"Mmm, that's it." Harry practically moaned.
Zayn chuckled at him, stirring creamer into his coffee.
"This gives me life." Harry said, taking another sip of the tea.
"I used to come here all the time by myself. This is where I always sit. It's weird having someone across from me now." Harry admitted.
"Did you come by yourself by choice?" Zayn asked.
Harry looked out the window beside them.
"Yeah, I guess. I never brought Louis here. I didn't want him to know about it. It's mine."
"The cafe is yours?" Zayn smiled.
"Yeah." Harry chuckled.
"I get it. I don't like to tell Niall when I find a new band I like. I want them to be mine." Zayn said.
Harry nodded. "Same here."
"So I'm guessing music will never be something we'll discuss in this friendship." Zayn smiled.
"Dunno. I might share a band or two with you." Harry said.
"I'm so fortunate." Zayn said sarcastically, sipping his coffee.
"Can't believe you drink that." Harry said, making a face.
"Why do you hate coffee so much?" Zayn chuckled.
"I don't. The smell is a beautiful thing." Harry said.
"So...it's the taste?" Zayn asked.
"I had it black once. That turned me off of it for good." Harry explained briefly.
"You had it the wrong way. Try this." Zayn said, sliding his cup across the small table.
Harry flicked his eyes up to stare at Zayn for a moment. "Okay. You try the tea." He said, sliding his cup over as well.
"Ready?" Harry asked as they picked the cups up.
"As I'll ever be." Zayn said.
Harry sipped the coffee first, scrunching his nose up in a cute way before he put the cup down.
"Nope, not for me."
Zayn sipped some of the tea, making a face as well. "This tastes like...dirt. And hot water."
"Give me back my baby." Harry demanded, acting offended.
"You must have no tastebuds." Zayn said, taking his coffee back next.
"No, just different ones than yours." Harry shrugged.
"Yours are wrong." Zayn said, staring at him.
"Oh they are?" Harry laughed.

"Yes because that's gross."
"I get it! Lay off." Harry said, trying not to smile.
"Hey, do I get to drive again when we leave?" Zayn asked after a short silence.
"If you can remember how to get to my house." Harry said.
"Yeah, I'll find my way." Zayn nodded casually.
"You know, I got rose scented dryer sheets." Harry smiled at him, holding his tea beneath his chin.
"Um, good for you?" Zayn frowned slightly.
"My bed smells like roses because I washed all of the new stuff and dried it with those dryer sheets." Harry explained.
"Oh, nice." Zayn chuckled.
"It smells so nice it was hard for me to get out of, honestly." Harry said.
"I don't need that spark you talked about. Just my bed." He added.
"I'm quite fond of my bed too." Zayn nodded.
"It's really comfortable." Harry smiled.
"Mine or yours?" Zayn asked.
Harry looked down into his tea. "Both, but...yours was really comfortable that one night."
"The night you passed out drunk in it." Zayn chuckled.
"I didn't pass out. I...fell asleep in your arms. That sounds better." Harry decided.
"Not to mention romantic." Zayn teased, loving the way Harry blushed.
"I wouldn't consider anything about that night romantic." Harry said.
"I would." Zayn said quietly.
"How? I was wasted that night, and disgusting and an emotional wreck. Plus I practically forced myself on you." Harry said.
"You act as if that's the worst I've seen you. Remember when I held your hair while you hacked up your guts?" Zayn asked.
"Don't think I'll ever forget." Harry said stiffly.
"I hate myself for that." He added.
"You shouldn't. It was how you felt at the time." Zayn said.
"I know but...that was disgusting. You didn't need to see that. I don't want to be so disgusting around you." Harry said quietly.
"The only disgusting thing you've ever done around me is tell me you hate yourself." Zayn said softly, looking into his eyes.
"That I could do without. I don't want you to hate yourself."
"You're not half bad." He teased, making Harry smile some.

