《Interspecies. (Alien Fanfic)》Chapter One

We always had them in our possession, this alien species. We figured it was easy enough, treating this place as though it was a regular animal testing facility. But we overestimated ourselves, the entire Weyland-Yutani company. The interns, the guests, scientists, and even the CEO were in great danger now. I was just hired as a simple research intern, but I had never thought I would be face to face with one of these monsters within the few weeks I was there. The animal we tried to contain and control. The Xenomorph.
It all started when I was hired as an intern under some of the best scientists of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. This was a highly respected company-- from the outside. It was known for everything, from Research Development to Extrasolar Colonization. Somebody like me was expected to be in the basic area of research development, but I was special... According to Mr. Yutani. The research essay was just a normal one, but it definitely intrigued him. I was placed in the 'Xenomorph procurement and research.' area. A place where even some of the best scientists dreamed off, and I was a dreamer. Only mine came true.
However, I knew I was putting my life in danger. These Aliens weren't just some small cell organisms. No, this was the Xenomorph XX121, or just the 'Xenomorph'. It's a highly aggressive extraterrestrial species, and I was studying them. From what I have learned, they have no higher goals than the creation of their species and elimination of any sort of life form that could threaten their existence. A species that was seven foot tall, at least, with acidic blood and their double jaws. Though we used... questionable means of breeding them, I did not like the our treatment to these species. They were constantly locked in strong metal body restraints, given shock therapy and other... punishment effects. But I was given my very own Xenomorph to study and 'train'.
And study I did, beginning to when the test subject was born. From what I studied, they use a different means of life form to infect a host, mostly human, in which they gestate. They can have other physical appearances, depending on the body type of the host. For mine, it was human, giving it a bipedal stance. I studied everything. From the way they eat, which we feed them prisoners, to their trademark characteristics. But I was instructed to never give mine a name, so I wouldn't grow some attachment from it. I did have a name for him, which we did establish the sex, though rather difficult. But for now, I called him 'Test subject.' And today, I was getting an up close encounter with it. The same room with it, only having restraints. I also had to guards with me, but to which I did not want.
"I am sorry, Ms. Sorenson but we cannot allow you to be alone in a room with a bug."
The way they described these rather beautiful creatures.
"That's a shame, Sanchez. I am allowed to be alone in a room with the Xenomorph,"
Making sure I got my point across, that this thing had a name. "If I have you with me, how can I get it to trust me? It is vital to my research which you are hindering, and I can take that up with your superior."

This was threat, and he knew it. He backed off after that, and I entered the room. It was just him and I, the Alien and the Human. I listened the familiar hiss of the animal, but I continued to step further. Clearly, he believed I was a threat to him and his safety. His inner jaw was restrained, so I sat on the floor directly in front of it, tolerating the snarls and hisses. I kept eye contact with the creature... My creature.
I first collect fluid samples, mostly from the lubricant like substance resting on his body, mainly around the mouth and jaw area. I did a physical of the Xenomorph as well, using a penlight to check if the Alien actually had eyes, and indeed it did. Right under the carapace dome of it.
"Interesting..." Were the words I whispered to myself, taking a deep breath.
"Release restraints on inner jaw." A command to the console as the Alien instantly snapped at me, but it wasn't trying to attack my body, no. It quickly ate up the flesh I had in my hands. "See... you were just hungry, weren't you? No need to threaten me... Six."
It was amazing how quick these things grew. It was already mature within a few days, hours maybe. This was a peculiar creature, it wasn't like the others. It was more... passive.
So the few days pass gently, days turn into weeks. This creature began to trust me, it had to be. Considering it was out of it's restraints, listening to me. It was almost like a... dog. It moved mainly on all fours, but easily got around on a bipedal stance. Everytime I had food, and it was from a human, the creature came to me. Weyland-Yutani Corporation had no morality. It was willing to sacrifice decency and life for the endless pursuit of profits. They had no regard for the lives of anyone involved with these creatures.
They just wanted to exploit these creatures... Use them to create some sort of biological weapons or something... Just for financial gain. "Building better worlds." I laughed at the little slogan, the slogan they used to gain monetary profits. But this animal... It looked and acted like the behavior of a dog. It thought of me as it's owner, sitting by my side. It was a bond... but that quickly ended.
It wanted to assert its dominance, but not in a threatening way. I sensed no aggression from this animal, but when it pounced on me, there was something else on it's mind. To play. It wanted to play, but was rejected...
When Sanchez came in, and shot warning shots, the creature instantly fled. I was pulled from the room, having the room gassed to put it to sleep. I was furious. I slammed my fists against the large man's chest, the strong glare of my eyes connecting with his.
"God damn you, Sanchez! It trusted me!" I yelled, directly in his face.
"That damn bug almost ate you! It's my job to protect the people around those things." He said, clearly wanting this conversation to just end. Damn this man.
"It just wanted to play, he looks at me like I am his owner, how dare you interfere with our bond!"
I could hear him scoffing to himself, this man just pushed all of my buttons endlessly.

