《charlie - corbyn besson》chapter eight

Three days. Corbyn had three days left at home before he let for a two month long trip to Europe for tour. He was so excited, he loved going to Europe and the shows were always insane, but it never got easier leaving Charlie. Recently, you'd worked out a better deal with your boss and you were spending a lot more time at the Besson's. You and Corbyn were basically living together with Charlie, developing a schedule. Every morning you'd wake up together and you'd take turns making breakfast while the other one showered and got ready for the day. After Charlie got up and ate, you'd go over your plans for the day. Corbyn usually had a few meetings or phone calls to take care of so you and Charlie would hang out. You'd play with her, watch movies or take her to the park if it was nice out. You were trying to get her used to a schedule without Corbyn being around. She knew that her dad would be gone for a while and she was old enough to understand that you'd be around more often, but she still struggled whenever he left. You and Corbyn tried to make it as easy on her as possible.
Recently things had gotten a lot better. Corbyn went through a few days of a rough patch; not talking as much, paying extremely close attention to Charlie, not being his normally bubbly self. Having you around was helping him a lot more than you knew. It was still a well-kept secret from you that he was in love with you. He tried his best not to let it show, but every night when you'd fall asleep in his arms he'd resist the urge to pull you as close as possible to him. When he woke up in the morning next to you, the first thing he'd want to do is roll over and kiss you good morning, but he couldn't. And it killed him a little bit inside. He hated leaving his baby girl. Every night on tour he missed hugging and kissing his sweet daughter goodnight and seeing her smiling face every day. He was gonna miss you too. He missed your laugh and your constant positivity, you being there for him whenever he needed it most. He snapped out of his thoughts when you tapped the counter with your nails. "Corbyn, are you listening?" you said and his eyes shot up to you. His cheeks flushed and he sheepishly smiled, "Sorry, I just totally spaced out." You sat down and gave him your full attention. "What are you thinking about?" you asked. Corbyn opened his mouth to respond, but nothing came out.

"Is everything okay?" you asked, reaching over and gently touching his arm. Corbyn's heart raced—was this it? Should this be the moment he finally tells you? "Listen Y/N. I, uh, want to talk to you about something." he said, refusing to look you in the eye. "Okay," you said nervously, "what is it?" Corbyn took in a deep breath and opened his mouth to speak again, but was cut off by the sound of his cheerful little girl. "Daddy! Look what I can do!" she chirped, moving one of the chairs out of her way. Charlie raised her arms and did a very sideways cartwheel, finishing with a big smile on her face. You and Corbyn clapped for her, him scooping her up onto his lap. "Wow, look at you baby! Who taught you that?" he asked and she pointed to you, "Y/N and me practiced at the park. She's really good at them." she smiled and you shrugged, smirking at Corbyn. "What can I say? I'm a professional." Corbyn wrapped his arms around Charlie and kissed her temple over and over, rocking her back and forth. She snuggled into his chest, holding onto his arms with her small hands. The hug was cute at first, but then you could see Corbyn's expression turn from loving to pained. "Daddy, you're squeezing too tight." she squeaked out and he let go. "Sorry, princess." he forced a chuckle and she slid off of his lap. "Hey Char, why don't you go set up a tea party for us while I talk to Daddy?" you suggested and her eyes lit up. "Okay!" she said, skipping up to her room.
You turned your attention back to Corbyn, picking at his nails and staring blankly. "Corb, are you okay?" you asked softly and he shook his head, tears pricking his eyes. "I don't want to leave." he whispered, his voice cracking. A tear spilled from his eye and you rushed over, pulling him in. You held him against your chest while he sat on the stool at the counter, running your fingers through his hair and rubbing his back. He buried his face in your shirt, choked sobs coming out. You couldn't help but feel tears brim your own eyes at how upset he was. "I don't want you to leave either, bub." He sniffled and pulled away, looking up at you with red, puffy eyes. "What if I didn't go? What if I just stayed here with you and Charlie?" he frantically said and you cupped his cheeks. "You have to go, sweetheart. I know it hurts but we're gonna be okay. I promise. You're gonna go to Europe and own every stage, it'll be amazing. And Charlie and I will be here waiting for you when you get back." You said, crying yourself. He weakly smiled at you, wanting nothing more but to kiss you for your sweet words. "Can we play now?" Charlie's voice rang down the hall and you looked at Corbyn, offering your hand. "C'mon, we have a tea party to attend." you said and he chuckled, wiping his eyes and taking your hand.
