《For Life》18. Broken pieces

In the abandoned building filled with old workshop equipment, the only sound within the largely empty building is the droplets of water from the pipes hitting the ground, a constant reminder for some, that quietness was a must.

Rose and Max sat faced each other, tied to the seats they were sat in, and gagged with tape over their mouths, quiet they had to be or who knows what the sisters may do, after so much protesting on Rose's end, she did not dare defy her kidnappers any more giving the last time she had tried.

"P-Please let us go!" Rose cries out, her hair being dragged by one of the women known as Daisy.

Daisy had enough of the young woman's cries and whining, her sister gave strict instructions to not harm the girl or the young boy that they had taken from Austin's home, so Daisy did what she was told, but that didn't mean she couldn't play dirty.

A painful kick to the ribs had Rose breathless, gasping for breath as her eyes focus solely on her sobbing little brother tied tightly to the chair across the room. "That is your last warning, next time I shoot the boy in the leg." Daisy says, casually as she drags Rose to her feet roughly by her arm.

Rose's arms and legs were tied, making it extremely difficult to walk, the dragging of Daisy made her fall constantly, her legs already bloodied and bruised from the rocks and glass on the old abandoned factory floor.

She wanted to cry out for Austin, but couldn't.

Instead, she looks towards her confused and pained little brother, she tried her best to smile at him and hope he could read her face 'it's going to be okay' she would say in her head, repeatably, knowing that she couldn't let Max see her give up.

Rose knew Austin would come for her and Max, he had to, he was their last hope to get out of this alive.

Rose immediately tenses up when she hears voices, belonging to none only then the crazy Iguana sisters that she had learned they are called, they had taken Rose and Max from their home and tied them to the chairs, she had watched them set up traps throughout the whole building, enough to destroy this and buildings around them.

Hope was becoming wishful thinking the longer she had watched them plant bombs of all shapes and sizes throughout the room, hidden in machinery and the walls, some even in the floors, they had covered them with cardboard boxes and old vehicles.

Rose could no longer see as her eyes were blindfolded, but she knew the sisters were not alone as they walked, she could hear multiple footsteps coming towards her and Max, heavy boots heading straight in her direction.

Angel was having so much fun.

It has been too long since she had seen Austin, now to have his plaything in her grasp, it had been too tempting giving the timing and situation. The young girl Rose was just sitting there, all lovely and alone with only a few men to protect her in such a big house, it was almost too easy for Angel to get her hands onto Austin's lover and the small brat.

She wasn't mad at Austin for giving up her sister, in fact, she wanted to thank him, perhaps persuade him to work with her again, she wanted to go solo from her sisters, they had become too much of a hassle as of recently, the CIA and FBI are getting closer and closer with each passing day, Angel knew she needed to work fast to get on Austin's side.

Angel just needed to lure him here, tell him just how much she is worth and kill the young bitch that took her man from her, the young woman with the boy were an eyesight for a while now to Angel, this was too perfect, giving the time, Angel could not get over that fact she now had them in her grasp.

He would soon come for them, then she can make her move.

Austin would be hers again, the thrill of the game was making her skin shízzle with excitement, her breathing became heavy and her body became hot with the anticipation of being in his presence again, he has hers, and hers alone, she needed him to survive and he needed her skills, together they would be the most powerful power couple in their world.

The idea was becoming more and more a close dream to Angel, but first, she had to get rid of her sister, Austin only needs one girl, and that was Angel Iguana... Angel Silver... It was all coming together, the perfect plan.

Austin was outside the building, gun in hand and dressed for the occasion with a bulletproof vest and his signature black leather gloves.

He arrived first before the rest of his men, shortly upon his arrival his men began to show up and surround the building, well aware of the traps that are no doubt laid out before them, his men know how to deal with the sisters, giving this isn't the first time Austin's men had seen their work up close.

Austin stands forward, his men behind him he raises his arm with his gun in hand and shoots one, two, three bullets into the air from his pistol, alerting Angel that he is outside, lowering his weapon he watches in front of him and waits for her to make an appearance.

Austin had never been so angry in his entire life, not when his father died or when his friends had betrayed him. He couldn't not think of anything other than getting Rose and Max to safety and put an end to the sister's antics, once and for all, it had to be him that did it, this was his fault and no one else's.

Metal doors slam open in the building in front of him, an image of Angel with two men in ski masks next to her come forth, holding military-grade SMGs. Unbothered, Austin turns his head slightly, he looks up to the building opposite the factory, he nods his head to his snipers then turns to focus his eyes on none other than Angel.

As Angel gets closer, his men raise their weapons to which, Angel raises her hands amused, the two men in masks beside her raise their weapons, ready to shoot. "Hello Austin my love, I have missed you." Angel says sweetly, lowering her hands and staring into Austin's eyes with affection, one Austin remembers.

A shiver of disgust goes down Austin's back and he steps forward two steps to Angel, gripping his gun tight, the only thing he wanted to do was to blow a hole right between her eyes, the thought was becoming itching with every gaze of Angel as she checked him out.

"Angel Iguana." Austin says coldly to Angel.

