it against my door. More banging. Then my door bursts open to see a large man in the doorway.