"Play? Bond? Do you see the size of that thing? It wanted to eat you. It is a wild animal, there is no trusting those damn things!"
I rolled my eyes, shaking my head with a chuckle. "That's why you're just a guard, you don't understand body language of an animal. No regards for any life form. Disgusting, a meat head is all you are." I knew I was being harsh, but how could I not? Sanchez just sabotaged my work, scaring the animal, though I doubt the animal was actually scared of a man much smaller and weaker than him.
I felt for these things, maybe even wanted to be one myself. I knew it now. I was on their side, even though I would never be accepted by "The Hive" Nor, "The Queen" and maybe not even Six. It was a one sided affection after all. Ha... Affection. Towards an Alien species.
How peculiar.
So now, I sit in my living quarters, thinking. Sitting at my desk, the soft light of the lamp beaming down on it. Looking down at my notes, typing away of my observations. I'm still stressed from today's events, and it's getting late. I'm studying the Xenomorphs senses. First, the creature itself has sensory structures along the head of their extended skulls that are capable of hearing real sound. With the lengthy structure of the head, it gives the creature a wide field of hearing... It can easily rationalize its environment. It can detect heat signature while having normal vision, they have a "psychic receiver" organ at the front of it's head. But there is still a question ringing in my mind. The question everyone is curious of.
Does this animal... Feel?
I sigh, running a hand through the long red hair. The thought of this animal having emotions is unlikely. They are highly dangerous animals. Surely an animal with molecular acid for blood cannot feel, correct?
It's believed that the blood gives it energy... and when wounded in anyway it spurts out. So it's pressurized. It's a defense mechanism, a strong and most dangerous one at that. They know it too, and exploit at their advantage. Two Xeno's once killed a weaker one, using it's blood to escape. Their immune to it as well. All this information, the complexity of this monster... there are no words to describe it.
Only astounding. It's a beautiful organism, but a dangerous one. It's an apex predator, an intelligent one.
I yawn, switching off the light. Lack of sleep won't get me anywhere in my research, the bond between Six and I, is strained. Tying up my hair, wearing a white tank top and sweats, I climb into the bed.
It only seems like a few minutes of sleep, before a loud alarm sounds. It breaks me out of my sleep before guards enter the room.
"Helena Sorenson?" One of them asks, before I nod with visible confusion written on my face.
"Yes, that's me. What's going on? An emergency?" I asked, climbing out of bed and pushing shoes on my feet, and a jacket. I'm hurried out of the room, two guards at my sides and pushing me into a control room.
"Containment breach. Multiple Xeno's believed to have escaped, they're going for their Queen." I knew that voice, I've met him once before. The director of all this, the man who ran it.
"Mr. Yutani sir... Sorry to meet you under such circumstances." I kept my head low, before being rushed to a desk next to him.
"Now Ms. Sorenson, you've been recognized for almost taming a test subject. Truly commendable work, and I'd like to have these animals secured again. There is still hope for the creation of the Biological weapons... We need a way to contain them again, without killing them."
"A-Ah, well... The Queen has escaped correct? They are already most likely creating their nest, a-and the drones..." I was under pressure, trying to come up with a solution. Why me? I was just an intern.
"A drone? What the fuck is a drone?" I could hear the common confusion in Sanchez's voice.
"Like, uh... Worker bees, or ants. They work around the hive, the nest. They'd be gathered around there, most likely? But it'd be hours before the nest would even be half done, damn." I sighed, cupping my face in my hands. Of all the things, A containment breach resulting in the Queen being freed. How idiotic of our security.
"Then that's how long we will wait." Yutani said, to my amazement.
"Sir..? People will die, won't they? They'll use the human bodies to construct their nest."
"Yes that is correct. That is a risk we will take, Helena." He turned his attention elsewhere, seemingly busy. "What about the hybrids? Are they still in containment."
"Some sir. The... larger ones have escaped. No telling where they are, probably making the way to the nest." A man replied, while I started working. It felt like I had no way of making any solution... Until it came to me.
"Wait, I have an idea!" It was a stupid idea, in all honesty but it made sense to me.
"What is it?" I heard a reply, quickly gaining Yutani's attention.
"This colony they have... It's structured much like a bee's or an ant's. They have the Queen, the drones, and the warriors... The warriors remain outside of the nest, they are the assault of the colony."
"So what does that mean? That's just more bugs to burn." I could hear a couple of the security laughing, before I rub my temples."
"It means, my test subject had the bodily structure of a warrior. He trusted me to a certain extent. If I could find him, and somehow be led to the nest or close to it... We can begin to secure the test subjects."
The room fell silent, I knew my idea was far fetched, but it could possibly work. They broke out into an argument, people fighting for both sides of the decision. Whether or not to send me on a suicide mission. It seemed like Mr. Yutani was the only one that didn't have a sure answer. Before his voice quieted the room.
"Okay, suit her up. Get her ready. This is her mission, let her do as she pleases."
The answer I had hoped for gave me a smile on my face. I'd be able to meet my test subject.
Six.
"Thank you sir."
