《Interspecies. (Alien Fanfic)》Chapter 2

What a shit show.
I thought to myself, looking down and seeing the black jumpsuit covering my body. Apparently it was supposed to help against the tail attacks of the Xenomorphs. Just the very thought of their attacks made me shudder, I've seen the gruesome ways they gore people. I knew they were all dangerous, and I knew I put myself in that kind of situation, but the thought of my own test subject possibly... being independent was exciting to me.
I had studied the many life cycles of these creatures, their ability to create an egg that holds a royal facehugger. Apparently the previous Queen laid it, as she was nearing the end of her life, but I wasn't totally sure on that information. I wasn't here for that, but I had heard the royal chestburster is a beautiful organism. But without any Queen, I know they are capable of molting into one.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by Sanchez and Miles holding up their fist next to me. There was movement on their radars, possibly Xeno activity. With the way this place looks, blood smeared on the walls and damp ceilings, it wouldn't be an impossibility. It had only been a few hours since the containment breach began, but this place was in shambles. They already began reproducing, seeing many victims have chest injuries. The nest was being set up as we speak, and we needed to find it. The only issue was, where is it? The ship is larger than ten football fields, and Six was somewhere in the middle of all this. As I continued thinking, a loud hissing noise came from the top vents. The three of us flipped around, looking around the area.
I felt a large and bone like structure hit my chest, knocking me back. As I struggled to get to my feet, trying to comprehend the impact that just hit me. But Miles was gone, pulled up. The horrific screams and crunching noises filled the hallway, blood pooling to the floor. I was so stunned, frozen in fear and unable to move... That was until I felt the strong hand pull me along, I almost stumbled to the floor, but caught my balance.
"Go find somewhere safe, maybe some vent or locker, I'll hold it off." His voice wasn't as harsh as it usually was. More soft and concerned. He didn't have to tell me twice, the rapid clunk of my boots against the metal floor sounded in the hallway as I ran. I didn't know where I was going, I wasn't familiar with this part of the ship.
The sound of distance gunfire stopped, and not one but multiple hisses came from behind me. Was my life going to end? To the very organisms we tried to contain? Was this karma? So many questions rang in my head, but I had to hide. I wound up in a room, it was a dead end one too. I scrambled through the room, looking for any place of cover. The desk. Yes, I can hide under it. I pushed myself underneath, trying to calm my breathing. The front of the desk was facing towards the door, so maybe they wouldn't try to crawl to the wall or chair.
Moments pass by, and it felt safe. I slowly crawled out from under the desk, before I froze again. The sounds of the door opening filled my ears, but nothing made my skin crawl more than the familiar hiss. There wasn't just one in here, there were two. I used my hands to cover my mouth, my heart rapidly beating.

I just hoped they didn't sense I was here.
But I was wrong.
The large thump on top of the desk almost made me sputter out a scream, feeling the tears build up in my eyes. But I knew I was a goner once I saw the pitch black legs of the monster in front of me. From the legs, next I saw the claws place themselves on the floor.
Shit shit shit.
I'm dead.
I stared into the face of death, only...
It wasn't attacking. No, it only hissed to it's comrade, resulting in it leaving. But this one was still here, bumping it's head against my scrunched up legs and sniffing me. I just kept still, but this behavior was familiar. As the creatures drool pooled onto my boots, it came to me.
This is my test subject.
This is specimen 6.
Relief flooded over me as I let out a heavy sigh. I adjusted myself upright, to get a better look at him. This animal was all too familiar to me, in many ways.
"I've been looking for you..." I say as I reach my hand out, I just wanted to touch him. But I regret it as soon as I pulled my hand back, holding it against my chest. The inner jaw that almost worked liked a piston shot out at me, a warning hiss following behind. I should've known, this thing is weary of my presence, now that it was free. He knew his strength was superior, and maybe he took pity on me for that very reason. I had no way to defend myself. He was closing in on me, our faces just a few inches apart from each other.
I tried to keep myself from shaking too much, but this really was the end of me. The threatening growls as it prepared a head bite for me. I just closed my eyes, waiting for my fate.
Only to have the feeling of his hot breath against my skin fade away, and the sound of it jumping into a vent filled my ears. I opened my eyes, looking around with him nowhere to be scene.
Did he just... spare me?
~
I had to have been almost an hour of endless wandering. I tried to radio Sanchez multiple times, only to be left unanswered.
He was most likely dead.
My feet were hurting, I was exhausted. I couldn't sit in one spot for long, without the possibility of being sniffed out. I was in one of the lower levels too, close to the basement, possibly. This was frustrating, and thinking of my test subject, he was a confusing one.
He had saved me, kept me hidden from other Xenomorphs. He approached me and sniffed, making sure I was the Helena he knew. But as soon as I approached him, he was defensive?
Perhaps he was setting boundaries? Similar to the boundaries we set for him when he was in captivity?
If that was the case, then... These animals have learning and imitation abilities. This information was so fascinating, I wanted to write it all down! But now was not the time. I was so caught up in the need to make notes and theories, that I didn't even realize where I was walking. I looked around, shocked to realize that I was standing in a thick and dark substance. I bent down, feeling it between my index finger and thumb. When I turned on my flashlight and beamed it on the walls, the walls of the hallway were built up in this dark substance. I ran my hand across it, the textures running under my fingers.