Angel flinches slightly but recovers with a known smirk at the situation, from behind Angel she could sense her sister Daisy make her way towards her and her men beside her, it was all coming together she thought, she would prove herself.

She would prove to Austin just how strong she is, without weakness.

Things like sisters and Rose's of the world were weaknesses, she just had to show Austin that, and what better way to show him than to stage her removing weakness, and showing his men that she was fitted to stand by his side, as his Queen.

Angel smiles wickedly at Austin, he readies his weapon to shoot her but what she did next completely surprised him and his men as Angel pulls her sister, Daisy into her chest and wraps her arms around her in a hug, then raises her handgun and then presses it to the side of her head.

"S-Sister?" Daisy, mumbles out painfully hurt at the realization of what is pressed against her head, she stares up into her sister's eyes for answers but when she finds none, she accepts her fate.

A lone tear escapes her eyes before she closes her eyes, almost instant Angel shoots her sister dead, a bullet straight in the side of her head, taking the life that was once inside of her and ripping it away from her.

"Be with mother, you are free from this nightmare, sweet sister." Angel says quietly, in her native tongue as she lets go of her sister and watches her fall to the fall beneath her feet.

Austin was almost speechless, but he had suspected this, a memory of a conversation Angel and Austin once had together comes flooding back, a life without her sisters, going solo to be with him, he wanted to laugh, what madness he thought, this young girl to come up with something so sinister and then to plan it out years later? He didn't push it past her, she was capable of anything, this only proves it.

She proved herself to him, for the sickest of reasons, Austin could only stick to hope for a better life than this, there had to be something other than death, and there was, she was inside that building surrounded by bombs and traps.

Rose was so close yet so far away, with only one thing in his way so he took the bait Angel was setting, for now.

"Come here." Austin says, clipping his gun to his waistcoat holster, his eyes softening as he looks at her.

Angel's face relaxes and her guard is down, she steps over her sister's dead body and crashes her body into Austins. Angel has missed his smell, the width of his shoulders and the hardness of his muscles as he wraps his arms around her as nothing could hurt her.

Angel felt safe in his arms, like when her father used to comfort her and her sisters as bombs dropped around them as children, she loved him with all her being, now she just wanted him to know that.

"Shhhh." Austin rubs her back comforting as Angel would now sob tears of joy with being in his arms once again, turning her slightly so he can get a view of the building where his snipers laid in wait, causiously Austin would tilt his hand and a knife would slowly slide into his palm.

The sudden rush of anger and pent up tension he had felt for the past few hours came crashing down on him as he grips the knife in his hands, away from the view of her men, Austin gives the signal.

Once the signal was given, a whoosh of air and flying sniper bullets whizz past him, hitting their targets, as he holds onto Angel, her eyes go wide as she sees her men shot dead, and she is now in the hands of the devil who she thought would save her.

He had tricked her, he had used her feelings for him as a-

A piercing rush of pain makes her scream out as she grips onto the jacket of Austin, his bent knife deep inside her side he pushes it as far as it could go then he does something that he knows he would have nightmares about, as the sound he hears next is the bloodcurdling one of Angel and he twists the curled knife in her side.

Angel's screaming had stopped when Austin had pulled the knife from the inside of her cleanout, without a single motion of slowing or stopping, he ripped it from her and dug it back in again, this time in her back.

Leaning in, Angel still tight in his hold, Austin's lips go to Angel's ear as he whispers to her. "My sweet broken bird, I should have put you out of your misery then and there when I found you, I'm sorry it got to this birdie." Austin whispers softly, listening to her breathing get tight, and her hold getting weaker as she holds onto him.

He holds onto her and lowers her down onto the ground, still in his arms, he places his hand under her head and lays her down. Austin stares into Angel's eyes and see's something he thought he would never see in them.

Calmness, a sense of peace and tranquility in her expression as she stares up to the clear blue sky than to me, a small smile placed on her lips, her eyes crinkle at the sides as she closes her eyes, smiling.

A soft 'thank you' for Austin's ears only.

Austin could not stop and wait any longer, the sounds of sirens could be heard throughout the city getting closer to his location, and he had to get Rose and Max out of there, but he was running out of time, he had to get to them.

Before Austin to take any more steps further into the premises of the factory, the factory building erupts in smoke, then suddenly the glass windows crack and smash forward as fire erupts from the building, the sound of bombs one after the other erupt, one following after the other, bomb explosions erupt around him as he lowers for cover.

The last thing Austin is to see and hear is the sight before him, the building holding the woman he loves with the boy he had come to care so much for, blown up into pieces before his eyes, a painful throb in his chest he did not even notice he was crying as he looks on to the erupting smoke and fire blazing as high as the building, pieces of the factory flying in every direction.

He could not think, only feel the breaking of his heart as he keeps his eyes focused on the building, welcoming the darkness and sudden rush of pain in his side, he closes his eyes involuntarily to the image of Rose and Max, welcoming him home, after a day at work, something so simple yet it was all he had wanted, everything else was unimportant, he just wanted them to be safe and happy.

But that was then, now... he had to close his eyes, and accept as darkness that overtook his body, the sight of the burning building in front of him vanishing as he slowly closed his eyes, with the thought of Rose by his side.