"Zayn-"
"I meant it. You're a really good person, Harry. Inside and out."
"Thank you." Harry said quietly, blushing.
"It's weird hearing you say that."
"Why?" Zayn asked, drinking more coffee.
"You used to hate me." Harry said.
"True." Zayn said after a pause.
"Why did you hate me?" Harry decided to ask.
Zayn looked at him. "Like you said, there's a lot I can't see. I was just narrow minded and angry at myself so I lashed out at you."
That was a shitty excuse and Zayn knew it.
"Why were you angry at yourself?" Harry asked, glancing at the way Zayn was biting at his lower lip now.
Zayn shook his head. "Dunno."
"I think you do." Harry pressed.
Zayn just shrugged, obviously not in the mood to talk about it.
So Harry chose to leave it alone.
"I think you still have trouble seeing things." He mentioned quietly.
"Why? I see that you're a great person now." Zayn chuckled.
"Not that." Harry smiled. "Niall."
"I know he's kind of short but I see him too." Zayn said, making Harry laugh.
"But you don't see the way he looks at you." Harry said.
"Explain." Zayn said casually, putting his cup down and giving Harry his full attention.
"Well," Harry began, looking away from that stare that made him weak.
"He looks at you like....you're some kind of superhero."
"I think he thinks of me kind of like an older brother. I mean, I treat him like a younger brother. I'm very protective of him. That's actually how we met, these guys were giving him a hard time and I made them leave him alone. Since then he's kind of followed me around and...we became best friends." Zayn smiled.
"That's really sweet, Zayn. But...I don't think he thinks of you as a brother. He turns red every time you touch him or speak to him." Harry said.
"Well so do you. So what are you saying?" Zayn smirked.
Harry paused, blushing again and making Zayn chuckle.
"I-I don't do that. Look, what I'm saying is, he obviously has a crush on you, Zayn. That's probably why several people have asked or thought you two were dating. He looks at you like he's in love with you." Harry said.
Zayn smile faded, and it was almost as if his and Niall's whole friendship flashed before his eyes.
"Oh." Zayn eventually said, not sure what to do with that information.
"Would you ever date him?" Harry asked, trying to be casual.
"I couldn't. He's my best friend." Zayn said, shaking his head.
"Well what are you going to do?" Harry asked.
"Why do I have to do anything? I'm not the one who...possibly has feelings."
"Zayn." Harry frowned, sitting back and staring at him.
"What? I don't...do well in situations like this! Feelings aren't my strong suit." Zayn said, wishing they could just drop this conversation.
"Look, you're just guessing from the way he looks at me. That doesn't mean he feels that way. Why are we even talking about this anymore? It's no big deal." Zayn said.
"Okay, okay." Harry said, surrendering.
"I mean with that logic, Liam has a crush on you." Zayn said.
Harry frowned again. "He grabbed my ass and told me I was....I don't even remember the stupid shit he said."
"That's hot." Zayn teased.
"Shut up." Harry chuckled, shaking his head.
"So ass grabbing isn't your thing?" Zayn joked.
"Oh no, it definitely is. Just not with him." Harry said.
"Noted." Zayn laughed before he finished his coffee.
"What's a turn on for you?" Harry asked quietly, blushing a little.
"Oh, we're doing this now?" Zayn smiled.
"Yeah." Harry smiled back.
"Okay. I like intelligence." Zayn said.
"Yeah?" Harry asked.
Zayn nodded.
"Did you know that if you add two and two you get four?" Harry asked quietly, raising an eyebrow.
Zayn stared at him a moment before he started laughing, much too hard for the simplicity of Harry's statement.
It must've been his expression.
"You're attracting attention!" Harry scolded, laughing as well now.
Zayn eventually got himself together, catching his breath and looking at him.
"Then let's get out of here."

Beneath the Dragoneye Moons
Elaine is ripped from this world to Pallos, a land of unlimited possibilities made real by a grand System governing classes, skills, and magic. An ideal society? What is this, a fantasy novel? Adventures? Right this way! A Grand quest? Nah. Friends and loot? Heck yes! Humans are the top dog? Nope, dinosaur food. Healing and fighting? Well, everything is trying to eat her. Join Elaine as she travels around Pallos, discovering all the wonders and mysteries of the world, trying to find a place where she belongs, hunting those elusive mangos, all while the ominous Dragoneye Moons watch her every move. Hey! Beneath the Dragoneye Moons is my first writing effort, so please be kind, but don’t hesitate to point out the flaws. The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but it gets there! I’m going to be posting M-W-F I do know how the story ends, and I promise if it ever gets dropped, or I stop doing this, I will post the ending. There will be no random “this is the last chapter” out of the blue. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.