This was the beginning of a nest, or entrance of one. This was the goal all along, slowly pushing a foot in front of me, I stopped in my tracks.
Hold on Helena.
You need to think rationally.
You're obviously unarmed, equipped with nothing but a flashlight and knife. Sanchez and Miles are gone. What are you planning, strolling on it with your good intentions? Casserole in hand with a cheery 'Welcome to the Neighborhood' voice? Idiot!
I was snapped out of my thoughts to a loud snarl. Not a hiss, a snarl of the creature. It knew I was here and it made itself known. Jumping in front of me, tail gently swinging behind it with a cruel intention. My breathing picked up, as I used my arms to push myself back and up, struggling to get to my feet. But when I did, I ran as fast as I could. It wasn't a warrior, it was a drone so I had a bit of a warning. As I ran, looking behind me I felt something under me give way. The metal grate broke under my weight, but how? Metal was so strong...
I didn't have time to think, my head connected with the edge of the floor and I descended below. Before I knew it, I blacked out and lost consciousness.
~
Happy dreams of family and friends.
Still on Earth, quiet barbecues and birthday parties.
Admiring my father for his talent of being a scientist, known for his work on foreign Alien species.
Dark dreams and cloudy skies.
Still on Earth, quiet cries and mournful moans.
Admiring my fathers casket, for his talent of being a scientist, lost to his work on dangerous Alien species.
~
Throbbing head as I came too, not wanting to open my eyes. Just wanting to sleep now, my body was hurting and I am so tired. Shifting and stirring my body around, I could feel I wasn't laying on the ground, or anything. Cautiously moving my hands around, the hard carapace ran under my hand. This familiar texture, was an exoskeleton. I'm being carried.
The creature was careful though, not wanting to bump or hurt me in anyway. By now I would've thought I was in the hive, an Alien bursting through my chest and that would be the end. But no, when I opened my eyes, first with blurry vision, there was no sign of a nest. Only a small crawl space, surrounded by reinforced walls. Only a circular vent opening as an entrance and exit.
Despite the enclosed and claustrophobic nature of this room, it was cold and dry. I didn't feel any head radiating off of him, Six. The only heat I've ever felt from them is their breath, but their bodies don't retain heat. They are under constant cover of the temperature of their environment. Oh how lucky they are, constant invisibility. If this was any other situation however, I wouldn't be thinking of the temperature. I'd be fearing for my life.
But I somehow... felt safe with him here.
Safe with a dangerous Alien species infamous for tearing their prey apart.
Again, as I tried to approach him with a hand, I was rejected with an intimidating hiss. He made no attacks or threats to me however, when I took my hand away and he approached me. I kept eye contact, not daring to take it away. These creatures are unpredictable, no matter how tame they could act.
Yet, slowly I was letting my guard as he sniffed me. Butting his rigid head against mine, investigating the scent of my hair and clothes. Running those silver and sharp teeth against my skin, sniffing it as I once again, tried touching him. Only he allowed me, gently grazing my hand over his dome. I didn't take a step further, I didn't want him to feel uncomfortable or threatened. Perhaps he was starting to feel the same trust from before.
He knew we were alone together, knew I was incapable of harming him. That possibility might have saved my life.
I was comfortable though, even with the seeping drool from his mouth of my body. It was lukewarm, consistency not too thick. I leaned back, against the cold walls as I thought.
How am I supposed to report back to headquarters? I've got an Alien in the room with me, sitting directly across from where I am, staring at me. I was lucky, though the only equipment with me was a flashlight and knife, I had my duffel bag with me. Filled with food and water in case this could be an overnight situation, which looking at it now I had no doubt about.
I closed my eyes, head still throbbing from my fall earlier. I should rest, but turning my back on a Xenomorph was a risk. I had to trust it though, considering I was in bad shape right now. I laid on my side, hugging my body as I faced Six, opening my eyes once more.
He seemed uninterested though, laying in a corner and turning his back on me. So there was trust in this interspecies relationship.
The thought pulled a smile along my lips when I closed my eyes again and before I could realize, I was asleep, dreaming the same dream over again.
The dream of admiring my father for his work.
I originally wanted to be veterinarian, like most animal loving children...
But when I lost my father, and my mother went crazy and insane after his death, I wanted to accomplish his research. I wanted to be like him, and worked hard in school and other internships to get where I was now.
This thought ended when I woke up, feeling a presence on me.
When I opened my eyes, there he was.
Six was investigating me, more presumably my body. There was nothing threatening in his behavior, which gave me relief and a sense of security, but what was he doing on me?
I kept my eyes on him, even as his drool fell against my cheeks. He moved around, bumping his teeth along my torso and arms, before he stopped along my thighs. Using a rubbing motion on my inner thighs, I came to a conclusion.
He knew I was a mature female.

BF Training Course
Story about a man who trusts and loves his girlfriend. Basic premise is that your girlfriend is leaving on a trip and wants you to take part in some mysterious course while she's gone. Figuring out what the course is about is a big part of the story. Mostly the story will be focused on dialogue and thoughts. One of my goals is for there to not be any potentially interesting conversations that are skipped past, many times I've been reading some story and hated it when some really interesting conversation is just summed up without going into enough detail.
